Nice find Houston. Going to try to see it, have a hard time imagining it will be as raw and powerful as the original but hoping to be surprised.
Love that it's the same guy playing Milo as in the original Pusher.

Yep, its showing at an indie theater here but I still havent seen the originals. I kind of feel like just buying them if everyone agrees its a great trilogy.

I really wanna check this one out, I Stand Alone. It kind of seems like a French version of Taxi Driver. I think it's the same director that did Enter The Void and Irreversible.
The whole thing is on youtube if anyone wants to check it out. I prefer dvd's and blu rays since I can't hook my laptop up to my tv.

A movie so far ahead of it's time, it could be considered prophetic. It's about a young boy growing up in Paris with a mother who does not love him, and the consequences.
This film is basically an early prediction of what the welfare state would become in all Western countries, as well as a chilling indictment of the culture that produces such a welfare state.
This film is nothing short of an explanation of how the West dies.
Was thir really Trauffaut's intention? Or are you just seeing that yourself in this?
As someone who leans libertarian, I think this deserves a rewatch on my part.

Been watching a Russian series called Brigada about a group of friends who rise through the Moscow underworld in the 90s. It's good stuff, shame about the subtitles being very poor. You can find many of the full episodes on youtube:

Lol yeah I've seen Irreversible. I thought it was pretty good and rape happens in real life so I didn't see the big problem. It's just a movie and they were acting. I was just staring at the screen during that club scene at the beginning haha. I have Enter the Void on Blu Ray (same director) so I gotta check out I Stand Alone.

Has anyone mentioned Tropa de Elite or Tropa de Elite 2? They're Brazilian action movies about the paramilitary police the BOPE in Rio de Janeiro. Great watch.

Der Untergang - 'Downfall'. German film, about 8 years old about Hitler's last days in the bunker. Think it won best foreign language Oscar. Either way, its fucking fantastic and the acting by Bruno Ganz as Hitler is mesmerising.
In fact, you've probably seen some of the parody videos where "Hitler finds out X". Well, the scene they subtitle over is from this film and its kinda funny when you see it as its not comical in the slightest when its in context along with the film as a whole.

Second both those flicks My Name is Johnny and Carandiru especially the first one. Very solid films.
If someone is looking for a decent spanish flick, I enjoyed Rosario Tijeras.

Get the Gringo is a mel gibson movie that shows a Hollywood version of a Mexican prison, but it made sense to me and comes close to the description of mexican prisons, miniature lawless villages with impenetrable walls, described in Cormack McCarthy's novel, All the Pretty Horses.

Rust and Bone - a French movie from the same director that did the prison film, A Prophet. An unemployed man and his young son go to live with his sister and husband. He forms a relationship with a killer whale trainer after her legs get chopped off in an accident. This is sort of a romantic movie but it's really good, nothing like American ones. Plus, you get to see France outside of Paris. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

This is England is good, but try "Dead Mans Shoes", same director and in my opinion the better film. Also try "Kill List", starts slowly but then just goes crazy, worth a watch.
