Woman climbs Mount Everest to prove vegans aren't weak, dies

I'm not playing a "what if" game. All my thoughts and comments are based on precisely what the woman and her mother said. I'm not going to assume that I know more about her especially when I know the media wants to sell a story.

Where is the evidence of this elaborate campaign she had to prove to the world that we are evil and wrong for eating meat? She made a few comments about proving vegans aren't weak when her university interviewed her about the climb - big fucking deal. Again, there is nothing about being morally superior or forcing her beliefs on others.

I've met vegetarians who avoid talking about being a vegetarian because they don't want to get into arguments so it is reasonable to assume that some vegans aren't trying to demonstrate moral superiority and change everyone's opinions about eating meat. Also, if someone dies then I'm giving her and her parents the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

But why would she bring it up then? If I were to do this, I wouldn't try to bring up any irrevelant detail about myself. Perhaps the media exaggerated the whole thing but either she wanted to prove that vegans are strong or she shouldn't have even mentioned it. I don't see how given the information we have our conclusions are really that far-fetched.

Is there a difference between vegetarians and vegans? If not, why the different names? If so, what are the differences?

She brought up her desire to show that vegans weren't weak. The conclusions that have no evidence supporting them are that she was a delusional idiot, felt morally superior to non-vegans, wanted to push her beliefs about not eating meat onto others, etc.

Vegetarians often eat stuff like dairy, eggs, and fish. So, an ovo-lacto vegetarian eats eggs and dairy, for example. Vegans avoid all animal products, period.

I disagree with weambulance but this post is not directed at him. It is directed to the newer guys, the guys who brought false information into this thread, and the guys who are consumed by their anger towards feminists, SJWs, liberals, etc.

Ringo brings up some points that aren't talked about much on this forum but they are talked about a lot by guys off of the forum.

A lot of people die trying to climb Everest - and many, many more way less daunting mountains as well.

As Phil619sd pointed out, humans are not meant for such extreme altitudes. Vegan or meat eater, that high up our default is to die. Surviving is a feat.

The fact that it was even possible that she could attempt this climb likely has to do with the business side of climbing Everest.

By way of money it's possible to get an excellent guide, a ton of supplies and a small army of sherpas to help carry all of it up the mountain. Jon Krakauer goes into this subject in "Into thin air".

Paying a pretty penny for the ticket up and having their hands held all the way to the top, some climbers artificially enhance their climbing skills - all they have to do is (try to) drag their bodies to the top. Don't get me wrong, it's a hard task. But the outcome is an inevitable arrogance that may cost their lives - again, see Krakauer's book on the 1996 expedition, which resulted in 8 deaths, of both clients and guides.

This thread reminds me a lot of a thread a while back where a single, depressed thirty-something woman commited suicide. Some members were rejoicing in her death like it was the best news they heard all day.

It goes without saying that this forum has a lot of fascinating men who always come through with great information, but there’s a general pessimism and – as BB pointed out – dark desire to fit everything into a certain narrative that is depressing.

Women need to stay in the kitchen; if you’re a girl over 30 with no kids you might as well die a horrible death; every single vegan in a weak simp; and so on. Some members’ lack of compassion towards other humans is gruesome. I wonder if this is just internet chest thumping or if they’re like that in real life.

RIP to the climber woman. Like so many men, a victim of her own ego and of pushing too hard into something she was probably too inexperienced to attempt.

Some of you guys really need to check yourselves, not for the benefit of the forum and certainly not for the benefit of me, but for the benefit of yourselves.

Don't let anger consume you because it will fuck you up.

I've seen it happen. I've seen men ruin their lives and I've known men who took their own lives. You may not view the world as a friendly place toward men right now but if you can't find some positiveness and can't separate yourself from the angry sections of the manosphere then you will drown in your own negativity.

The woman may have succumbed to Mt. Everest, but she will always be remembered for causing the greatest amount of web traffic on an RVF thread and on the RVF twitter account in a long time. RIP

HD668B beat me to it! I just noticed that on eBaumsWorld last night, but hadn't had time to post it yet.

Also, Soma deserves all the credit for coming up with what is, undoubtedly, one of the greatest thread titles of all-time.

Bumping this thread in light of the death of the Chinese rooftopper. Because the meme is savage AF, and made history on RooshVforum.

I was just surfing the ancient threads and checked this thread out last night.

Deja vu!!

Edit: two posts above there is an eBaum post with an arm and hammer logo for RVF. I've never noticed this before. Does anyone know the history on this?

Edit 2: Birthday cat has a link above to Mr. Lemon's thread about his heart attack, after which he never posted again. Recommended reading, which I need to take to heart myself.
