Kiprono is ready for Malia

Quote:Quote:

A city lawyer has a special request for President Barack Obama.
His dream is to marry one of Obama’s daughters, Malia, and he is ready to pay 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats as bride price.

Speaking to The Nairobian, Kiprono, who hit the headlines when he moved to court seeking to have William Ruto sworn in as president when Uhuru travelled to The Hague for his ICC case, said he is ready to meet Obama to discuss the matter when the US president visits in July.

I got interested in her in 2008. As a matter of fact, I haven’t dated anyone since and promise to be faithful to her. I have shared this with my family and they are willing to help me raise the bride price,” he said.

The young lawyer claims his love for Malia is real and not infatuation.
He claims Malia has Kenyan blood since her father Obama has Kenyan roots.

“People might say I am after the family’s money, which is not the case. My love is real,” he said, adding that, “I am currently drafting a letter to Obama asking him to please have Malia accompany him for this trip. I hope the embassy will pass the letter to him. I will hand it over to the US Ambassador with whom we have interacted several times.”

The lawyer said that should Obama accept his request, his engagement to the ‘love of his life’ will be “unique with a twist.”

“If my request is granted, I will not resort to the cliché of popping champagne. Instead, I will surprise her with mursik, the traditional Kalenjin sour milk. As an indication that she is my queen, I will tie sinendet, which is a sacred plant, around her head,” he said.

Kiprono adds that he will avoid expensive hotels in the city.
“I will propose to her on a popular hill in Bureti near my father’s land where leaders and warriors are usually crowned. The place is called Kapkatet, which means ‘victory’, adding, “ours will be a simple life. I will teach Malia how to milk a cow, cook ugali and prepare mursik like any other Kalenjin woman,” he said.

This is not the first time that Kiprono has propositioned the Obama family either. Earlier this month he asked Kenyan authorities to grant Obama dual American-Kenyan nationality, and present him with his citizenship when he arrives in the country later this year.

Speaking to Citizen News at the time, he said: 'Instead of the Kenyan delegation receiving Obama with a banquet of flowers, they should present him with a Kenyan identity card and passport as soon as he sets foot in Kenya. A perfect homecoming to a Kenyan son.'

The dowry, or bride price, is an ancient marriage tradition among Kenya's tribal community and is intended to ensure a strong marriage as the husband's family can demand the payment back if their daughter-in-law leaves. The typical dowry size is five years worth of the husband's income, which can either be paid in cash, or livestock, and may be paid upfront or in installments which may stretch over years.

Malia is not the first presidential child to be offered a dowry in return for their hand in marriage. In 2009, Kenyan shop owner Godwin Kipkemoi Chepkurgor offered Hillary Clinton 40 goats and 20 cows in return for daughter Chelsea's hand in marriage. Chepkurgor, who was already married to childhood sweetheart Grace at the time, said Chelsea appeared to be a 'beautiful, disciplined and well-natured woman.'
Speaking to CNN at the time, he said: 'Of course I have never met her, but I like her family and how they stick together. I've waited for a long time. I'm still waiting to meet her and express my love.'

The thirst is strong in this one! Yet another case of beta bucks, now even in Africa! Why would you possibly offer such a high dowry to a girl that cannot even make porridge or prepare sour milk? Way to feed female entitlement! Also consider that she is already 16 and still unmarried. Surely there must be a reason for that? Her father should feel lucky enough that there even is a man willing to take her in. I mean yes, she probably inherited her mother´s strength and aura of domin determination, and are American women not famous all over the world for their particular milking skills? So he has his motives, but someone should really talk to him about thinking this through again, before the President takes him up on the offer and it´s too late.

Anyway, there´s another interesting thing. Notice that Malia´s market value priced in lifestock seems to be a bit more than double the one of the aging Chelsea Clinton back then. Free market at work.

This is an excellent offer, any father would be a fool turn it down.

I advise him to accept this bid before she gets older and her price drops.

