Been doing a bit of research and if everything goes right, I will probably head to Ukraine for 1 month in July. This to get a taste of what to expect in Russia and practice the language. So I might be one of the first to get to the city we will have chosen. Anybody else thinking of being in Russia in August or are most you thinking September?

If I go it will be based around the fact that I will either be taking the semester of school off and travelling or staying in school and doing something for the month of August.

So there is a chance I would be there at that time. Also calculated that I could live in Russia and take all of my course for the semester online and actually save money compared to the cost of residence and meal plans at University.

Just gotta make a decision.

Yes so much time left still. By February, we should have a Russian language section thread to start practicing with each other.

Yeah your right, I'm curious if I went how many people would be in on this? Vorkuta has anyone outside of this thread contacted and asked to join?

No,everyone who is interested has said so on the thread. I think about 10 people have said they want in but I see a small tight knit team 3 or 4 that actually make it out there.

Wow, this trip sounds so good. Would be great to finally meet up with a bunch of the guys from the forum in person and have some solid wings. I'm so tempted to do it now but ill wait until it's sooner and make up my mind.

Has everyone settled on Novosibirisk? Also I think driver sounds way better than owning our own car in Siberia, just sounds like we could have trouble doing that route.

If Novosibirisk is the city, I will contact a guy who spent a lot of time there for some info.

A quick search online got this from Wiki:
Novosibirsk (Russian: Новосибирск; IPA: [nəvəsʲɪˈbʲirsk]) is the third most populous city in Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg and the most populous city in Asian Russia, with a population of 1,473,754 (2010 Census).[11] It is the administrative center of Novosibirsk Oblast as well as of Siberian Federal District. The city is located in the southwestern part of Siberia at the banks of the Ob River and occupies an area of 502.1 square kilometers (193.9 sq mi).[10]

More info on Novosibirsk from wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novosibirsk

Sounds good to me. Looking at a map of Russia, it is near a lake which could be a good option for fun in late Aug/early Sept with girls from N and other cities going there for vacation. There are also some good options for smaller cities nearby. Also, for hardcore adventure, Kazhakstan is not far from that city...food for thoughts guys...[Image: wink.gif]

Another great option would be Vladivostock which has always had an almost mythical appeal to me. Looking at a map, it's right on the doorsteps of China and N.Korea with S.Korea and Japan not far either. Anyone from here has been to Vladivostock? Would love to hear your thoughts about this town in the end of the "Earth".

I also bought the Vodkaberg, English Teacher X's adventures in Samara. From the first pages, it's looking like an awesome adventure. Samara could also be a good option. Damn, there are so many options, it's unreal. I'm even more psyched about this trip, correction, adventure![Image: banana.gif]

With 800 dollars a month plus gas we should be all right with a driver.
Vorkuta had a great idea and I will PM and call him in mid January on Skype to verify if I can go. Most of you guys should do the same.

Regarding a car, while yes it would be terrific, then it would also pose some problems.

there is a direct train line between Berlin and Novosibirsk

I like the size of Novo. I grew up in a city of about 1.1 milllion (metro area) and you can get by autonomously. It's a good size, somewhere between the typical city and town spectrum. I also like is geographic position, smack in the middle of the continent. Also, like you said it's near Astana Kazakhstan and a lake for some day-trips.

RE Vladivostock - I agree it has a mythical appeal, and it's also a port town, but I think it's too small. Probably about 1/3 the size of Novo. Just too small to spend that much time IMO.

Berlin - NovosibirskPoznań-Warsaw-Brest-Minsk-Smolensk-
Vladimir-N.Novgorod-Kirov-Perm[6]-

While it would be cool to see a bunch of countries from the ground, 3 1/2 days is a long time on a train.

I'd think about it if we all met in Berlin and went out a time or two there but otherwise just meeting in Berlin too train 89 Hours is pointless I think.

Vladivostock seems good too. But we want pure white Siberian girls and the ability to go hit some towns when we want to. Kazan would be better for me as a latin guy.....but the dream of Siberia has always been in my head.....since watching Dr. Zhivago lol.

You guys and your pure white Siberian girls. I want the Asian versions. To me it will be so weird to hear pure Russian coming out of an Asian girl's mouth. I wonder if they're considered a lower tier of girl. Is there discrimination against them?

RVF Siberian Meet Up: Autumn 2013

Yeah I met a Russian girl from Kazan who was grinding me hard at a night club. Couldn't speak much English but it was bizarre meeting a Russian Asian girl. Her demure was much sexier than that of a southeast asian.

The quality in Russia is far higher than the 6 posted above.

I am not going to discriminate. I'm going to be open minded to both Asian Russians and pure white Siberian Russian girls as long as they're sweet, friendly, sexy and hot. [Image: banana.gif]

I also hope that the talent in Russia is better the pic of that 5-6 Russian girl with the Tamil lesbian landwhale pictured above. lol

Have you ever played Cajon? I find it awesome for Acoustic sets and even some live sets easy with just a cymbal and you can get some fantastic sounds from the bass and snare sides. I have one I will be sure to bring on the trip if I attend so we can form the RVF Poosy Paradise Band [Image: smile.gif]

I think I played one once, I believe the sound of a snare is best to get a real driving sound, but if we can put together a band and make to Novosibirsk and play, that accomplishment alone would be hilariously bizarre. "I played in a band in Siberia" would be a great thing to tell the nurse in a nursing home when you're old. She would think you were insane.

It also would be a total great social camouflage for the snatchhounds involved. Even those that don't play can have roles as recording engineer, whatever so it looks really legit.

With modern broadband it's possible to arrange and practice songs and be ready to kill when we arrive.

Big question is, how the fuck is everyone going to get a visa? From what I've read most people commit to a ESL school or something that sponsors their visa. I need to do more research but chime in if you know the ins and outs.

What passport do you hold Carter? If it's a Western one then just get an agency to sort out a visa for you,I've done it lots of times and it's a simple process.

Those videos are great. Go to 32:00 minutes of the second video. That's the kind of situation we need to be getting into!

That is grand. I don't mean the beauty contest, I mean the tug of war on the frozen lake at 31:00 in Video 2. Can you imagine how bored everyone is to develop a sport like that? That's great, it means they are going to be interested in novelty--us.

Some comments from Vodkaburg about hum..Vodkaburg aka Samara:

"City of Women

Almost immediately upon arriving in Vodkaberg, I had begun to hear stories about how the region had the most beautiful women in Russia.

This was apparently because Catherine the Great didn't want any other beautiful women around her, and banished them all to the Vodkaberg region.

(All the hookers, too, I would later hear. And assumedly, all the most beautiful hookers.)

Certainly there were a lot of them. Some said there were as many as three women for every man in that region.

I don't see how that could be true, but I'm sure the ratio was a bit off, probably because girls from the nearby villages came into the city to study accounting, medicine, and teaching , while men from the villages tended at that time to leave for the army or to work in the factories in Desolationgrad, or just drink themselves to death at a young age.

And certainly they had an interesting dress sense. I arrived at the end of summer, so I saw this in full glory: leopard skin, zebra skin, gaudy fur coats, short skirts, fishnet stockings, brightly dyed hair, huge earrings. As much cleavage and leg and nipple as could be displayed.

And high heels.

Lord, do Russian women love high heels. At the supermarket, in a foot of snow, on ice, you name it. As a Russian girl once said to me, "I feel like I don't have legs if I don't have on high heels."

As I walked around the city, beautiful high-cheekboned, thin, sexy women seemed to be everywhere, stalking around on high heels. My classes, on the trams, in the streets. Everywhere."
