When it starts to be LTR
12-01-2011, 06:16 AM
Reading some stories in this forum it seems that there are only two types of bangs: ONS and LTR
Just read a story where someone called three months a LTR.
My question is this then. What is a STR? Or a fling? Or simply a relationship?
There should be some concensus on what a LTR is. I believe three months should be called STR or short fling and LTR should start from one year or nine months at least as it is the time when most women stat looking back at the relationship history, preparing to celebrate its anniversity, start giving questions about how you see "us" in the future, imply meeting parents and such stuff.
What are your thoughts about this? What amount of time or another investment is the border point between a fling(STR) and a LTR?

Why worry about classifying it?
IMO, you're either fucking her or dating her and it should be pretty clear which one it is.

golf clap on this one
November is spot on. If you can't tell/interpret that you're just fucking her, then you're probably dating her

There are no such a thing as labels.
LTR relationship is about to have sex with one person only. Wrong. There are open - relationships, for example.

The danger of the LTR is when you only want to be around that chick.
LTR is less about the length of time and more about your commitment to possibly settling down.

It starts to be an LTR when you both decide it I think.

It sucks, the conditioning makes you want an ltr when you really like a girl. But as time passes you want to be single again...... vicious cycle

The following is a quote from/about Jesse James:
On Monday, the motorcycle mogul made his return to reality TV on "American Chopper: The Build-Off" -- and he made sure to reference Bullock, his third wife, who divorced him in 2010 after five years.
"In an apparent apology to fans for losing touch with himself, James, 42, quipped, "I became a big shot and married some Hollywood actress and didn’t talk to anybody anymore, so I feel bad. . . I feel obligated to reconnect with all these people and show 'em that I'm still the same fabricator motorcycle guy. I'm not what I became."
Basically, dude got caught up in an LTR, and with a chick that was all wrong for him, in a world that was wrong for him. The whole "opposites attract" thing is cute for a while, but it gets strained. He lost himself, and when he felt stifled, he went back to the fucking the tatted-up, pierced chicks he was used to banging, in the world he was used to banging them in. Seeing him with Bullock at the Academy Awards was SAD. Standing in the background, in a tux of all things. He was completely NEUTERED. Even the hardest, most alpha-type dudes can have this happen. Since then, he got with Kat Von D, got engaged to her, broke up with her, got back with her, got engaged again, now broke up again. He just needs to bang out biker sluts from here on in, because it's pretty obvious he's not a relationship guy. Be who you are.
"The best kind of pride is that which compels a man to do his best when no one is watching."
