5. Goiania - yeah, I'm keeping this place to myself...yum-yum!

Funny, I want to visit this city when I go back to Brazil. At the country's rapid Westernization pace, I think you pretty much have to do 2nd tier now.

It's gotten the same way in Colombia. Yo MUST do 2nd and 3rd tier cities to really have a fuck-fest in Colombia in 2012! Language barriers keep tourists (even sex tourists) out.

Blumenau (for the Brazilian girls with German decent; known for a massive "Oktoberfest"/ Santa Catarina)
Resende (RJ)
Juíz de Fora (Minas, I heard it has a good student life)
Barbacena (my favourite city in the South of Minas)

Obrigado pela lista!

Roosh also lists these second tiers cities for Brazil:

Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Vitoria.

They sound good but for a longer stay I think.

For about 2 weeks holidays, I am interested in knowing what would be the best spot to go (outside of carnivals or special holidays) where you have a lot of middle class Brazilian tourists.

I was in Arraial d'Ajuda / Porto Seguro many years ago and the parties were quite good (I met some nice Elite models from São Paulo :-) but I didn't like Porto Seguro so much (not very safe and hard to go around without a car and such. Arraial d'Ajuda was too small for me)

I wonder if I can find better than Porto Seguro for a blond gringo like me, quite fluent in Portuguese. I have been to places like Fortaleza and Recife and I liked the girls (they liked me too...) but I found them in general way too defiant of gringos because of the sex tourism industry.

I heard about vacation towns full of Brazilian tourists on the coast close to São Paulo and maybe close to São Luis or Belem, I don't remember.

Do you have any info on that?

De nada, cara!

We have a bro from São Paulo here (MR.GM), he might know it better...

Nevertheless, as far as I know when the people from São Paulo capital want to go to the beach and not travel that far they go to Guarujá, close to Santos. You'd probably see plenty of middle class Paulistas there. I like the city of Santos also, to me it feels like a condensed Rio, but the beach there is not that great, not that pretty. São Vicente, a neighbouring city, is also nice.

Up the northeast the few spots I could mention, as I rarely travel over there, are Itacaré (South of Bahia), a hidden gem of a town, beautiful, great vibe, parties and crazy hippie people traveling there. It is quite small, but vibrant on holidays. I spent a memorable new year's there.

Another spot I heard good things from is Porto de Galinhas, in Ipojuca, Pernambuco. I don't know much, but it seems to attract some middle class tourists.

Parabéns pelo português!

EDIT: I should also mention Búzios, in Rio, but I can't reccomend it, unless you roll that way $$. It is the place where all the upper class bitchy patricinhas go spend their money on the weekends. Although it is a pretty place with nice beaches, it completely lost the small beach town charm it had years ago, and now it is just an expensive beach town for the upper class Cariocas. The clubs here are even more expensive than the ones in Rio (like Pachá with 100 Reais cover charge). Again, that might be the option for some, and you can go there and spend less, but upper class patricinhas from Rio are a type I find somewhat hard to deal with, although they are hot. (I actually might try going for that niche when I return home, to test my game skills).

Other more acessible places that middle class Cariocas go on holidays is Angra dos Reis and the island of Ilha Grande, both are quite nice and get many Brazilian travelers, but I am not sure if there is a lot of partying going.

Other beach towns in Rio: Cabo Frio, Saquarema (surfers like it), Mangaratiba, Arraial do Cabo... places Cariocas go on weekends and holidays.

Roosh,

Did you get a chance to visit Akureyri in Iceland, know as the "capital of the north", population 18,000. I really considered going there. I just didn't feel like wasting a weekend and it sucking. However I could imagine might had been worth a try.

I went to quite a few 3rd and 4th tier cities in Brazil. Amour Fou mentioned Juiz De Fora and it having a good student life, definitely true. Lots of beautiful girls there and lots of good parties. I didn't spend more than a couple days there though. One good spot I went to which had live music was called Cultural. Lots of beautiful ladies and great music. I remember it being very reasonably priced, especially for how nice it was. I then stayed probably 2 or 3 weeks in a town about 45 minutes from Juiz De Fora (MG) called Leopoldina. Super small town with a population of about 50k residents. My friends dad owned the only night club in town (Evolution). BTW if you ever go there or pass through, you've gotta stop at Digao... Best hamburger I've ever had, and make sure you ask for the home made mayonnaise. I had a blast in Leopoldina, but it helped I was introduced lots of people when I went there. Like Mixx said above though, in those 3rd and 4th tier cities it's pretty damn hard if you don't know the local lingo. Communication was a big problem while I was there. Only a handful of kids spoke English. I never ended up pulling in either city because at this point in my journey I hardly knew any Portuguese.

