I've noticed that the more attractive a girl on the dance floor is (and they're usually paired or tripled up), the less likely it is that I can come up to her and start dancing. From observation, I've noticed that other dudes who seemed to know what they were doing would come up to them and instead of either pulling them to dance or going for the grind, they would start talking to them and maybe hold them by the waist to whisper things into their ears. Now this by itself isn't astounding but there are two things that puzzle me: 1) how can anyone hear anything over that loud ass music? 2) more importantly, I've observed that these conversations are rather drawn out; it doesn't seem like a brief exchange of pleasantries. what the fuck are the men talking about for that long?

I've traditionally been very impatient with chicks who are on the dancefloor dancing with their girlfriends but aren't REALLY trying to dance. You can always spot their kind from a mile away. It seems like kowtowing to have to play their game but to move up the ladder you gotta do what you gotta do.

Second, what kind of music is being played?



It doesn't sound like you're dancing a venue where dancing has any practical use to getting laid. If guys are just talking to get the bang, then it's probably because the music doesn't encourage dancing.

Also, they aren't whispering into each other's ears... they are probably screaming at the top of their lungs into each other's ears. Loud music creates a feeling of privacy since no one outside of your immediate vicinity can hear you.

I don't know if you've been to Vegas but its a bar like Blue Martini. Just a mix from Rihanna to Tyga to techno (not really familiar with the genres but generally hip hop and some house but generally danceable). You'll have maybe two girls (slightly more attractive than other girls on the dance floor) dancing together. A few guys might come up to them and go immediately for the dance/grind and they'll give that look. It becomes clear that they're on the dance floor for the attention.

Sometimes eventually a guy will approach them. Instead of going straight for the dance, the guy will say something to the girl. Usually he has a wing in tow for the other girl. The conversation continues with no dancing for maybe two or three minutes and the guy moves his hands to her hip and his lips to her ears 'to be heard'. I once saw a guy continue a conversation this way for at least 5 minutes and then proceed into a makeout. Sometimes dancing will ensue and sometimes the player will separate the girls and move with his target elsewhere to continue.

I've seen this happen consistently enough in bars with dance floors and sometimes in a bigger Vegas club where the approach to these 'special snowflakes' doesn't begin with the dance but with extended conversation (clearly more than just introductions) that I'm sure there's a pattern.

I have seen this puzzling thing happen many times, and I feel left out because I have a slight hearing defect so shouting in loud clubs is very difficult for me, even from ear to ear. My guess would be that the guy in question is so good looking and has such good body language that the girl will be cool with him whether he dances or talks. But it's very simplified and not true. I would imagine that there is at least some negging and qualifying going on, and that it's actually rather harsh.

Dude, he could also just be going in with a direct line. "You're pretty cute. What's your name?" And he just takes it from there. Don't get too hung up on what other guys are doing.

Clearly, however, if a guy can pick up a girl with talking then you should ask yourself if the place is even suited for dancers. I know of places where dancing is pretty much the only way to get laid; now that's a dance joint.

However, even though some men can still talk their way into a girl's pants even though they are on the dance floor, it doesn't mean that dancing wouldn't work. If I saw two girls on the dance floor, I'd go up to one of them and just offer my hand. Then I'd start with a spin and lead her into a full blown dance.


BOTTOM LINE:

It sounds like dance game could work at the venue you've described, but if you want to go the dancing route keep looking for better places.

Don't use my lines or moves with a bitter attitude (not saying you have one, but I'm not sure).

When I hold up my hand to them, more often than not, I'm smiling. At the very least, I'm giving off a smirk. After all, I'm acting like I'm better than them. You're teasing them, and I take pleasure in teasing cute girls.

When I say, "Lame!", my expression is mostly neutral, and I feel slightly disappointed that these girls missed out on a fun time with me.

And I don't always do these things - a lot of the time, if I feel the girl is just weird or not worth it, I just walk away. That's all you have to do. Go dance somewhere else and ignore her.

I always carry a carefree, relaxed, and fun vibe when I'm out. It comes naturally to me as I dance. I smile, I laugh, I have a damn good time. That's why I do it. When I started to get good in dance venues, what I did was apply "The Vibe" section of Bang to the dance floor.

If you're bitter or angry towards women, I think you'll have poor dance floor game since your dance is mostly an expression of your feelings. So don't worry about impressing these girls or making them feel anything. Keep in your own zone and enjoy yourself. Relax and don't give a fuck, go for the kiss when she's into you.

Yeah you're right Samseau, that post was written in anger with my NYE dance floor rejections fresh in mind. I did have fun that night dancing with all sorts of ladies and do enjoy dancing even without a partner.

It's just that I have lingering bitterness on the inside coming from all sorts of frustrations with women over the years but I do fight against it.

I guess I'm on the "anger stage" if there's such a thing when you go through learning to be a player.
