Fasting for a day or even two is no biggie, Mormons do it frequently and they're one of the physically healthiest groups in America.

Fasting longer than that is a bad idea. You'll be cannibalizing yourself.

This toxic this and toxic that sounds like pseudoscience.

Dr Longo’s Fast Mimicking Diet might be a healthier alternative for most of the benefits (5 days @ 700 calories, low protein)

There is some science indicating fasting promotes longevity, but it's not definite.

If you decide to go this route, do it under medical supervision.

Personally I think the best expert on long water fasting is loren lockman -- who runs a fasting centre in Costa Rica and has many you tube videos.

Probably should be retitled as “fasting” to avoid confusion.

No such thing as “water” fasting i.e. conscious abstainence from drinking water.
LOL, dry fasting is a thing, and it's becoming more popular.

Yeah, operative word being “conscious”. You’d have to be a moron to attempt such foolishness.

I'm building up to a 10 day fast once a year. I've done a 5 day, and I'm going for a 7 day next. Well done.

Congrats I also did a 10 days water fast last month. However because I was still working out during it I supplemented my water with sodium an and potassium.
Have you come across The Snake Diet on youtube? plenty of infos on water fasting, dry fasting and ketosis.

Looked it up. The guy recommends complete fasting with no ingestion whatsoever, and salt fasting which includes potassium chloride. That shit is used in lethal injections: https://infogalactic.com/info/Potassium_chloride

I think I'll pass.

I'll vouch for the benefits, it's legit. Detoxification is bullshit but lot of medically proven health benefits to fasting.

Is this compatible with lifting?

It doesn't feel like it would be...

Yup for 1 month trained 2 sessions of bjj 1 gi, 1 no-gi, then lifted right after full body every day for that month while eating every alternate day. No soreness, no negatives, lifts went up, if I needed to get shredded again would do it again.

Water fasting = Drinking only water and zero food.

Dry fasting = Zero water and zero food.

Yeah, half the internet screams at you, that you will die after 3 days without water. It's nonsense.

Maybe if you're an infant, a small child or spend all your days in the desert or under the hot summer sun all day, then yes you might die...but in most cases you will be fine as long as you stay at home and take it easy. How do I know this ? Cause I went 5 days and 5 nights straight with ZERO food AND ZERO water last year. Yes, no liquids for 5 days.

My advice:
If you're going to try it, have a friend/relative/girlfiend with you during the fasting to make sure you don't faint when getting up from a sitting or lying position. That's the biggest danger when doing serious fasting...hitting your head by fainting when you get up too fast. Get up as slowly as possible.

Many people who don't know anything about fasting think that they have to eat three times a day -- and if they miss a meal they may get a heart attack and die.

When I tell them I have done 10 fasts with relative ease, their mind stretches out to beyond disbelief and its like their brain is about to shut down bc they simply cannot comprehend one can go without food for even a few hours.

Now I am saying that doing 21 - 30 day fasts with water are the norm that one must do (and many have already done) to get good results and many on this forum are having a hard to time even comprehend if that is even possible. When not only is it possible, it is the norm. Nothing special about doing a 21 - 30 day fast.

Bobby Sands did this in 1981. It was very politically and inspirationally effective, but not very supportive of the health claims.

Do you recommend including sun-gazing in the process?

No.
Do not mix sun gazing with fasting unless you are very experienced in both.

In fact, if you are a beginner in fasting of 2 days of more straight, you should avoid most other activities and stay at home and be supervised most of the day (and always have immediate access to food and water if you need to stop your fast).

A big congratulations on your achievements... but Damn you're going a bit hard on us Non-Fasteners. What you've stated would be the equivalent of Zukerberg & Bill Gates chillin saying how easy it is to make Billions. 30 days fasts Conveys your excellence Yes... but doesn't really convinces Us to join the Fasting movement at all! Too extreme off the Bat!

I had a previous blood test with results done some months back -- so I knew where I stood. The post fast blood test results showed huge improvements. So fasting is indeed a direct way to improve one's inner health in a short time. The slow way of trying to improve inner health does not work well bc one bad day of eating can mean you have to start over again from the beginning. The rapid method by fasting is most effective.