Another 3rd tier city I spent almost a month in was a town called Braganca Paulista, about an hour, maybe an hour and a half outside of Sao Paulo. This place was great. Wiki says the populations right about 140k. I didn't really realize the full potential of this place until about a week before I left. Braganca was the first place I stayed in Brazil after my first night in Sao Paulo. I was just getting used to being in a 3rd world country where not many people spoke english. I only went to Braganca during my first trip to Brazil so I knew virtually no Portuguese, but I did end up managing to get it in there. We didn't really go out to clubs there until about a week before I left and I noticed how much potential the place had. Unfortunately the chick I had banged while I was out there tagged along to the club that night. The rest of the week after that night we had other things going on, never got to make it back out. I'd like to check the place out again now that I speak. The place has a nice lake right outside of town. It's a little caipira (hillbilly) but it's cool.

My favorite 3rd tier city was Guarapari. The place is most likely a ghost town during the winter, but the months of Dec.- March are insane down there! All the kids from Espirito Santo (Vitoria, Vila Velha), and even many from Minus, head out there and get crazy in their parents and friends parents houses. Guarapari has one of the biggest night clubs in Latin America called Mais. Lua Azul is another good one. If you're looking for Micaretas, this is THE spot! They're huge out there. Though micaretas aren't really my type of thing. The whole mentality is, "Let's go see how many people we can make out with." When my goal when I got out is, "Let's find one girl that wants to fuck." Also, Guarapari makes up for Vitoria's shitty beaches. There are tons of awesome beaches all along the coast of Vitoria. Oh, did I mention this place probably has the highest tallent I saw through all my travels to Brazil (During peak season especially). Don't pass up Guarapari in the summer, it's only a 5 hour drive from Rio!

Some other places that I didn't spend a lot of significant time in where:

Praia Da Rosa (SC)- Just surfed around a bit. GREAT surf spot, about an hour from Floripa.
Campinas (SP) - Only went there on two day trips, but daaaammnnn were there some good looking girls in the mall. I hear real good things about this place from a lot of my friends too. It's supposed to be a big college town. Its pretty close to Sao Paulo.
Joinville (SC)- Spent hardly any time at all there but I hear good things from the kid I went out there with.
Serra- Stay away! Supposedly one of the most dangerous places in Brazil, Filthy! Outside of Vitoria.
Cataguases MG- Good times, super small!

I hung out in a bunch of other little towns along the way for either a night or just a couple hours that I don't even know the names of. The coolest scenic spot I went to I don't even know the name of as a matter of fact, but I know it was about an hour drive North of Braganca Paulista. Such a great experience in that country.

I suggest getting used to places like Rio and Sao Paulo before going to 3rd tier cities and definitely picking up a little of the language.

(Edit) Some other good 3rd tier cities I hear of a lot in Brazil are:

Morro De Sao Paulo, Porto Galinhas (Both Bahia), and Diamontina, MG (Especially for carnaval)

My question is, can we find unspoiled (relatively) girls in third tier US cities? I'm thinking in the mid-West somewhere. Like what about Cedar Rapids, Eau Claire, Wichita Falls, etc. (I just randomly picked those from a map) Or Wilmington, NC?

See my report on Fargo, ND.

Sidenote from the whole subject, have you ever seen the movie Fargo? Awesome!

And you mentioned goiais, I've met some killer girls from Goiais! Definitely wanna check it out.

Edit: Nevermind, looked looks like I was talking about another spot.

Women are ridiculous. Industrial, crap city close to an amazing river spoiled by soviet concrete box apartments and drunkards in all the parks. There are quite a few clubs and drinking holes and its a city of over a million, but you will see very few foreigners there. This is a real Russian city. Russians often talk about the "real Russia" and that is it.

