URGENT reply needed - What JOB offer should I accept?

Fellow RooshVers,

after a marathon of job interviews and some pet projects that I've started,
Now the time comes when I have to choose.Probably I'll receive the final offers between Mon-Wed this week, so here it goes:

*I'm a Marketing guy , 26 yo

1)Brazilian Company in the Tourism industry

Pros:
New ,dinamic company
Higher growth perspective in the next years
Requires eventual travelling

Working in this industry means: Special prices (travel agent fees)to buy plane tickets , hotels etc , building a network in the travel sector .

-Located very near my house in an area excellent for day game and with tons of public transport options.
Less time in traffic jams also means more time to work in my own projects

Cons:

The wage is "average" , benefits are not so good
Small/National

2)Korean company in the automobile industry (Tires)

Pros:
-Above average wage
-Multinational,Traditional company worldwide
-good location , but not so good as the first option
- Better benefits

Cons:

-No Growth perspectives in the next years (the employer already said me that)
-unknown work envinronment (asian culture)

3)Latin American Internet company (webhosting)

Pros:

-Dinamic , casual environment
-Big , traditional
-Better benefits
-Wage better than opt 1 but lower than opt 2

Cons:

-Very far from my house (Requires driving and being stuck in traffic jams)
-Located in a decadent/dangerous area of the town (no day game)
-IT people obviously are the priority of the company , so marketing is relegated to a 2nd,3rd degree of importance.

to summarize : company 2 and 3 are more "famous" , and that can be good for my resumee (My work record has being set in big/multinational companies)

Company 1 is smaller/newer but is in the travel business (excellent for building a network and acquiring knowledge for an int. pl. lifestyle) and provides a better location(close to home / day/night game area) and growth possibility in the next years (since this market in Brazil is growing at double digits)

thoughts?

I would go with 1, reasons: better logistics/life style, in an industry that is growing and will likely involve interacting with attractive women, but interacting with people in general. Also the travel. #2 I doubt you would enjoy, and #3, why would you want to sit in front of a computer if you have other options.

Dude, I have lived in both Korea and Brazil. 1 year in Korea, 2 & 1/2 months in Brazil.

Brazil was infinitely better, that's all I'm going to say.

Brazil was the best country I've ever been to. Korea sucks.

I'll play devils advocate on this one: go with Korea.

1) You'll have a higher wage, so you can probably put that towards developing an international playboy lifestyle. You could also save it to explore your own business ventures in the future.

2) By working in a larger, multinational company, you'll be able to have a really solid reference/work experience on your CV. This could come in handy if you're looking to transition into a different position in the future. You can also do tons of networking in a company like this.

3) You'll be in Asia. I can't stress how important having business connections in Asia is right now.

Ultimately, it's up to you, though. If you think you'd have more fun/be happier in Brazil -- obviously go there. I'm also very biased because most of my business is done in Asia right now and I love it over there.

From what you've described, if I were in your shoes I'd go with number one. If not one than number three. Moving to Korea is risky if you've never been before etc. Plus women wise, Korean women do not have a reputation for digging foreigners, unlike say, Japan. Also Koreans can be downright racist at times.

Well he never explicitly said he would have to move to Korea, but I'd say go with option 1 for sure, unless the other options pay at least 40% better.

I am not notorious for giving "business advice" but there is this principle I try to apply to my life... making the choices that gives you more "subjective happiness." And as it is "subjective", only you can know what gets you going...

And also, in my experience, only the choices that "makes you happy" bear any long-lasting fruit.

I think our host Roosh is a great example of that...

Which of those choices you see yourself having more fun? More joy? I'd say stick to that no matter what; only that will make sense and give what you need on the long run. Rationalizing about such things won't do much good... follow your gut, follow your joy, take risks.

No matter what.

Agree 100%. Being happy at your job is more important than the wage.

Not Korea. I worked there as a contractor and it was hellish - and this was for a "prestigious" company, on paper I should have loved it.

Either one of those LatAm offers sounds good.

PM me if you want a more in-depth discussion about this. If your offer was in Beijing or Shanghai we would be having a different conversation. This is not about Asia vs. LatAm, it's about Korea versus ANYTHING ELSE.

* Just to clarify :I'll be located in São Paulo , the 3 companies want me to stay based in São Paulo.
I'm not going to Korea!

