I can empathize with both videos, however I thought the cranky one was made by a guy who is purposely uncomfortable in his own skin. He uses indignation like a drug, and is immoderate.
Philippines is the worst country i've ever visited...
@Filmore- Im glad you got yoursef sorted out in the Phis. None of the locals ever told me to ever go to Manila, but rather Cebu, or Davao, or somewhere N. of Manila. I've learned a lot about the culture over the last few years, even down to cooking some main dishes. Damn near anywhere I will at least have a local family to act as a safety net. Social circles always help. Have you noticed the girls point with their lips? There are millions of pinays in the Middle East, not the same quality as there, but once in awhile you see a stunner.
The Phils hasn't been on my radar, but I'm probably just gonna have to suck up the long flight and get it over with. Its been years since I sat on a tropical island and relaxed.

Well where I am there are few foreigners, try and find a city in the Philippines of 750k population with such a low percentage of expats, it will be swarming with fat aged silver head warriors on mopeds with a teenage boys/girls clinging to them.
Most of the foreigners I know here are in relationships, I don't have one dedicated wing man at the moment which is a problem

Why are you bashing on a country that you have never been too and have no experience with ? How much Asia experience do you have anyway ?
You were saying crap about the phils in this thread too, whilst never have been there:

Dude, seriously? Are you kidding? I'm laughing my ass off because I've been in a number of large provincial cities in the Philippines, and I was one of the ONLY white guys. I asked a number of girls I banged in these places, they said they met few white guys. Even Manila is low on foreigners.
You're probably judging Philippines based on your experience in Thailand....let me assure you, the Philippines is nothing like Thailand when it comes to the number of slimy old beta expats.
I believe you actually.
Thailand is fine though, because these old pervs are mixed in with some other normal foreign expats and tourists.

It looks like you're not able to handle the third world yet. Your post is so pathetic. If you can't handle beggars and people staring at you in a super safe country like the Philippines, I suggest you never come to Medellin where I live. People here will shoot you just for crossing an "invisible border" and you might even get raped on the street by some Colombian gay gang. Beggars and staring would be the least of your worries if you ever set foot in a dangerous country like Colombia.

Want to eat "Ok" food you will be paying US prices because anything under $350 pesos here is complete shit. I got one notch my first day here and i would later put her picture up, I just don't even want to pull out my nice Camera in the mist of all this people (I am in a public area) but the amount of pussy in this place is not worth stepping in here.
I'm still dealing with paranoia from my condom breaking in HK and now i stepped in here and I feel like vomitting the moment i step out of my hotel because is downright disgusting, Jeepney Horn sounds everywhere, people eating out of fucking garbage cans, everywhere is fucking crowded and not just "crowded" i mean crowded as in.. this country needs to exterminate 65% of their population to just be able to be livable, the amount of people here is insane.. just put it like this.. It feels like NYC x 2 and throw in Hong Kong and throw in the population density of Philadelphia mixed together in one city but picture people eating out of garbage cans and standing on the the street with no shirt on and forget about coming out to the streets dressed good....it will be hell you will have someone asking you for money every minute.
Unless you are coming here to feed the poor, stay away....Thailand is like Manhattan and this is Detroit.
Oh yeah... I'm eating breakfast now..there's nothin on this fucking menu that does not include white stale rice and some nasty sausages, who the fuck eats white unflavored rice at 8:00am.. Thailand i miss you.

communist and ex-soviet countries are considered 2nd world while all other countries except the European Union, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan are considerere 1st world.

I want to apologize for this stupid post, after 2 months in the Philippines I will say this...
Mahal ko ang Pilipinas!! there's no better place to be in south east asia than the Philippines. Yes my 1st week was spent in Adriatico street in Malate which was not so nice and full of beggers and hookers etc but a friend of the family for 15 years found out i was here and invited me to Bacolod city in Negros Occidental and let me tell you..it's a huge difference now that i have a social circle, I am banging girls everyday.
And after learning a bit of tagalog and being a young Latino all this girls just find me interesting and they are so easy to talk to..
Sorry for the bullshit topic..
If you love thick big booty asians Philippines is for you.
Are you serious about phillipines big booty chicks? Are you a white dominican or a mullato? How do you think mullatos will do in Phillipines?
I havent read a single good thing about brothers that have been there, im wondering if light skin brothers have a better experience there.
Any foreigner will do well in the philippines, but young white blond guys are still the top of the food chain here. As a latino american, I get confused as half italian and half filipino all the time. That gives me a huge advantage over 95 percent of filipino men. This is by far the easiest country Ive encountered in terms of banging.
As far as booties go, they have the best in Asia but not at the level of latinas.
I get mistaken for a "Phil Am" as well but it works better for me because filipinas are very self concious of what people think about them.. when you step into the provinces you might end up being the only foreigner in any given spot and any girl with a reputation to loose will not talk to the bradd pitt blonde guy for fear of being labeled a whore(he'll have to open the girl up himself).. but with me they actually are opening me up.. they even tell me i look like a certain Filipino actor or whatever.. man i love this people.
I am past 59 days so i had to fly into singapore yesterday for a visa reset and man this place fucking sucks.. full of stuck up bitches and bullshit pros...atleast there's good deals on clothes.. i hit up uniqlo and h&m in orchard yesterday got me some nice shirts and a few blazers and i will extend my filipine trip for 3 more months fuck it.
you dont need to exit the country after 59 days. You can stay for 18 months without having to leave
The Phil. does have a major upside. You can get TRADES training there very cheaply. There is an auto mechanic course there in a community college which costs about 500 Canadian dollars for the entire YEAR. I was looking into the welding/mechanic/electrician courses for both my wife and I, before we head back to Canada... the total cost for both of us would be around 2400. Living expenses included might come to around 7500 Canadian for the entire year.

