014 Brazil World Cup Match Schedule and Locations
I was actually planning to evade the world cup and its consequent mess, but I have so many european friends saying they'll visit me on the world cup that I am compelled to stay.

Plus, there probably will be a lot of international pussy flying in, from places that aren't common for brazilians to host.... hoping for some Asian girls to show up!

I am probably the oddest brazilian ever, as I have no interest in soccer/football whatsoever. Some people have a really hard time figuring that out...

From what I've seen even middle class Brazilians spend money like there is no tomorrow. They are becoming like Americans, living off their credit card. I know people with just average jobs in the North who take a trip to Rio for holiday weekends even though they can't really afford it. You go to any Brazilian department store and almost everything has a total price and then underneath a 10 month instalment plan price. That is how people pay for shit here, and I imagine that is how they'll buy WC tickets.

Sure, it is not perfect and the favela people won't go but I don't think it will just be the mega rich Brazilians going either.

Also, can you guys imagine how much hotels/hostels are going to raise their prices for the WC? Right now in Salvador a DORM bed for Carnival in Feb. 2012 costs 180-220 Reals a NIGHT with a 4-6 night minimum. That is over $100 a night for a DORM bed. For the WC they will be able to charge at least that. The normal price is $15 a night.

I was in South Africa after the WC and from what I remember hostels only raised there prices like double, from $15 to around $30, because I don't think they realized how much they could charge. Brazil is going to be a freaking complete cluster fuck as Brazilians know how to rape tourists for special events. People are going to blow SHITLOADS of money.

Very true on both fronts. The credit boom that helped fuel the rise of Brazil's economy now imperils it. Brazilians are falling into heavy credit card debt and they pay some of the highest interest rates out of the world's major economies--200% in some cases!

There's an article that just came out a few days ago about this: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...0D9L35.DTL

As for the hostels, they will definitely be charging RAPE prices--no question. They do it all the time during Carnaval and hostels still sell out. I can only imagine what it will be like during World Cup. I even know Brazilians, including Couchsurfers, who will be charging gringos to stay in their homes during the WC. It's going to be ridiculous.

As my experience buying tickets for concerts, the tickets coorp. does not allow share the debt with the credit card, so you need to pay it all. Yes, there are a lot of people buying what they can't afford, but IMO this can happen anywhere.

Deixa que essa fase é passageira, amanhã será melhor você vai ver a cidade inteira seu samba saber de cor!

I might move to Brasil before, if not I'll definitely be there for the world cup to see Deutschland win it !!!!

Number7, that´s funny.

I believe Brazil will win the cup. Yeah, i ´m not brazilian and i only will be there because the girls and the parties.
Tickets will be very expensive, no doubt about it. The same with apartments and hostels. Forget about Copacabana and Ipanema for short term rentals.
IMHO International players don´t need to worry about the futbol games. The big world cup will be a ( good) excuse to have fun in Brazil.

I'll also be in Brasil during the WC but I agree that pricewise it's going to be crazy. As if it's not expensive enough now, imagine during the WC, apartment owners and hotels are going to milk the shit out of this. I predict prices for accommodations will be even higher than during Carnaval which already is very expensive. I guess even hostels will be impossible to find for less than 100$/night, hotels and apartments...better make contacts before and use them to good use....

Samuca, welcome to the forum cara. CWB is a pleasant city. I've been there a couple of times and enjoyed it.
This World Cup is going to be crazy! The world cup being hosted by the country of football! It's going to be Brasil's to lose! Hopefully there won't be another Maracanazo as it happened in 1950...dough I wouldn't mind France doing what we do best and that is beating Brasil in the World Cups in Rio in final....[Image: tongue.gif]

Can't wait for the WC in Brasil!!!!

Samuca, I have considered going to Curitiba and from all I have heard, it seems like a nice livable city with quality girls. But, Ive also heard they are quite cold and are not easy to bang. Similar to Vitoria. With so many Brazilian cities to choose from, I prefer one where the girls are easier. Dont enjoy just looking.
I'm a latino looking guy (people generally think im brazilian, until I speak) with decent portuguese, so Im curious how I would be received by the girls in your city. So far, the cities where Ive done the most banging and gotten the most attention from the ladies, have been Brasilia and in the Northeast.
The south of Brazil, with Curitiba included, just doesnt seem like a pussy paradise for me or for most guys, for that matter. The next trip to Brazil, I think i will concentrate on Goiania and Natal.

Good stuff. Irony of the situation is that draws and country locations per city are not released till Dec though.

There was some discussion of the Brazilian World Cup cities in this thread:
http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-613-po...#pid486109

I'm leaning towards Cuiaba. Looks like a ticket to see all 4 matches there is in the $360-700 range, but I have no idea the chances of actually winning the ticket lottery. I assume pretty much all ticketing will end up oversubscribed.

Tickets went on sale earlier today. 1 million tickets applied for in the first day:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/20...ot-demand/

Looks like Sao Paulo and and Rio are oversubscribed (no surprise there), as are team-specific for some big teams including the US.

All the second-tier city venue-specific tickets still are in low demand.

I'm trying to get my crew together, then we'll bid on venue-specific before this sales phase (which is lottery-style) finishes on October 10.

Once they do the draw in December for teams, the prices of any remaining tickets where a big-name team is involved will skyrocket.

