I got that e-mail the other day. He conveniently failed to mention extradition law with the US in pretty much all of those countries.

Check out this map.

I could remain incognito in a lot of places but if the law was coming after me real hard and I wanted to avoid extradition, the question becomes, where could you go?

From the looks of that map, doesn't seem like there's many good choices out there.

I would stay right here in Brazil , in a small beach town up there in the northeast..living the simple life.

Or anywhere in Poland if I could take the cold winters.

Work doing manual labor in the Dakotas.

Lots of people are still paid cash under the table.

Live in a small trailer on some acreage.

Lots of criminals are never found - or only found decades later - using this strategy.

Extradition issues aside, I'd think you could disappear in northern Thailand (Chiang Mai is the city I'm alluding to). Live cheaply, bang cute girls (hotter up north than in the south where BKK is), and there are enough foreigners there that you won't stick out like a sore thumb.

True story. This guy that used to work for me got caught with underage porn on his computer a year and a half ago by the Feds. They took his passport and computers.

I told him to get the fuck out of here and he thought about it and hired a lawyer. Not a word for one year and then they came down on his house like the swat team and arrested him. He spent 70k on legal and got 12 years in Federal prison. He's gone as of last month.

I told him just to have someone sail him to Cuba and lay low. Taiwan also doesn't really have strong extradition laws and he used to live there and loved it. Stupid!

Moral here. Get that second passport while you can. I'm just fine living on a sailboat off the Cuban coast or on a Greek island.

We debated this for a year. What did he deserve. I guess he developed some sort of schoolgirl fetish in Asia.

The thing is he was back in college and after his wife left him he started this. It was documented that he had an appointment via the counselor at the school to see a doctor for the problem.

12 years though for images in a hardrive is a bit much.

Yeah in the UK he would no doubt have got community service. Your judges in the US certainly don't mess about when passing sentence! I don't really see a correlation with his under age porn and his wife leaving him though,seems like an excuse. Still,I'm no counsellor.

I'm not paranoid. I know how they retrieve the info they need. This is the first place they look. In my case this forum would be because I spend the most of my time online here.

Thailand, Laos, Vietnam.

This is all assuming that you have a nest egg. You can really stretch it in these places.

As regards to the original question: Maybe one of the unrecognised countries would be a good choice? Transdniester,Abkhazia,South Ossetia or Nagorno Karabagh. Marry a local girl,get a local passport and then know there was little your country could do to get you back. Failing that Russia/Belarus. Have strong contacts in both.

I have always thought if I had to do more than a few years in the pen I would just cut out. I have two family members doing life on three strikes, and a lot of my family has been to prison (not just jail), and I would just say fuck that. I would rather bounce out and live my life somewhere else. My family and friends would come to visit me occasionally anyways.

I think you would have to find somewhere that you could get some very legit looking paperwork and fly under the radar. So many countries have extradition treaties with the US, and I would assume in the next 20-30 years whichever country you picked to live in may very well have one as well. I would try to get some fake paperwork, or real paperwork from a dead guy or somethin, and pick a place somewhere in Central/South America or the Caribbean.

I think it depends on what type of crime we are talkin here. Murder, yeah you might have to. A drug charge and living in a South American country with a passport? I'm pretty sure you would be fine.