Thats actually pretty good advice. There's always work for a welder.
So how does this work ?
How many hours a week? Do you have to take other classes too?

In spite of friendly people, Manila is not too pleasing, but you should get out of the city and head to the islands. Seriously, I don't know if my info is out of date, but back in the day, you could get to the Center Point Hotel, get a bus to Batangas Port, board a boat to Mindoro Island, dock at Puerto Galera, and get a jeepney to Sabang.
Sabang isn't the most beautiful beach, but it's a fun place.

Not sure why you would want to get out of Manila.
Best food, best women, all the conveniences you could hope for.
If you are looking for a beach holiday go somewhere that is good at that...
Palawan, Boracay etc.
The main thing about the Philippines is that you need to understand there are no training wheels here. Nothing will be catered to you since their tourist industry isnt exactly booming like Thailand.
The whole "disgust at seeing a 3rd world country thing" that is the premise of this thread seems naive and sheltered.
Probably stick to tourist traps in Thailand if it bothers you.

For those who have been to both, what would you say Cebu City is like compared to Metro Manila, especially around upper class day time stomping grounds like IT Park and Ayala Mall?
I was hoping Cebu City might strike the balance between enough numbers hot girls but at least reasonably pleasant immediate surroundings. (There's no need really to go out to the most poor parts of town as the mall serves as the meeting point for most.)

Cebu is better overall for quality of life and ease of surroundings. The women are hit or miss in my opinion. A lot of guys sing Cebu's praises but I find Cebuanas to be the most obnoxious Filipinas overall.
I'm not sure why exactly because it's not like Cebu is full of outrageous hotties. It's just average compared to just about any middle class orientated city in Manila but it's just in a less dense population. Maybe the breathable air and easy to reach vacation beach spots makes guys rank this higher on the list.
Of course some guys have wonderful experiences there but in my experience the best girls in Cebu tend to be from other places originally.
Cebu is great to base out of and fly out to scuba destinations though. Ease and general cost of living in Cebu is very attractive.
I couldn't stand being in Cebu other than it being a great location to take the bus/ferry to other beaches.
I loved the grind and grit of Manila.

Lots of forum members name Manila a shithole, but I even consider a lesser area such as Ermita or Malate as the first world in comparison to some African cities.
Let’s compare Manila with Kampala, capital of Uganda:
-There are almost no taxis in whole Kampala;
-No Light Rail, MRT and no trolleybuses, just minivans and tricycle taxis;
-Traffic even worse than in Manila as there are no expressways and roads have small capacity;
-Only three or four shopping malls in the whole metropolis, which aren’t designed as a city-inside-the-city like in Manila, but consist of a shitty supermarket, a snack bar and a souvenir shop;
-A hotel with air condition starting at 100$ a night;
-Most cars from the 1990’s and lots of motorbikes on the streets – air pollution much much worse than anywhere in SEA;
-Most products more expensive than in SEA as everything must be imported from Asia or Europe;
-Lots of products or services not available;
-Vaccinations against numerous diseases such as Yellow Fewer as well as Malaria repellents are highly recommended;
-Expensive flight tickets (no cheap getaway to a nearby country), and only stopover flights to a seaside destination in Kenya or Tanzania;
-Idiotic situations happening every day, such as bent cops try to get bribes from you, no water and/or electricity for hours, days, even weeks.
This list is absolutely not exhaustive. Anyone complaining about Manila would experience a Grade A culture shock in most African countries. No wonder there are almost no African data sheets and trip reports on the forum.
