You'd think I just showed them the holy grail- they always look through it with a big smile of excitement as I am working the grill, stove, and oven. I don't think young girls today are getting any guidance other than Pinterest. Perhaps they have not initiated the learning process, but my guess is that their mothers are not wanting to share the knowledge- either they want a reason for their "babies" to come home since they can't do it for themselves without the "secrets", or they can't be bothered to have learned much themselves beyond the basics and have no skills to pass along.

I was thinking of doing the Petit Fours for a laugh, but the recipe says you need one cup of sugar for the cake component - all they are is a cut up and decorated sponge cake - then one kilo of sugar to glaze them, and then three cups of sugar for the icing.
