I was there in September 2011.
Nightlife
(I have not been to all this places, but from the info I think it is obvious to which ones I have actually been, and about which ones I have only heard and put here only for the sake of completeness)
Lapa
- Street party (Friday)
- Rio Scenarium: 40+ age
- Club Six: Thursday closed, Friday free beer, but few hot girls
- Other clubs from the internet: Fundacao Progresso (dance club), Carioca da Gema, Teatro Odisseia, Cine Lapa -> they are all more or less in the main street close to the aqueduct, so I must have walked by, seemed like nothing particular
Upscale
- Baronetti (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday) in Ipanema – very good on Saturday, albeit a bit young
- Boox is next to Baronetti, very hot girls on Tuesday (Wednesday was a holiday)
- Zero Zero in Gavea - there is an open area (said the guy in the metro)
- Zozo in Urca - there is an open area (said the guy in the metro)
- Melt in Leblon – was disappointing when I went there
- Bar do Copa in Copacabana – no idea
- Nuth in Barra – quite far away
- Privileged – a tip from some girl
Others (less upscale, which means less beautiful (in Brazil this was really true for me, and usually I like student parties and find hot girls there)
- Baixo in Gavea: street party (in Gavea are also the clubs Zero Zero (upscale) and Namaste)
- Namaste in Gavea (Thursdays students)
- Ditto Feita (Tuesdays woman night, close to center)
- 18th street lounge (Thursdays samba nights, many girls, but low quality according to Forum)
- Nossa Senhora (forum only says that they have good caperinhas)
- Itahy (forum: highest concentration of incredibly hot women)
- Casa Negra (Tuesdays and Thursdays), Club Praia, Casa Rosa (Sundays, alternative)
- Plaza Maua (Mawa): samba petra do sal, von 7 bis 10, For Sunday an alternative, in Favela?
- Fosfobox: alternative people go there
- Emagrecer: I don’t remember who told me about this one, or what it is.
The forum said not to go (ugly girls, gringos)
- Casa Da Matrix (ugly girls, albeit it seems rather easy to score there)

My experience
Thursday: Lapa/Rio Scanrium. Few people, the only 2 nice ones were 2 tourists from Australia. Rio Scenarium is full of old (around age 40) people. There was a student party next to the dome, but only for people from their department, and at midnight nobody could enter anyway.
Friday: Lapa/Club Six. Street party: many people, only few hot girls. Girls recommended us the round thing next to aqueduct, there were a handful of nice girls outside, but we opted for club six (recommended by the forum). By the way, on Thursday I also was at club 6, it wasn’t even open. This time, around 11, long queue, but after waiting for 30 minutes the girl that does the lists let’s us in, bypassing the queue (which didn’t move in the 30 minutes, only people from the list got inside). Inside, free beer, free pasta. I kissed a quite hot girl, she said she was 18, I hope it’s true, she could have been younger. The kiss was a matter of 2 minutes. There was a group of 5 rather hot girls, otherwise very few nice girls. My friend made out with one of the better ones from the rest, but she wasn’t really hot either. I had the feeling there were several other girls available for me, 2 started talking to me, but they were not hot enough. Brazilian guys are super aggressive, I saw 3 guys just kissing their girl, even though she didn’t really like it.
Saturday: In the evening, Baronetti, finally many hot girls! Few foreigners! 120 entry, including 100 in drinks, you pay only half if you are in the list (just do it online), but we didn’t know. I am a bit pissed with myself because I settled for a girl that was ok, but not really super hot. In the end of the night we looked for a place to fuck in the club, but couldn’t find one, I couldn’t go to her place, and she couldn’t go to mine (hotel rule). Many girls were quite young, around 18, but hot. My girl doesn’t pick up the phone in the next days. In general I had the feeling many new couples met there, it was great!
Sunday: We move to Copacabana, and suddenly there are hot girl in the street. We go to Casa Rosa, which was quite full (already at 9pm when we arrived, it closed at 1am I think). There were some ok girls, not the same quality as in Baronetti, but some were ok. I start talking to 2 girls, I get nowhere, 4 girls, French and I get nowhere, 3 Germans, they were boring (and the hottest girls in the club, that’s bad if the hottest ones are foreigners), 4 brazilian girls, one looks ok (dark skin, big tits, ok face), but doesn’t speak English, they try to couple me up with her ugly English speaking friend, I make it clear that I am interested in the other one, they say I am cute. My friend calls me and I meet him. We speak with 2 girls, one is quite hot and speaks English, she is interested, but her friend doesn’t speak English, isn’t interested in my friend, and says she is married. I get the email from the girl I was talking to. 3 new girls, only 1 wants to dance, with both my friend and me, I try to escalate, nada. I go, my friend goes on trying with her for the rest of the evening. I see the dark girl from before again, she is about to leave, gives me a kiss on the neck, and is gone. Two other girls, a bit older, they seem super interested, but go to the bathroom and never come back, I see them again, try, but they are not interested, one is pissed because her ex-boyfriend is kissing with another girl.
Monday: We go to a bar at a student hostel in Ipanema (the logo was a crocodile), the only available choice, there are some hot girls, all foreigners of course, but the venue is not optimal for talking up, nearly all of them sit on tables with their friends/people from their dorm I guess. We talk up 2 girls that are standing, go with them to another bar. One is quite nice and interested in my friend, but she doesn’t speak English, and so she prefers an argentinian, which whom she goes home afterwards.
Tuesday: Melt, 25 entrance with list before midnight, loud, dark, many foreigners, quite disappointing quality of girls, we expected something like Baronetti on Saturday. We go to Baronetti, it’s 1 am, the queue looks disappointing, not so many hot girls like on Saturday, we don’t get in anymore, only couples and girls get it (that fits to the queue: too many men today!) Boox, right next to it, super hot girls! Many, more girls than boys! We don’t get in anymore, the club is small. Amazingly beautiful girls beg to get inside and get sent away. Dissapointed we go home.
There are also many open bars, with tables, maybe I should have tried those more, but I didn’t really see any good girls in not mixed sets, but we just went in 2 or 3 of them the whole week.
Conclusion
You have to choose one club per night, because you have to arrive early. If you choose the right one, there is top quality (better even then Colombia, they are super hot, not just good)! Lapa had only very few quality girls. In the expensive clubs (which have the super hot girls), put your name on the list, otherwise they are just too fucking expensive.
