Philippines is the worst country i've ever visited...

On the other hand, I didn’t enjoy my last stays in the Philippines. The girls were too obsessed with my skin tone, didn’t care much about my game or looks. As a consequence, I started to dress worse and my game deteriorated since I almost needn’t put in work anymore.
I find pinay women very unreliable - they consistently show up one or two hours late on dates. It didn’t help that any venues frequented by westerners had its share of trannies.

I don’t intend to step into someone’s shoes, but I consider Manila an ideal destination for game newbies who want easy pussy. But as soon as quantity affects quality, there are way better destinations, imo HK, SG and BKK.

I don't get it myself other than for a trip to Borocay if I was in the region, or a short trip to any other idyllic destination in the nation.

I suppose that most of it is that I find attractive Pinays to be much rarer. Add to that the poverty and other negatives and it doesn't make my list for a destination that I'd choose unless I was looking for a cheap, tropical retirement on the other side of the planet. In terms of Asian women, I prefer Chinese, Korean, or Japanese. I'd prefer Thailand for culture and a cheap vacation. A long time ago, I learned that buying into things that are a jack of all trades and master of none is a strategy that tends to leave me dissatisfied.

I'm just happy to see you managed to beat that "automatic sex tourist" label, OP.

Would hate to see it hamper your ability to go to a third world country and look down on the local population while leveraging your birthright to enjoy lots of easy sex with the usual foreigner-chasers.

OP aim higher than that. You are in Philippines. Chubster girl on left WNB even if drunk. If you like the tanned skin look the girl on the right looks more like the standard foreign chasing girls on FC. Both regardless wouldn't gather much attention here.

Also the one uppers who say they've been to worse places then Manila, never got the point to waste your money going to a 3rd world country with no infrastructure. Who the hell wants to live in Kampala unless its for work.

^ Travel should not be about seeking out and clinging to the safe and comfortable places.

That is just a paradigm of the latest crop of travelers, whose traveling seems to only be enabled by the sheer ease of modern travel. And who only a small handful of decades ago would have chosen to stay home rather than brave the dangers and discomforts found on the road or abroad.

Some of us still travel for raw adventure, for new experiences, to learn about other cultures, and to gain unique insights about the human experience and the nature of reality.

Some of us still wish it were less comfortable, to create more barriers of entry for the rest of the jokers and to leave more of the world left to explore.

Fortunately, the approach of the usual modern traveler makes finding the places that aren't sterilized yet a pretty predictable process.

After banging a handful of girls i could easily pick up with one arm in the phils, I actually think the girl on the left is pretty cute. i would tear that up. She isnt a gym rat for certain. but she's def got a good waist to hip ratio and seems to have a decent rack. as far as skin tone? personal pref, but if i wanted white skinned asians i wouldn't go to the phils.

Some of us still travel for raw adventure, for new experiences, to learn about other cultures, and to gain unique insights about the human experience and the nature of reality.

I think the issue that most people find is that this novelty driven excitement wears off in any destination after the 3 month mark or so.

After that, the new place that was once magical somehow reverts to being normal; but it isn't normal in the sense that home was. It's normal but filled with millions of people who you can't communicate with and whose culture and sense of home you do not share.

The travel novelty high essentially akin to a dopamine flood that is induced by any drug. The reversion to a sense of normalcy and non-excitement is the slow decrease of dopamine back to pre-novelty levels.

So, the game becomes chasing the high by moving around a lot; seeking new stimulation to get the high back.

Once you realize this, you begin evaluating destinations on a smarter level. You begin to see the poverty, corruption, violence, and risk and count those into your assessment of the place as a travel destination. You begin to seek comfort not because you are afraid of discomfort or unadventurous, but merely because in your travels you begin to respect and appreciate civilization and the people who can create it more. This only comes after you dismiss the travel high as a cheap parlor trick of your brain chemistry. Though, I also admit that there is a more legitimate and longer lasting feeling when going to an objectively better civilization than what you are used to.

Would I travel to most countries? Yes. But at the same time I'm not going to get a travelers sense of wonderment in the midst of squalid conditions in spite of the mountain range on the horizon, the spiced food, the easy girls, or the cheap accomodations. As a cultural experience, I'd rather drink whiskey in a hotel bar in Tokyo and go out with Salarymen than I would rent a cheap hotel in Phils and pick up locals.

Despite being mostly a rant, I agree with your point - the notch was easy, but the Philippines is a perfect example of a country who lost its culture, and seen its culture swallowed by the Western way of thinking. Combine that with a poor country, and you get a hellhole with:

- Single moms everywhere
- Poverty and people eating in trash cans
- Kids begging for money to eat
- People wanting "tip" just because they gave you an information
- Etc. etc.