Yekaterinburg is another great Russian city by all accounts.

Vladivostok, Russia

Its a big city that does not see many westerners. There are a lot of the women are mixed Asian and the results are excellent. Tough to get to and one of the reasons why it sees so few tourists. Most of the trade is with Asians, so western businessmen are not as numerous either. There is a ton to do here and the nightlife is pretty good.

Always wanted to go there - fascinating spot, for many reasons.

It looks like I have a 3 week stint in Turkmenistan coming up late March. Have not been there since 98, but Im being told things have improved a lot. Ill get a report out when its done.

I will be very interested to here about your expoits in Turkmenistan. Apparently, a brutal dictatorship. Can't wait to get your accounts from the ground.

In upcoming years I'm going to spend 6 months in Brazil exploring smaller towns and cities, working hard on my Portuguese and really getting to know the place. Some great information in this thread.

Yeah Buzios is 'nice' but a tad boring. Pacha and Privelege are far too over-priced. I paid a stupid amount of money to get in Pacha not realising it was a drinkable entry fee (was already wasted from a boozey boat trip in the afternoon) and it wasn't even good was quite dead tbh. The following night I ended up in this club just full of Buzios locals, lots of pretty black girls. It had the potential to be great but my guts were fucked and I had a massive dose of the shits so had to run back to my accomodation and let it all out. Went back along afterwards but 20mins later felt the same again so called it a night and spent the rest of the night glued to the toilet. I don't remember the name of the club but was at the far end of the main strip of bars and restaurants and played funky music, me and the guy I was with were the only gringos in the club.

@Lucky

Dude, never been to Yekaterinburg, although have been to Kazan, Ufa and Nizhny Tagil. That whole pocket you will see very few foreigners and the cities are all large. Nizhny I think was half a million and that was one of the smaller cities in that area. You need to be able to speak some Russian or you will go out of your mind in those places though.

Im not looking forward to the Turkmenistan trip at all bro. I was last there about 11 years ago and it was dire. Imagine a soviet country that is predominantly Muslim. Being so close to Iran you would think the women would look Persian, which unfortunately is not really the case. The Turkmen have a lot of gypsy blood in them and it has not turned out that well. Normally gypsy blood produces some incredible looking women, but for some reason Turkmenistan was done few favours. Throw into the mix the conservatism of the place and I might as well be going to frikken Afghanistan. So Turkmen women I dont find that attractive, but the half Russian/Turkmen women are a different story. I saw naturally blonde women there which came as a surprise. But this time round my Russian is a little better and I have a bit more experience so maybe my views will be different after this trip and Ill reserve judgement.

Ill have to spend a few days in Balkanabat too, have no idea what the hell I am going to do between site visits. I cant get any info on the place.

@King of Scotland

I love Buzios and would actually like to buy property there, if the real estate laws ever do change. In season it is crawling with women not just from Brazil but all over South America. Your best bet is actually taking a chick with you and just chill for a week or two, although there is some opportunity there. Most women there are going to be with their families or with men, which does make things difficult. Unless you are trying to fuck the locals. And they see so many tourists you might as well jump in line.

I would not be going to Buzios for pussy, lets put it that way. But it is without a doubt one of my favourite places in the world.

Yeah Buzios can get busy. I went on a Brazilian holiday weekend (unbeknown to me), the Thursday night the place seemed dead and it lashed down of rain and I didn't like the place. There was no one around and the bars were all quiet then the nexy day horeds of people from all over Brazil and South America as well as gringos turned up. I spent my time mostly with two chicks from Brasilia and some from Chile & Argentina. Not knowing it was a holiday I hadn't booked accomodation for the saturday night and ended up having to go back to Rio but I wished I could have stayed as I was hitting it off so well with the two chicks from Brasilia and could have done some damage I reckon. As for the locals not being interested, not so sure on that, that club I went to was all locals bar me and the Dutch guy I was with and they seemed keen. My guts spoilt it for me though.

Came across your post Bars. Im trying to look for spots deep into Mexico that I have never been to that might be my home for a year. Im thinking of moving down there and Nayarit or Colima are a strong possibility. Any intel on these places? Or any other suggestions?

I want a place where I wont get bored of the nightlife and accessibility in the city. Thanks in advanced.
