Semester Abroad in Bangkok

Semester Abroad in Bangkok

So I'm considering a semester abroad at Mahidol university.
It will cost about $9000 dollars for the semester including tuition, an apartment near campus, one meal a day, mobile phone service, etc. Factoring in that I won't be paying my normal(fuckhuge) tuition and rent I might actually save money.[Image: tard.gif]
A few questions:
1. How much can I expect to pay per month on food/personal expenses if I go out on the regular?
2. Would pulling Thai college girls be difficult? I've been told the more well off ones are much more conservative.
3. Anybody know of any good bars/clubs nearby? (can't post links but it seems to be in a pretty good area, google Mahidol University)

Also, I'd like to extend my trip into the summer and explore one or two other nearby countries, any suggestions or hidden gems I should know about? I was thinking about the Philippines since a flight to Manila from Bangkok would be pretty cheap. Also considered India as I love the culture, but getting laid there would be hardmode and their "clubs" are expensive as hell.

1. Depends on you... and high-end clubs will be quite pricey, but you can do everything so cheaply if you want (street food is like a dollar a meal, for rice, meat + some veg). Taxis are very cheap, drinks are cheapish in bars, pricier in clubs.

2. Students will vary. Traditional Thai girls are expected to remain virgins until they marry. But you have plenty who dont give a fuck and just like partying. As a westerner, on balance, easier compared to US. And then you have the non-uni students, the girls with average jobs (cosmetics, hair dressers, secretaries, whatever) who are insanely easy. Can be picked up with daygame in the malls. And you also have older, classier thai women who love them some cool young westerners... I banged a girl in her 30's who was working on some daytime TV cooking show with the Prime Minister (?!). Basically it's fish in a barrell, before even talking about the bar-girls, strippers and hookers (who can be be "shored" i.e. laid for free, not that that's my thing)

3. Sooo many dude. All the students hang out on the club strip on RCA (Royal City Avenue). Good venues and good crowds. You've also then got the higher end city venues, Bed Supperclub and the Thong Lor places, where you'll find rich thais/ expats / jet setters and a bottle-service kind of crowd - THEN you also have all the tourist spots lol. So much going on.

I'm going myself to BKK for 3 months in Jan and am expecting a trip of epic proportions.

Countries to goto nearby...
India
Korea (bit expensive flight but Seoul is awesome)
Malaysia
Laos & Cambodia

Most importantly THE THAI ISLANDS in the south:

Koh Phi Phi (awesome small place full of hot swedish girls)
Koh Phan Ngan (Monthly full moon party with 10000 people going crazy on the beach..)

and others.

so as above poster says - DO IT [Image: biggrin.gif]

Great post RichieP. I was half expecting someone to come along and say it's difficult to pull any Thai women who isn't a whore (people always say that on here and elsewhere) so it's good to see someone who like myself knows that it's very possible. Students should be easy as you'll not be seen as some typical Western sex tourist if you are there at the uni, studying and living there. I agree with you on the average job girls too, definitely worth going for. I did well with these types. Get a social group and you'll do well.
