I think Chicago compares fairly well.

100%. Chicago is the best comparison for Toronto. Chicago is a bit bigger metro-wise, but is virtually the same in the city-proper. Both have an extremely bustling downtown street (Yonge St in Toronto and Michigan Ave in Chicago). Lastly, both are situated next to a lake.

Yonge St. is an absolute dump compared to Michigan Ave. Queen St. W is a better example of a bustling street in Toronto.

I have been to NYC countless times, yes I know it is much bigger than Toronto.

Chicago may have a few similarities to Toronto, but I wouldn't call them sister cities.

Toronto is in its own "special category", special as in needs.

Having lived in both Chicago and Toronto, there are some similarities and also some glaring differences.

Similarities would include the population of the two cities being about equal, both cities being on a Great Lake, very similar weather, both cities are laid out in a grid pattern making it easy to navigate, both cities have hideously bad traffic and Downtown Toronto and the Chicago Loop have a very similar look and feel.

Torontonians are definitely far more reserved and harder to break the ice with whereas Chicagoans have that friendly Midwestern vibe going on and are pretty easy to strike up conversations with. I think girls in Toronto are better looking, less fatties than Chicago but are definitely bitchier with shittier attitudes than Chicago girls. Torontonians definitely have this weird inferiority complex going on too, always wanting to compare themselves to NY. I always found that to be strange. Chicagoans don't have that issue going on, they're pretty comfortable being the "Second City" with its own unique culture, similar to, say the way Montrealers view themselves. Obviously Chicago has a serious violent crime problem that Toronto doesn't have (although as I understand it, it's getting worse up there). There isn’t one bar on Yonge street I’d ever frequent now that Bar Volo is closed, regardless of how bustiling it is in the day time. As far as how to compare it to American cities- the jobs/events of nyc, size of Chicago, cost of living of Philly/San Diego, and people of Minneapolis/St Paul.

So I went to Caribana and it was great although I arrived late so missed the parade, I got stuck on the Gardiner Expressway for an hour, it took that long to move 500 meters, fml. I got hooked up with a great guest suite for $80 that was walking distance to the Caribana party which, by the time I arrived was still a massive party. Although we missed the parade, there was still a ton of people around and mini concerts along the stretch which must have been about two kilometers. The crowd was amazing, so much pussy about, it was probably 90% black, there was tens of thousands of people there, I didn't even know Canada had that many black people, I was basically walking around with a massive boner the entire time because there were so many hot black chicks. It was pretty hot too, so many girls were wearing next to nothing, it was like I wasn't even in Canada because random people were openly selling beers for $5 out of coolers and people were blazing reefers everywhere. Myself I had a few pre-rolled joints on me and got super baked just walking around and stopping at the mini concerts and slamming beers with RVF member NomoreTO.

By the time we left the Caribana festival, I was very tired from the heat/sun, beers and reefers so I chilled until later that night and NomoreTO and I went out for supper then met up with Rudebwoy at a hotel bar. That place wasn't really my scene, so we just hung out for a bit then called it a night. It was great to finally meet up with Rudebwoy, he's a really cool guy and I look forward to meeting up with him again. The next night he picked me up and we hung out for a bit on King Street West as the bars were closing and that place was a bit of a zoo, too many young drunk idiots for my liking.

The next day I went to my favourite Sunday bar, I forget the name of it but its a block from Liberty Bellwoods park and they have $4 caesars so I dranks a few of those and then went and smoked a bunch of weed in the park, which was full of people doing the same thing and openly drinking booze, apparently the cops in Toronto don't care about drinking in public, which is great.

I didn't go to any Caribana after parties or anything, I was happy to just be at the day event for a couple of hours although I really regret missing the parade but all in all it was another fun week in Toronto. Exactly. Thats why I hate clubs sometimes cause its a huge ratio of Muslim arab guys who are so thirsty. What makes me mad is that you come here and should accept the whole culture.