(and before you make fun of this young man, livestock are significantly more useful than some fucking $10,000 diamond ring most men end up buying for the 'rights' to marry some whale).

I can see taking the cows and the sheep, but what the heck are you supposed to do with those goats in the US? Make goat cheese?

You've also got the complexities and expense of moving livestock internationally.

Way more than the ISIS crowd was valuing her mother at... Still, the man's suit game needs work he looks like a sartorial simpleton. Do they not have tailors in Kenya? He looks like he's wearing his dad's clothes.

You can make curry goat with the goat and also sell the goats milk to French people.

On a serious note, what kind of guys do you think she'll go after? I think she'll oscillate between white or jewish guys and chance the rapper type black guys and end up with a white or jewish husband.

I think that she will be honored to be married to a socially awkward incel who will remain faithful to her for life. Obama after the election will be worth hundreds of millions or even a billion +, so the suitor has to up the offer.

Besides - rich women don't care for Beta Bucks.

In America they get the house, the kids and a paycheck for life when they leave. These guys have the right idea.

Goat cheese is really underrated...I love goat cheese salads.

This is a good bid for her but given the thirst in America and the low standard of women that's forced on men (along with the near-enslavement marriage laws) she'll probably bang away her 20s in DC and then marry some thirsty, poor sappy rich beta who bails her out in her late 30s. No consequences for fat entitled women in the West!

I guarantee you, she is with strictly white guys. I'd like some other posters to try to give me some explanation in opposition.

What makes you say she is strictly with white guys? I have no idea, but it I would bet she dates the professional black "good guys" especially considering how pro black her mother is. Very doubt she will go for a rapper

Dads is probably right: The reason is social circle/socialization.

Her father is a millionaire politician, she's not going to her local zoned public school. She socializes, works, and hangs-out the offspring of other millionaire politicians, who are mostly not Black.

In the summer I go to BBQ's where we play football and listen to old Michael Jackson songs. She eats endive salads at brunch with her rich (mostly White and Asian) friends' in houses with property taxes that are more than my gross income.

You get the point: Her husband will likely be a nebbish Jewish or Asian guy.

I think Malia is a very pretty girl, and she clearly got her father's east-african looks. Sasha looks a lot more like her mother, and thus more typically African-American (West African).

I have to say that I'm intrigued by these ancient customs of bride price/dowry. Why do African societies use bride price (husband pays), while Indian society uses dowry (bride pays)? What social structures account for this difference. What happens if the bride price is paid, the marriage goes south, and the bride's family cannot repay the bride price. What is the husband's recourse?

Not an expert on this, but it may possibly have something to do with matrilineal vs patrilineal inheritance. I don't know, really. What I know is that customs vary very widely from tribe to tribe. In Ghana, for example, the Frafra are notorious for setting a very high standard bride price of eight cows. Other tribes might demand sheep or goats, money, or some combination of cash, goods, and/or livestock. In some cases the family is the main beneficiary, in others the bride herself gets most of the goodies.

I actually had one of my girls bring me the whole list of required items in her family. The bride price included a suitcase, cloth, clothes, shoes, jewelry, a Bible, and cash for her; money, cloth, and whiskey for the parents; smaller sums of money for the siblings and elders; and then more whiskey, beer, and soda for unspecified recipients. The cash only amounted to about 400 dollars total, so unless the jewelry has to be expensive it's really not too bad at all.

It's also religious.

In Islam the husband has to pay the dowry (Mahr).

Add to that the local customs. In Senegal the husband's family has to make a relative lot of gifts to the future wife's parents (mother in particular, as expected. Then father, aunts, nieces...) and do a ceremony for everyone (delicious meals, drinks, fiesta etc). And of course the general focus is on the bride too.

Bride price – could be that a woman is seen as property and that she’s being bought?
Dowry – the bride is seen as a burden on the groom’s family, so her family has to compensate the groom’s family for the burden of taking her on.

I’m totally against all of this kind of stuff, a lot of women get killed in India because of dowry issues.
