Moma,

Whey comes from cow milk. Usually its the same cows used to make McDonalds burgers. I don't want anything that comes from the stomach of those nasty cows.

plant protein are the least anabolic than from animal sources (yes protein is anabolic on its own)

beef is the best, then maybe turkey vs egg whites (or whole eggs).your better off eating beef at night due to how long it takes to digest.try to get as much protein in as you can,its good for you,i believe in limiting carbohydrates when your not training, insulin resistance is so big in western countries.limit the shakes though

What a waste.

That natural stuff is extremely over priced you are better off eating organic, grain fed beef and wild chicken and fish versus that fancy magic powder.

Plus. Regardless of how 'clean' he powder is you could easily abuse it like many others whom take regular protein.

Such as:

- Taking to many scoops post workout and forcing your body to piss out most of it.

- Rookie mistakes like mixing your protein with milk.

- Not even training hard enough to get the gains that would justify the price of whey in the first place.

That stuff is for women and frail yuppies who don't know any better. You would be better off buying Hemp Protein which is crazy expensive (in comparison to regular whey) but a bargain in comparison to this (about half the price... my jar cost me 24$ vs 44$ for yours). There is mixed studies on Hemp - USA FDA hates the shit, but IMO I think it is the best plant protein around. Its anabolic as shit and is still a 'food' full of micro-nutrients. You could literally live of the stuff if needed.

Whey is nothing but dead powder and though it is extremely useful for bodybuilding, it is not worth paying out the ass for. If you have ethical problems about eating processed whey from cows in cages then switch to hemp.

Add beef jerky to the list -- you can take a bag anywhere you go and it has a lot of protein. Get the nitrate free stuff. It's always worth spending more money on quality (i.e. natural) food.

Anybody looking to save up on animal proteins check out this way to get a lot for less. If your living with a group of people in a house, got a deep freeze consider taking a weekend out in feb/march and doing a meat order. Might even be some co-op/club situations where individuals can sign up and split it. You can get quality, well raised, hormone free meat for cheap. When me and my homies did this it came to about 1$ a pound. We ordered half a cow and it was split between two spots - We got around 300lbs of meat, packaged and trimmed up.

Okay, here is my definite tip regarding protein for all you guys:

low fat curd cheese

It has everything you need for building muscle AND regeneration. Plus it´s super low price. Just look at wikipedia. Low fat curd cheese has Casein Protein and glutamine. There is no single one other type of food, that has such high portion of glutamine, which is essential what drives regeneration after working out or even high blood loss due to an operation.

Just buy it, mix it up with some fruits and honey, and enjoy. Here in Germany, low fat curd cheese is like 60 cents per 500g. There is no easier, cheaper and more natural way to get protein into your body.

Would this be equivalent to cottage cheese in the States?

For females I suggest the protein be directly injected 2x daily for maximum results.

For moma try:

If this doesn't help give pea protein a go. A coworker didn't do well with the regular Syntha-6, but is digesting the pea protein ok. There's a lot of extra shit in the powder form, including fat. Muscle Milk is the best tasting but is highest in fat content.

The protein shots may assimilate into your body quicker and not bloat the belly.

Next year girls will be serving me these from their cleavage as a morale boost. Morale is important before hitting the gym.

@Chad: No, it´s not the same. Cottage Cheese is made by already processed milk.
When cow milk is converted into the processed milk you can buy at the supermarket, curd cheese is what is left. It actually contains most of the nutrients of the original cow milk.

Hmm, I'll look into an Stateside equivalent, will probably have to go to whole foods to find it though

Since animal proteins have pretty much been covered I'll talk about plant proteins. Everything has protein in some aspect, grains, vegetables, fruit, legumes beans. (Most have negligible protein though)

Grains: quinoa (12g/ 0.5cup uncooked), Edamame (13g/ 0.5cup shelled) both of which are a complete source of protein, all kinds of whole grains ie. whole wheat pasta (7.5g/cup cooked)

Beans: kidney beans (14g/cup), brown beans (18g/can) lupin beans (25g/cup), http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articl...rotein.php

Leumes: see link above. lentils (17g/cup)

Nuts: almonds (6g/handful), peanuts (7g/oz), walnuts (6g/oz) nuts are good easy snacks and have lots of beneficial fats in them.

pros for vegetable sources: youre going to be eating carbs as part of a meal so why not chose the ones high in protein to go with a chicken breast, way cheaper than meat.
cons: only quionoa and edamame are complete sources of proteins (have all of the essential amino acids) -- this shouldn't really affect you as you're eating other sources of protein.

Dymatize is a good cheap brand, I have tried a lot of their products and all of them are good but not great, I would spend a few more bucks and try to get Gaspari Myofusion.
