The following story is a good example of why I joined this site, why I contribute to it and why its such a cool community!
A little background about me: my parents are snowbirds (Canadians and people from the northern states who flock to the warmer climes of the southern USA, places like Florida, Arizona, etc.) and every winter for the past 3 years I come down to visit them at their winter home in a retirement community north of Tampa for Xmas. I hang out, relax, shop, go to NHL games but rarely go out to the local bars because I have no one to go with and am a bit paranoid in these parts (more on this later).
The same thing always happens each year, I get bored of sitting around all these old piss tanks and fuck off somewhere else (Bahamas, Jamaica, Miami,etc). I once stayed at a youth hostel in Tampa (Graham's place, a bit of a dump!) and partied in Tampa (Ybor City and Channel Side), it was fun but, nothing too special.
So, 2 nights ago on xmas day, I"m sitting around my parent's place eating tonnes of turkey and drinking lots of cheap wine, and busting out Canadian data sheets left right and centre! In my drunken rants I mention my location north of Tampa which, lo and behold, is just a quick jaunt up the road from El Mechanico!
This guy is HARDCORE, he wanted me to go out boozing at a local strip club, on Christmas day!! I says "WTF, the strippers are open?" fuck ya! But alas, I had way too much turkey and E and J Gallo in me, I had to turn him down, but we made plans to meet up the following day, Dec 26.
Now a little more background information, myself and my parents, are your typical Canadians, we haven't traveled a lot in the USA and base most of our opinions of them on what we see on TV and in movies (don't we all?). Because of this, many Canadians, myself included have odd opinions of many Americans because we watch TOO MUCH: COPS, American's Most Wanted, Jerry Springer and all of these new reality shows that portray the worst aspects of American culture and society. My parents basically DO NOT socialize with anyone outside of their community, even inside they hang out with fellow Canucks, they're afraid of being around people who own guns, really!
Most Canadians are very scared of two types of Americans: the inner city black gang banger and the gun toting, whiskey drinking red neck!
And where is my parent's winter home located? PASCO County, AKA red neck central! I've never seen so many swamp donkeys and scallywags in one place ever (and thats saying a lot coming from Nova Scotia, home of the infamous Goler clan!).
So El Mechanico picks me up and we go for a drive, he's showing me all the local hot spots, strip clubs (I've never seen sooo many titty bars in my life), watering holes and restaurants. This guy is cool as a cucumber and very easy to get along with, like me, we're both outgoing, talkative guys, I could tell we where going to get a long.
He takes me to this nice seafood restaurant on the water, right by his place, amazing grub, I love seafood since I grew up on the Atlantic ocean, but I now live in a land locked province and can't get good fresh seafood! We have a couple drinks and he shows me around his hood, everyone knows this guys, he is after all a local mechanic! He has some serious hook ups, I told him I was jonsin' for a joint (ganja withdrawl from Jamaica trip lol), and he got one for me (decent bud too) no problem!
We went to his place for a couple drinks then hit up a couple of other bars, all within stumbling distance from his place. Remember that TIKI bar he posted pics of, the one where he shagged that mom and daughter duo? Its practically in his back yard, and its not some shitty neighbourhood joint, its a huge bar, really nice interior, this place must get bumpin' on the weekends!!!
So after drinking with some local yokles, we decide to hit up the Hard Rock Cafe in Tampa. I've never been to one, and this place didn't disappoint, it was pretty good, for a Monday night! There was a constant stream of people of all ages, races, etc coming through the door all night.
El Mechanico did a bit of gambling, I do not partake in gambling beside the odd lottery ticket or bingo game, I have enough expensive vices as it is! While he was at the car tables, I just walked around scouting out the talent, pretty good I must say!
Now, about Florida; I don't know what it is, but the all the people here seem REALLY friendly, especially around Tampa, maybe the good weather, maybe its because most people aren't from here and many of them are on vacation, but the women are very EASY to approach. This is a great place to practice, what is it with casinos? El Mechanico should bust out a Casino Game thread, because this guy knows all the moves!
I basically sat back and watched the master do his thing and guys, I tell you, this guy is a natural! Smooth talker and not shy to approach, his game is pretty tight, I should have taken a note pad because this guy was like a fountain of game knowledge!
As I alluded to in another thread, I've only discovered the whole "game" thing in recent months, I would rate my game as decent, I can pull, but I have some areas to work on, thankfully my Roosh books should arrive in the mail tomorrow!
EM approached a few different women, some in groups, some alone, the vibe was pretty good, he's a smooth talker and can keep the convo flowing. At one point, we posted up at the bar, and a steady stream of women just kept coming and coming, this one cute blond, came right up and sat on my lap, another time I just remember looking to my right and seeing 3 hot blondes and to my other side, 3 hot brunettes and a red head, EM knows how to work the room!
As it got later, after 23:00, the crowd started to die down, it was Monday morning after all. I was actually pretty drunked up by that point (the gin and tonics were going down easy) and we decided to bounce and take a cab back up north.
All in all, it was a fun night out, we chatted up plenty of women, didn't get any digits (well I didn't anyway, maybe EM did?) but we weren't in full game mode either.
My parents were paranoid, "you're going out partying with some Greek guy you don't even know?" seriously, they're so paranoid and afraid of gun toting Americans, lol, they didn't call me at all while I was touring around Jamaica getting hammered in a 3rd world country, but for some reason they thought I was crazy to be out partying in Tampa!
Anyway, can't wait for the weekend, its gonna kick ass! EM may also take me out fishing in his boat and hopefully shoot some gators!!!
This forum is dope, with a heavy hitter like El Mechanico as a wing man and drinking buddy, looks like I'm gonna be spending a bit more "time with the folks" in the future!
PS: Real estate prices here are INSANELY low, the price of my 2 bedroom 950 Sq ft condo in Deadmonton would get me a palace down here!!!
