Elderly Japanese man struggling to solve ring puzzle... for 10 years

I am convinced just about anything can be funny if its narrated in Japanese. They have a great sense of humor. I'll never forget getting hammered at a HUB in Tokyo with some 30 year old business men, in Spanish, who just got back from working at a Toyota plan in Mexico... they were funny as shit.

I wasn't expecting that song from Final Fantasy 8 to pop up there.
I bet there's a major hurdle in life that needs to be solved in a similar way.
We're probably a ring puzzle equivalent away from curing cancer or something.
EDIT: I just remembered an example.
For a long time, Henry Ford and his engineers could not figure out how to make a V8 engine.
They kept telling him it couldn't be done. After trying so many times, they finally figured it out.
We need people like that in our society so we can finally get flying cars for crying out loud.

Here's another Knight Scoop where a viewer writes in what word people in different areas of Japan use when sprayed by water. Apparently every area is different and says words like AKI!
So of course they travel around the country shooting people with squirt guns

I loved it! I loved how the puzzle specialist simply knew how to do it. I love being dazzled by insane skills.

Why are there some stupid videos with double subtitles in the same language - nearly made the video unwatchable for me. Who benefits for doing subs all over?
Edit: Ok I figured out ho to switch off one of the subs - yet still I wonder why someone wasted his time and mine to make them.
The video is really funny trough - I love how Japanese people dont take themselves seriosly.

No doubt the guy who solved this puzzle is genius but I am thinking who made the puzzle must be an absolute genius. How people come up with these ideas to make such puzzles?

I could watch videos like these all day.
Hobby is such an integral part of Japanese life. Its often one of the stranger things that people notice when they go to Japan for the first time, that people can be so committed to an art or to a subject that they become experts. That girl with the umbrella; Its a source of pride of mastery. Not every one makes it part of their business, but some certainly master aspects of their business, while still maintaining a lot of time for hobbies on the side.
Its part of the reason that Japanese can live so long. Boredom is death of the soul, not surprising the body soon follows.
What a fantastic culture. Thank God they are hell bent on protecting it.

I thought one of the guys on the show looked familiar. Toshiyuki Nishida who played Pigsy on the tv show Monkey in the early 80's.

One of those endearing things about Japanese culture is that it's like a culture of nerd celebration. No matter what mundane subject matter you can think of (trains, flower arrangements, rice balls, etc.), there will be Japanese nerds out there completely dedicated to all of the little intricacies of such things and taking it to a completely unnecessary but amusing level, and the other Japanese people will be cheering them on instead of condemning them.
Like this Japanese lady who runs an umbrella store and is so dedicated to her craft that she can identify the different types of umbrellas just from hearing them open:
Someone should tell her opening an umbrella inside is bad luck.
