Yes! I heard yesterday that he may be getting $20million (pounds) I jumped with joy. Although K.P. didn't seem like a bitch, it seems that some justice still exists for men. This is rarely accepted in divorces where the woman who is making much higher than the male still doesn't give up half her earnings. I guess it's such a high profile case that they have to go through with it.

This chick has been signed to four different record labels, depending on what she did under which one's umbrella, they all own her music. The riches in the music business is in publishing, in other words, controlling the product, not singing the product.

And if somehow she's worth $70 million, then that is a percentage of what she generates for her label, and I highly doubt she by herself is worth let's say a quarter of a billion to her label.

If one artist generates that much revenue for their label, the heads wouldn't be going apeshit over us downloading their albums.

Yes...artists only make real money from publishing, and from merchandising and touring. Labels and retailers make the bulk of the money from actual record sales - artists make pennies per unit, and even then only clear money AFTER the label recoups for everything they laid out (advances, studio time, promotion, etc.). Not too many artists out there write their own songs, let alone own them.

I would only agree with this in the sense that Russell Brand has greater future earning potential than Perry, thus can afford to walk away from the marriage with nothing. However, if as men we truly believe that divorce law and proceedings should be gender neutral, with each case adjudicated based purely on the dynamic of each couple/family, then I can't agree. If she makes more, and he requests it, he should get what a woman would get in the same circumstance. Lots of men subscribe to the principle that a man shouldn't be "supported" by a woman in these kinds of proceedings. Their pride prevents them from asking for any kind of spousal support, when they in fact NEED it. She's goes off happy with most of the assets and his kids, and he's left bitter and broke barely scraping by because of his pride. Fuck that. It reminds me of a scene from "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai" when Louie is driving an injured Vinny away from the mansion after Ghost Dog shoots most of the gangsters. They're pulled over by a cop, and this conversation insues after Vinny shoots her in the chest:
