That really sucks to hear that. I had high hopes for Latvia. I wonder if it was the time of year you went because I hear conflicting opinions about the place. I'm not really inclined to see it though.

I think Latvia was good 10-15 years ago. Horny English/Italian dudes pretty much fucked up the place ,it has been discussed in several threads here.

Dude, 5 years ago it was still good. The decline has happened very quickly based on these reports.

I think once the hordes start to invade, its the beginning of the end. Prague was fucked within 3 years, it was that rapid.

If it wasn't for European winters, it would be Eastern Europe, but if accounting for the winter then it's hard to decide right now.

Yes. I met an Italian in Latvia who said that five years ago when he came it was paradise, that it was impossible not to get laid. He told me this would be his last trip to Riga because it now sucks.

Poor Poland . Don't know if it will survive after the Hooligan invasion during Euro 2012.

I'd like to add the my most recent trip to K-iev was not as fruitful as the previous. I met a couple of contacts there, but nothing much happened. Only went out one night and that was to Vodka Bar on NYE, but was feeling rough so went home early. Prefer L-Viv TBH, put in some good groundwork in this city to the point that I am not hunting so much these days. Having said that I have many 7's on my books, when I need to be thinking 8+

Does that mean EE women > Latin American women?

comparing the two are like comparing a sports car to a SUV. they both can be great, it just kind of depends on what you like.

Giving this a bump, as have the option of 6 month's work in Latvia.

I visited around 2.5 years ago, and was pretty blown away by the quality on show. However this was tapered by the aggressive atmosphere in the centre, caused by the locals getting (understandingly) fed up with the British Stags and sex tourists. I heard tales about scams aiming at robbing drunk tourists, and just a general leery atmosphere between the nationalities, and a lot of thirsty tourists out at night.

Riga seemed a nice enough city away from the centre though, plenty of greenery, nice parks. The traditional culture there was pretty cool too. When we were there it was some High-Summer festival going on, which had it's roots in the old pagan culture. All the girls were walking around with flowers, in preparation for the Solstice. I got the impression that away from the centre, and with a bit of local knowledge, you could really do well there.

I'd be interested to hear any thoughts from any people who have lived there, or had recent visits. How is the SMV of a foreigner there now? I'd imagine it'd be somewhat negative, due to being over farmed by Stag parties and the like...

To add, my other option is Bulgaria. Interested to hear any thoughts comparing the two places...
