I am still not up to speed on Indian culture 100% but if anybody can answer what group of Indians traditionally rock that hat and beard combo? I ask this because these dudes always up in the Gym with me and they always seem brolic and Alpaha as hell compared to there fellow dainty 'holding thier females purses' Toronto countrymen.

Wondering if its traditional for these groups of guys to be brolic as shit.

They wear turbans not hats (most Sikhs would be offended if you referred to their turbans as hats) which is an emblem of royalty in Indian culture. Originally the turbans were larger, covered in chainmail and chakras, a kind of razor sharp discuss which were hurled at enemy throats.

I remember reading the Bhagavad Gita and thinking that the Indian men described in it sounded nothing like the guys I deal with on a daily basis in the DC/Metro area, these are the guys that it described, strong, fearless, and proud. The end with them waving the flag was brilliant.

Ancient India was made of MANY MANY MANY kingdoms, which got exploited by British after the Mughals ruled a major part of India.
You gotta realize that there are 30+ states with each speaking a COMPLETELY different language & script.

There are tons of warrior class people part of "Indian heritage".

India is the SOURCE of all Martial Arts.. Kung Fu & Jiujitsu included.

India's downfall was because of lot of CORRUPTION. A lot of Zen philosophy IMPLEMENTED the wrong way.. and "let shit happen" passive attitudes.

We also have the 1 of the ONLY 2 ... High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in the world (the other is in Pakistan). The toughest training school where even the US & other countries send their people for training programs. I've met officers from there.

Yes. A lot of the guys who you see outside the country, especially in the US are typically the migration of "uber geeks / nerds" of Academic background (Not saying all of them are wusses). A lot of top engineering schools (IITs) have been TOP demand in NASA and some of old RESEARCH & Bell/ Lucent kind of companies.

Most of this crowd moved to the US for better "opportunities" & "education" in fields where Academic & Research funding & facilities have been the best in the US (traditionally) - Mostly Masters & PhD candidates.

Typically started with Engineering, then came few Econmoists (Amartya Sen) and then recent generation of IT professionals (majority of them from poor beta families in south of India.. Andhra state being a top exporter of that crowd). Lot of them come from very traditional villages and are very orthodox in their life and hence came to the US for a BETTER life.

Some adapt & grow, most remain the same despite pulling $$$.

Ofcourse, the top tier MBA has also become another destination. That crowd will have a Mix of academic worms & some Savvy mofos.

If you look up Forbes 10 Biggest Billionaires - Richest people on the planet. 2 of them have consistently been of Indian origin.

Global Pepsi CEO is an Indian lady. Tons of Indian CEOs of Global Corporations.

A lot of the "merchant" or "business" folk people in India think ALPHA in terms of money.. $$$
Political "mafia" in Money and "Thugs" to get ANY SHIT! done.

India is one of the most complex country & culture to understand.

We have books that EXPLAIN cultural diversity, history & origins to US.. Lol! Thats how.. and we still dont know or understand it all.. After a life time of being Indian.. I say there' a lot MORE.. that I dont know.

Alpha Indians do exist. I'm close friends with one. He's like 5'6 and has a massive nose but he is extremely popular. Everybody knows him. If you bag Indian to him though, he will literally try and fight you even though he's a skinny fuck.

Actually now that I think about it.. Almost all INDIAN (HINDU) GODs carry WEAPONS and are WARRIORS.. INCLUDING Female Gods. Some of those Female Gods are said to have defeated some of the worse demons that male gods had not been able to defeat.

I think a large part of what gets represented to the world is what they GET to see.. e.g. Apu, Slumdog & Indian Ners/Geeks (Big Bang theory) or Comedians (Harold & Kumar .. white castle)

Typical media crap. Narrow it down by profession and you'll see the diversity. Of course the engineers are going to be of a different personality type than the actors and the politicians and lawyers.

Lots of Indian bashing on the forum but if you compare Indian guys vs. Asian guys, Indian guys have definitely shot up the ladder in terms of business and political leadership, while Asian guys have stagnated in middle management.

I know right. My entire family is Scandinavian, pure blooded, I'm first generation to not be, and the whole viking culture thing is pretty strong in our family. My grandpa always claimed our family is closely tied to Erik the Red, dont know if its true, dont really care, it was the idea I liked, that viking barbarian berserker image.