This is funny that you wrote this as I had a similar experience. I went to Manila recently and bought a 4 week round trip ticket and , while yes it was cheap and the girls were easy and fun to be around. There wasn't much culturally going on there because all the areas I stayed were trying to emulate america(makati/fort) so after a week I felt like I may as well be home except I'm just getting cheaper beer/food. I ended up booking a trip to Tokyo after like a week and a half in Manila and stayed in Tokyo for 7 days and in a day alone of just walking around shinjuku I already felt like the trip was worth it and my mind was completely altered( and I didn't even end up purchasing anything significant in Tokyo) . I flew back to Manila and stayed the extra week cause of my ticket and then enjoyed it alittle more because of Tokyo.

You misunderstood my post. It was not my intention to defend Manila.

I see lots of guys going to the Philippines and then they complain about the shithole factor.

If I never left my European home country and flew to Manila, I probably would be on Team "Worst Shithole I've Ever Seen."

Coming from an African shithole, I had a completely different impression on Manila, so I shared my point of view.

After all, that's the purpose of this forum, to share ideas and unusual perspectives.

Despite all the problems I encountered there, I wouldn't give up my experiences and adventures in this country for anything in this world. Waste of money? Certainly not.

Sounds like you were slumming it in Manila with regards to girls and doing the opposite with regards to where you live. The waters are the slum are deep and dark if you choose to swim in them... but I wouldn't advise it, though the girls are easy. Upper class areas tend to seem quite westernized, but that is very much a facade.
But you know, I understand why, path of least resistance and all.
Its ok, more for us that know [Image: tongue.gif]

If you think Filipinos have lost their culture you have truly not even scratched the surface of this extremely interesting and unique culture.
To be clear, they dont think like you... if you think that you simply never got to know anyone.

Edit: I am seeing 3 camps in this discussion.

Sexpats: Want easy and cheap... meh, standards are not high, many slums will suffice.

Those who want to see sites and experience a different culture but dont want to get their hands dirty.
The tradeoff here seems a more convenient experience with an easier entry barrier into seeing a bit of culture. But you will also be walking a well trodden road which is catered towards tourists.

I fall into the third: Those who want something raw and unadulterated. Not particularly interested in sight seeing or first world convenience. Tourist traps make you want to poke your eyes out. I find this more authentic and enjoy getting to know people over seeing landmarks or scenery (though those can be amazing too in the right company). The places you will enjoy will not cater themselves to your tastes. They will force you to bend and learn. You will need to work for that authentic experience.

No one place will satisfy all of these. In SE Asia... slums of Thialand and Philippines will satisfy the sexpat. Tourist trail in Thailand will satisfy someone who wants a bit more of a catered experience and the Philippines will satisfy someone who wants something unadulterated.
All of these perspectives seem valid to me, all depends on your needs.

Your post is very pseudo philosophical... Just because one doesn't go to the Philippines and live in tondo doesn't mean they missed out haha. I enjoyed my time there and would probably go back as it's a cheap flight and a good springboard into other countries in Asia also but I can also call a spade a spade as far as Manila is concerned. Interesting place to visit but it doesn't hold a candle to Korea or Japan.

Fair enough. I found Japan and Korea racist. The people were also very hard to connect with in Japan particularly, but both are fairly frigid and socially awkward. I suppose that may be linked to the decline in population and tentacle porn.

As far as the quality of women, im not into short bowed legs/crazy teeth, so that rules out Japan. The extremely materialistic nature and intense amount of plastic surgery in Korea doesnt do it for me. You ever see that cheap steak butchers make from offcuts using meat glue?

Those places are nice to see once, but the Philippines wins in my books.
Each to their own I guess.

Edit: Oh and I dont visit Tondo. I prefer high class girls and I enjoy staying in Makati [Image: tongue.gif]
There tends to be the assumption that you need to slum it to see the real [Insert place name here].
In my experience the social elite carry just as much culture while also being the most attractive and educated.

Yea so again different strokes... While I don't plan to go to Korea or Japan anytime soon because I'm stuck stateside for a while I had the opposite experience that you did. I had friends living in both Korea and Japan and people pick up on genuine interactions everywhere in the world. When I went somewhere I would talk to the owner of a shop for a half an hour or hour if they weren't busy. I was given all types of free meals and free entrances into places ( in Japan and Korea) I was invited into people's homes for a drink or so they could cook for me. So I def didn't see this racist thing that everyone jumps to about those countries. They are very xenophobic which I don't see how anyone foreign should have a problem with both countries are homogenous and aside from the wayward tourist( those are the ones generally treated very well) the only foreigners living in these countries tend to be military ( who Japan and Korea both dislike) and ESL teachers who are a hit and miss as to if they are reasonable adults or just some kid who couldn't get a job back home and just came out to Asia to get fucked up on cheaper alcohol.

