Jonathon Duhamel got robbed by a stupid bitch.
Bianca Rojas-Latraverse (pictured), an ex-girlfriend of 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel, was one of two individuals denied bail for their roles in robbing the poker pro just a few days before Christmas. Duhamel was allegedly assaulted during the incident and landed in a hospital for a brief period of time. According to the Vancouver Sun, Rojas-Latraverse and John Stephan Clark Lemay will now sit in jail until their trial begins.
According to the Sun, Rojas-Latraverse played a major role in the heist and “allegedly tipped off the other two to the contents of Duhamel's safe.” Meanwhile, a third accomplice, Anthony Bourque, was released on bail this week. Among the items stolen from the poker champ were a Rolex watch, his 2010 WSOP Main Event bracelet, an iPhone, and over $100,000 in cash.
André-Robert Perron, who was spotted wearing the Rolex, was released on bail as well and the accused individuals are due back in court on February 21st. While the watch has been recovered, still missing in action is Duhamel’s Main Event bracelet, which Caesars officials confirmed to PocketFives can be replaced if needed.
According to a separate Sun article published prior to Rojas-Latraverse’s bail hearing, Duhamel’s ex “did not make a solid case she has somewhere to live if she is released on bail. Her father testified he would set her up in an apartment on Montreal's South Shore and live with her while the case was pending. But while being cross-examined by prosecutor Nancy Delorme, the father proved he knows very little of his daughter's life over the past few years.”
Rojas-Latraverse lived with Duhamel during a five-month period last year before moving out in August. She reportedly plays poker for a living in Montreal and on the Kahnawake Indian Reservation just outside of the city.
Rojas-Latraverse allegedly sent text messages a few hours before the assault occurred indicating “something violent was about to happen in the coming hours.” The text messages could be a key piece of evidence in the case, as Rojas-Latraverse is purported to have messaged, "Everything is planned. We even have a driver if I choke," and named her accomplices to an unidentified woman.
A Montreal Gazette article revealed more details about the robbery, which took place at 9:15am local time: “Duhamel opened his condo door the morning of Dec. 21 to a man holding a package and was soon overpowered and tied up with duct tape by two men. They forced Duhamel to tell them the combination to his safe.”
Bourque has no prior criminal record and agreed to a 10:00pm to 5:00am curfew. Lemay was recently convicted of impaired driving, according to the Montreal Gazette, while the ex-girlfriend’s criminal history includes reckless driving.
Justice Pierre Belisle noted that robbery was "shocking, well-planned, and carried out in cold blood against a vulnerable man, using extreme violence to rob a large sum of money," according to CTV.
