Ah yes...I forgot about the second kid he had with Dayanara (who was also a Miss Universe, not Miss World). People also don't know that he was married once before that, and has a daughter with a NYC cop named Debbie Rosado - that one was before he really blew up, when he was just a backup singer on club hits, etc. My brother works in Family Court here in Queens, NY, and every time he drops another album or makes a movie, she comes in to get an increase in child support...HA HA!

No but thats different, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were part of the biggest band at one time and are way richer and bigger than jaric, even the Cars guy hit pretty high up on the chart. and his wife is nowhere in the same league as lima imo.

I am by no means alone on this one. the only thing I figure is she has a low self esteem and wanted to make sure she married a guy who'd never cheat on her and would kiss her butt (kinda like mariah carey and mr. nick carey - but even nick is not so ugly). Marc Anthony's appeal comes from his singing and dancing ability (plus a little cool swagger). He is not a stereotypically attractive guy-he's short, skinny, and otherwise physically unremarkable. Well, you can find out what NBA teams have paid him here. He has been much better paid than Jose Juan Barea.

As I'll show you later in this post, girls of this stature do not always go for the biggest or most physically appealing fish in the sea. In fact, guys in Jaric's position (somewhat wealthy, successful, and famous on a local level but not A-listers or even B/C-listers really) seem to be a commonly selected type by these girls. They don't seem to go for the highest profile guys (the Marc Anthonys, Brad Pitts and Kobe Bryants of the world) quite as often as we'd expect.

1. Mariah Carey is a horrible comparison. She was well past her expiration date, meaning that it was likely too late for her to secure something solid from the top dogs she probably really wanted. This is why she settled for the somewhat pathetic, but young and still decent looking Nick Cannon. 2. Adriana Lima's self esteem is fine. The guy passes the money and height tests, and has some fame too (in Europe, anyway). We also know nothing about his level of game or general skill with women. You seem to have kind of already assumed that he's a beta, but I don't see where that comes from. For all we know, he has enough skill to easily push her buttons. Would it be that surprising (given his fame in his part of the world, which isn't short on model quality women) if he'd been regularly banging model-type women for much of his adult life? A guy like that would have a much better shot at successfully stepping to a top model like Lima.

If he has any game to go along with the other factors (height, wealth, etc) I listed, then I don't see why we're so surprised at him snagging Adriana Lima.

If you take a look at who some of the other Victoria Secret models have been with (and gotten knocked up by), you'll note that they don't always go for the most stereotypically high-status/super-good looking fish in the sea. Alessandra Ambrosio, Isabeli Fontana, Karolina Kurkova, Doutzen Kroes, Izabel Goulart, Marissa Miller, and a ton of others come to mind right off the bat as girls who did not pick particularly high status men to tie themselves to or have children by, and instead got with dudes who, like Jaric, were wealthy and successful in their own right (with some level of fame on a more localized level) but below the levels of fame, affluence, and looks that you'd "expect" for a mate to an elite VS model.

In fact, the only recent VS model I can really think of who knotted herself to a guy you'd sort of "expect" her to status-wise is Miranda Kerr (Orlando Bloom). Giselle Bundchen also fits that bill with her all-pro QB husband. Candace Swanepoel is dating a nobody, as is Kerr's fellow Australian (and former Miss Universe), Jennifer Hawkins.

The phenomenon you're seeing here just isn't that rare or remarkable, dude.

Barea just signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves today, 4 years and $15 million. Last year I think he made about $1.8 mil. As I mentioned previously, Marc Anthony pulls because of his talent and swagger, but even his fellow Puerto Ricans don't think he's particularly attractive. He's a scrawny dude, but when he opens his mouth chicks get wet. Barea is one of the few Puerto Ricans to ever play in the NBA, so he's very unique (I think Carlos Arroyo is the only other playing currently in the league, but their national team is always good because most of the players played college ball in the US). They threw a parade for him when he returned to the island after winning the NBA finals, so he's a major celeb (he does commercials/endorsements in PR also). If he were from Venezuela, he'd be a kidnapping vic by now.

Steven Tyler is another UGLY dude, but he landed Bebe Buell (Liv Tyler's mom), who was a model, singer and a Playboy Playmate of the Month.