I enjoyed the Philippines for what it is and do plan on going back because where I'm living right now it's a cheap plane ticket nonstop.

I already deal with wealthy elite people every day in America and Europe in my industry so going to a foreign country to do the same isn't really my goal when traveling somewhere for a few weeks since I'm not a backpacker trying to find the cheapest hostel hehe.

Fair enough, each to their own.
I can totally appreciate that japan/Korea will be best for some.
Though I wouldnt go as far to say it is better than the PI at all.
Just best for some.

Oh yeah, I had a LTR in Japan and spent time with friends and family.
So this is a generalization, but try actually living there instead of passing through.
In Japan/Korea you are subhuman. Politeness doesnt count.

Woah, hold on there Barrel, I understand the guy in your video is frustrated but that whole interaction that he's referencing is hardly a good example of Japanese people being arrogant. Can you imagine any 70 year-old couple in america walking up to a hispanic young man and trying out their Spanish on him (in an attempt to get to know him.)? Then the Hispanic refuses to speak Spanish (implying that the gentleman's language skills were inadequate), so the old woman is intimidated, or has simply been trained to be submissive to her husband. Big Deal!! Get a thicker skin. The dude is a whiner.

Having lived in Japan for more than a decade and speaking fluent japanese but also being 6' tall with red hair, I've had soooo many interactions like this I can't count them. And, yeah, they do get tiresome. So what?? I bet he doesn't complain when people buy his beer in the evening. Or someone, he doesn't really know from the neighborhood, drops off a new years gift or he's treated as a member of the company and taken on company trips, or his SMV gets him laid despite being a whiny beta. right???

In any interaction there are always interpretations. The Japanese, and any other race, have a unique perspective on how people should behave. Frankly, if the 70 year old man made a video about the borish young American that he just met on the riverside, it would be just as valid as this one!

So, if we're gonna drink it in.. how about we condemn Americans for being shallow, self-centered and self-pitying? That's OUR fault and a major shortcoming of OUR culture.

That guy in that video is the EXACT type of person that ends up propagating all these stories about Japan/Korea being terrible places . He is a loser ESL teacher because he couldn't make it back in the west and then spends all day complaining about how "backwords" Japan is. If you look at his page almost all the videos are negative. Again he goes to JAPAN which has a 99% homogenous race/culture and most people barely interact with foreigners cause there are not many around comparatively and the first thing he does is get MAD at a Japanese person for speaking English to him an obvious foreigner. ...

I wouldnt call it arrogance at all actually.
Its more racism, and a xenophobic culture that finds it hard to empathize.
I wouldnt discount the guy because he is beta, this is still a very real thing people encounter in Japan. If you can live with it, and there are other benefits that you enjoy, more power to you.
Well, Im not from America, but make no mistake... every culture has shortcomings, mine included. Interesting that you pointed that out since this thread is all about pointing out the shortcomings of the Philippines.

So when someone says, the PI sucks for X reason, these places are better... I think its fair to say these places also have shortcomings, here they are. Each to their own.

He is actually reacting to the woman who wouldnt address him directly, even though he was speaking Japanese to her. She really isnt trying to be rude, she simply lacks the social sensibilities.
To put it simply, if he looked Japanese instead of European, she would have spoken to him when adressed in Japanese.
This isnt like aggressive white power racism curb stomping someone, this is ingrained, polite racism. It is so much a part of the way she sees the world I dont think she understands what she is doing or why it is bad. It is a worldview you need to contend with in Japan.
So wouldnt even say she is a bad person as a result.
Still a shortcoming of the culture, just as all cultures have weaknesses.

So Japan/Korea arent terrible places... but they are not better than the Philippines. Just different.

Barrel is 100% correct about being seen as subhuman.

Every Asian country pretty much started off worshipping foreigners. As the years passed, that turned around completely until today where white guys are seen as losers who couldn't handle it back home.

You would have had to live in China from 2009 to 2015 to fully appreciate this phenomenon. 2009 to 2011 I had people walking up to me and asking to take photos like I was a movie star, girls after me left and right. 50% of girls on the street eyefucking me. By 2014 i was treated as subhuman. In 2009 marrying a foreigner would have made a Chinese girl's friends so jealous. By 2013 marrying a foreigner meant "losing face".
