Just saw this while watching the Eagles game (which they lost). Tough times for Philly sports-team's been struggling and now they've lost one of their greatest legends.
RIP

I knew the outcome would be soon once I heard "liver cancer". It is what did in my father. The cancer probably started elsewhere but once it hits that liver, there just isn't enough medical research (or breakthroughs) for treatment. Back to Smokin' Joe, he was a legend and was all class.

A Great and humble guy.
Relentless in the ring,just kept on coming.
Only lost to 2 guys,Ali and Foreman,and he beat Ali once .
Hope he died without suffering to much!

The reports were that his situation was grave, but I had no idea that he was essentially on his death bed. I was shocked at the news last night that he was gone so quickly after the initial report of his illness. He was Tyson before Tyson, and people don't realize how small of a heavyweight Joe was, yet was so powerful.
