It reminds me of this little thingy. This is Russian UAZ, a powerful off roader. Basically, much tougher vehicle than silky Lada Niva.

I don't know about safety, but they definitely had to update it's engine for emission standards (since it's original engine was made to be able to run on french fries oil if necessary).

Ability to roll down the windows was considered additional equipment (EVERYTHING ELSE IS CAPITALIST IMPERIALIST CONSPIRACY!!!). I'm sure they updated that too, but apart from that, it should serve well anyone who wants to drive in unforgiving environment and not waste expensive paint job on his brand new Discovery.

My cousin has one of these up in the Yukon.



It started out as sort of a joke bike to have around, but it actually has become a pretty useful machine.

When building cabins he puts a fat kid on the front and skids out trees. Moose and other game just skids them out too. Its much more powerful than an ATV and can just grind along the horse trails as its narrow. Could also pretty much climb a tree and just float it across creeks and rivers.

Made in the USA too.