Just as a note....FIFA is very very tight with ticket security. You can't scalp off tickets and sell them for profit.

I won the lottery for tickets in 2010 and had QF AND SF tickets, but due to the extortionist prices being charged by airlines and lodging, I had to give the rights to the tickets back to FIFA.

I never actually had the tickets in my hand. In fact, you do not recieve a physical ticket until you arrive on matchday at the stadium. It makes scalping and profiting nearly impossible.

I would've loved to gone and gotten tickets for teams like New Zealand. I bet some other posters here probably agree with me that there are benefits to looking at some of the countries that get less attention.

Edit: Make that Australia. New Zealand hasn't quite qualified, and may not.

My sister is a lawyer at one of the main sponsors of the WC and she gets up to 10 tickets, including 2 for the final. Naturally, I already reserved all 10 of them! I can't freaking wait!

For anyone going there, make sure you get your accommodation reserved asap as prices will be going through the stratosphere! If you think it's expensive during Carnaval or New Years, then multiply that at least 2 if not 3! I'm already hearing from Brasilian friends that even a bed in a hostel in Rio will be going for 200 EUROS PER NIGHT with a minimum 5 nights reservation! That's just crazy! 10K would be a bare minimum budget IMO to enjoy the WC in Brasil next year!

Who in here is going? Maybe we should have an RVF meet up there! Who's in?

From my understanding this time around, you can resell your tickets only via FIFA's portal (I'm guessing something similar to StubHub).

Can you explain how "giving back" the tickets worked for you? One idea I had is let's say there are 4 of us going to WC. One apprach is to buy a 4-set of tickets, so if we win in the lottery, we all get seats next to each other. But I assume since it's one purchase (with 4 tickets), then that's only one lottery entry.

Another approach would be to have all 4 people each apply for a 4-set, and then we have 4 chances to "win". But what happens if more than one of us wins? Then we're stuck with 8 tickets when we only need 4. Can we just "turn them in" and they reverse the credit card charge?

This is the hidden secret about WC tickets. Some huge percentage of WC tickets are reserved for "hospitality" seats and go to sponsors, various hangers-on. Then there's 100,000 seats reserves for Brazilian government officials and stadium construction workers (I'm not kidding), but that's a different issue.

I actually went to the WC in Germany in 2006, via a sponsor ticket. Friend worked for one of the main sponsors, and they had an extra few tickets for a match. I still had to pay list price for them (150 Euros I think it was), but it was worth it and the seats were good.

So if you know people connected to the sponsors, that's definitely a way to go.

Hi Guys! I registered a while ago, but was waiting for my account to activate. I'm going to the world cup next year and plan on renting an apartment in Ipanema. However, so far, the rentals on airbnb.com are ridiculously priced for the world cup.

But still, I'm hoping I can find something. Anyone else going? Maybe we can schedule a meet up and party. I've been pipelining a couple braislians so far and learning the language.

I was going to go to Brasil for the World Cup, but then I realized they mark up the prices like there's no tomorrow! Going to have to sit this one out [Image: sad.gif]. I'll probably be in Europe during the WC so it won't be as bad.

I'll be going to Cuiaba and will book things once the match tickets are confirmed. First lottery draw is mid-October.

Do you have match tickets for Rio? Right now, all tickets for Rio and Sao Paolo are massively over-subscribed.

Rio will probably be the most difficult of all cities to find a place to stay. Even without a major event there are a lack of hotels. I heard for WC, they'll be docking cruise ships nearby to serve as places to stay.

Wow, the brasilian business owners are seriously trying to milk their revenues. FIFA even put them on blast due to it. Capitalism is great and all, but if they lower their prices, they would make more than what they think they will make by charging 400-800% more.

I'm trying to lock down an apartment for the month with my cousin. I will also put my bid into getting tickets and if that doesn't work, I'll buy some on the spot from a local. I am trying to make some friends down their through pipelining, so we'll see how it goes. Even if I do not get my desired tickets, I will be in Rio. I love football, and I love brasil so I'm sure I will have a good time, as anyone else who travels to Brasil.

But yes, the price increases for literally everything are ridiculously. Look for FIFA to put brasil on blast in the coming months, just my opinion.

FIFA will not put anyone on blast. FIFA is a clusterfuck of rich people who like rich things. Don't expect to find any sort of deal when planning any aspect of this trip. The 'pressure' FIFA puts is more for PR than for actual effect.

I love football and I love Brazil but I will not be going under any circumstance. The flight cost alone is 3x what you would expect to pay normally. The cost of the ticket, should you win the lottery, will be the least of your concerns.

If you plan on going to Rio for a couple of weeks, budget 10k USD for the trip. Seriously.

I won the ticket lottery to two QF and a SF for SA2010 and eventually had to return them because the cost was looking like 9k minimum for 2 weeks there.

I don't want to burst your bubble of excitement, but understand what you are getting yourself into. I was in the same boat four years ago and learned my lesson.

Also, as I have noted earlier, FIFA is very very tight about their tickets. You cannot even get your tickets until an hour or two before KO. From what I remember reading, when you go to pick up the ticket, you must scan your passport. That passport number then must match when you enter the stadium, making it virtually impossible to buy tickets for the match off of someone else.
