ATTENTION E-readers...Kindle or Nook ?

If you have an opinion, would you be able to tell me why? Is there really a big difference? I am not the type of guy that reads all of the cheesy best sellers out there.

Let me know, I getting one for myself for Christmas...[Image: idea.gif]

I suppose it's just a matter of preference at this point. I have always used Amazon, so getting the Kindle was a no-brainer. It's great.

I would go with a tablet that has a kindle or nook app. That way you can choose which app you'd like to use as well as reading pdfs/ebooks.

I would up going with the Kobo, Borders' reader, because Sony is evil, and at the time Kindles didn't support .epub, which is what our library loaned out (besides which, .epub protection has been broken, and I don't like dealing with DRM, so that was a no-brainer).

I think Kindles can read .epub now, so it's not that big a deal.

I like the design of the nook touch vs the kindle touch, and you can get it for $75 vs the $100-140 that he the kindle touch costs.

ATTENTION E-readers...Kindle or Nook ?

I've been looking at kindles when i was in New York last week. I wanted to buy one.

I didnt because i couldnt get a straight answer from the salesman.

So can i put my own pdf's on there (like roosh books etc etc ) ?? Can i downloads ebooks in torrents on my laptop and put them on the kindle reader by using a cable??.

I'm not willing to pay for every book i might want to read. I couldnt get an answer on this on some kindle forum because they are a bunch of goodie two shoes condemning illegal downloads

Book - Around the World in 80 Girls - The Epic 3 Year Trip of a Backpacking Casanova

My new book Famles - Fables and Fairytales for Men is out now on Amazon.

Whatever you go with, take a look at Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com), an open-source ebook/ereader management suite. Among other things, it does a decent job converting between ebook formats

Quote:Quote:

Input Formats: CBZ, CBR, CBC, CHM, DJVU, EPUB, FB2, HTML, HTMLZ, LIT, LRF, MOBI, ODT, PDF, PRC, PDB, PML, RB, RTF, SNB, TCR, TXT, TXTZ

Output Formats: EPUB, FB2, OEB, LIT, LRF, MOBI, HTMLZ, PDB, PML, RB, PDF, RTF, SNB, TCR, TXT, TXTZ

Now, native kindle .azw isn't on there, but I think the new ones support epub, so that would work. Calibre also has loads of features I don't use (automatic download of web news and conversion into an ebook for you, online access to your library, emailing you books/news when on the road, etc). Good stuff for free software.

Skywalker you post some great questions. I ended up with a Kindle because a filthy rich friend of mine just had to have the color screen. I ended up with his old one since he wasn't about to use the one without the color screen. Who am I to turn it down? "If it's free, it's for me."
Hope to get some answers as i have the same concerns.