-But in the Korean company almost ALL my co-workers (including boss) will be S Koreans ...so a very different work environment from what I'm used to.

I still vote one. Great prospects, great location, great game logistics and you will eventually get to travel.

Having extensive experience in the tourism industry, I can tell you personally you'll have an incredible time if you pick #1. Continue working hard and making smart choices and you will move up. The guys who slack off fall by the wayside.

Completely Agree!

You're 26....Time to get into something you think you might enjoy other than the money.

You live once,so as Joseph Campbell said :"Follow your Bliss"

Not always easy but essential for peace of mind and no regrets.
Tourism sounds the most interesting for your personality, more social interaction, and something you won't be bored with in 5 minutes.

If it doesn't work ,you can change,so don't worry!

Where will you be in five years after taking these jobs? (e.g., what have previous employees become?) Which job will teach you the most skills, expose you to the most information and opportunities, and open the most doors? Which looks best on your resume?

I'm on the same boat than you Mr. Gm, don't know what to do with my career.

If I were in your feet I would choose option 1.

I also would opt for the Brazilian company. I'm working for a Brazilian company in Macae and in a couple of weeks I will head down to Niteroi where I'll be based out of. I live in Rio so the commute wont be so bad. The company I work for is only a few years old, the growth potential is very good. We have already overgrown the warehouse and office space and have started building again.

OH BOY!

TALK ABOUT SINCRONICITY!

I wrote that post literally while I finished reading Joseph Campbell's The Power of Myth.

Follow your bliss.

That is the basic recepie on how the gates of the universe open up to you.

This is also known as fulfilling your Dharma, or getting in harmony with the Tao. Each one of us has these inner potentialities (which David Deida calls "gifts") that are somehow what we are to act upon, live out and give to the world. Only that which is Dharmic, is in accordance with the Tao bares longlasting fruit in life. And the easiest way to grasp that path, as Joseph Campbell puts it, is following your bliss, acting on your joy.

Funny thing is, as hard as it might be, when your pesist on that path, the universe responds accordingly, because you are gradually in tune with a wider cosmic intelligence.

Or so I heard.

That's true...if you Follow your Bliss then this brings you into contact with the people who are interested in the same things and so "doors open" ,of course takes persistence and talent to go to the top in everything worthwhile but it is all the journey.

You definitely must be brave in your choices because the pain of regret will be much harder than the pain of falling but trying.

Ha,interesting you were reading Campbell...I've only heard him speak but I will buy that Power of Myth.

Keeping the Poontang aspect of Travel Industry perks aside.
Where do you GROW the most? You said marketing, but I am wondering what kind of growth you'll have with each of them?

1) Good for short term fun, ..U have to check if it helps you Long term growth? Could this lead to better opportunities or starting your own Travel Company to make more profits? Short term perks are nice.. Could be that Break & Fun year.. out of a Corporation that sucks your life.
Then you find something else to pursue..

2) Good long term.. Short term work / life balance.. ? You'll have to check - Depends on the role you get.. & expectations they have.. ? If you represent the Korean company in SP.. and have a good role.. with Ko bosses then you could grow / learn a lot even if 1 yr work hard.

3) Some people I know started hosting company back in 1998 w 500$. Today, they are in 150+ countries w 300m $ rev.
You got to see what kind of GROWTH opportunity there is here.. ? Is this someplace that could become a LEADER in LatAm? And could you help it grow.. big time.. in a Good Role... ? Maybe they give you Stock Options so when u make it grow.. $$$?
Then you hire managers all across Latin Am/ Central Am and other regions.. to grow its sales more..

I am just sharing thoughts above, since its all a little abstract. You got to VISUALIZE yourself in 1, 3, 5 year milestones with each of the 3 directions. See what makes sense.. Short Term & Long Term.

GM - I also Email/ PMed you my work background to see about Brazil. Let me know over PM.

The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.

Weird, that youtube video implies that the economic system present in Star Trek would actually work.

George Lucas based his work on Campbell's "The Hero With a Thousand Faces".

Modern mythologies...

May the force be with you, young padawan.

Edit: Just to be clear: I know the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek, just thought it was worth mentioning the parallel's with classical mythology as Campell presents it and those same themes showing up with new clothing such as in sci fi...
