do you ever feel like settling down??

interesting post

i'm seeing more of my friends in their thirties settling down, which i don't have a problem with generally as they're mostly the guys who are not all that lively/fun when i meet them on nights out anyway
but what i notice is that most if not all of these guys are not just settling down but 'settling', ie. marrying or moving in with women who are not exactly catches, and a couple of points below them on the looks scale to boot
but hey, that's western society, where mosts guys marry/LTR down (or equal at best), and it's not gonna change anytime soon

/shrug. I "settled down" when I was 21, wife leaving me now at 40, and while my dating experience since may be atypical, I'm having more and better sex, for one. And having seen how much financial damage being married for 19 years can be, I'm in no hurry to enter that particular trap again any time soon.

Eh, settling down is a joke nowadays.

Like amity said, the guys who settle down almost always wind up with a plain jane wife. Even if you manage to get a hot girl to agree to marry you, chances are she will wind up turning into a fatty after a few years of marriage.

Add to that divorce laws, child support laws, women who want to keep their maiden names, the boredom of married life, etc. and marriage starts looking more and more like a losing proposition.

Let betas do what they will do. No point trying to change them. They are the type who would probably never do well in the pickup scene anyways, so maybe for them marriage is the best (of a series of bad) option.

I think about it occasionally. Then I look at the whole thing rationally and banish the though.

Mini-relationships satisfy my need to slow down when it hits. And they make it easy to eject and move on when the hunger returns, without putting a dent in my bank balance. Actually I'm usually much better off financially when in a relationship. But it's nothing close to settling down since they usually don't last more than six months

I'm almost there. Few more things to put in place(hide), then I start the breeding process overseas. The wife is merely the conduit. I have several semi-retarded candidates that are beautiful.

Watch out though, intelligence (or lack thereof) is hereditary, you don't want semi retarded kids if they get their IQ from the mother!

The answer to this question is COMPLETELY depended on the person asking it.

If you are a person that wants kids and dont want to have them out of wedlock than yes you have to be thinking / conscious about your age and when to settle down.

For example I dont want to be an old dad and dont want to have a kid out of wedlock.

So for me I MUST have a kid by age 35. Which means I need to be married by 33-35.

Im 25 now, so I got another 7 years or so to "play" with.

As far as what age does it start getting hard to pull chicks. It depends on how you look and age.

You will be able to pull late 20's and 30's year old women all the way up till age 55 as long as you workout and still have STYLE.

Now with the young girls 18-25 its gonna get progressively hard for you to pull as you get older imo.

Id imagine even at 35 you should be able to pull that age range with some effort.

I cant believe you are 36 and never had a relationship over 6 months! Sounds like an older version of myself! lol

In closing you should only start thinking about it if it is in your life's plan / wishes for you to be "settled" down.

I agree, biggest reason to settle down for me at least is children. If I had no plans to have children I would probably never marry (although boredom @ 60+ might be an issue)

Some advice about settling down. Keep your own place and if you are going to live with a girl or get married move into a rental with her. If you have to rent your house out for cash flow make sure you can break the lease whenever you want. This puts you in control. Even if you buy a house with her put the minimum in. I once lived with a girl and kept my bedroom at my house and just got a roomate to help with my expenses. I deadlocked my side of the house so none of his friends even saw my shit.

I'm 35 and ready to settle. Gonna to to Clearwater Beach and find me a good woman to wed. E-mech is gonna be my best man. Hopefully he'll see the light and wife up too, and end his evil ways with women.

I'm going to marry my new badoo LTR that looks like young Janet Jackson in the Dominican and leave her there to raise an army of boys who I will put in pro baseball camps starting at age two.

Don't fuck up my plans I have for EL. I am taking him back to the old country to find a hot virgin shepherdess who giggles when she watches cartoons. Don't ruin this for me!

I tell this to all my boys. The only reason to marry is if you REALLY want to be a father, because at a certain point, it will be the only positive thing you can look back on and say it was worth it.

I don't agree that guys that finally settle down and marry are betas. I have married friends that run shit in their homes and marriages. I have other friends that basically get run over. It depends on the guy's nature. All men do have to resign themselves to a certain level of bullshit and unhappiness, but the stronger men will have more control over it.

As for settling for basic chicks, you're probably right. I think when someone settles down, it's usually with the person they happen to be with when they decide it's time. I guess the attitude is "I could do better, but I could do worse also." Or sometimes they want to settle with someone that other dudes wouldn't really look twice at, to reasonably ensure fidelity (as the song goes, "if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, make an ugly woman your wife"). Maybe guys put aside more superficial things like looks (thought it's damn important to be attracted to your wife I would think), and focus more on practical attributes if they're finally going to marry.

I waited until my late 40's before I decided it was time, at 55 I called it quits, got a land job and am now living full time with my for 9 years, Brazilian wife/fiancee/girlfriend whatever the situation is at the moment.

I think about it fairly frequently. I'm only 20 now so it won't happen any time soon, but I'd probably settle down no earlier than my late 30's, preferably in my 40's with a woman right around her mid-late 20's. I'm a fitness freak, I don't drink much at all and my male relatives (women too, for that matter) have all tended to age very well, so assuming I get my money right (which is also looking likely) I ought to have staying power into my mid 50's or so with that age-range of woman. depending on which nation/society I'm courting women in(I'm not likely to settle in America), I could probably extend that even. Plenty of broke and ugly 60+ dudes pulling cute 20-30 year olds(sometimes even late teens) in E. Europe, SE Asia and Latin America, so I ought to do ok.

I'm completely open to procreating out of wedlock, assuming I have the resources to guarantee the child's welfare and support the mother directly. I won't settle down early due to pregnancy, though.

I never understand guys who marry and then they don't have children for years. WTF? Why on earth would you give up FREEDOM for anything less than children (if that's what you want).

To the guys in their mid-30s who think they are gonna settle down soon - think again. There's a rule of thumb that if a man doesn't marry by 36 (IIRC), he will probably never marry. I believe that this phenomenon exists. In my early 30s, I was definitely in settling down mode. Now, I have zero interest in chaining myself to one woman. Maybe when the urge to have kids strikes, but that's the ONLY reason I would consider it.

yeah i agree with alot of this..
i just get bored with chicks after a while...i have been with a few girls where my mates are like 'how could u not want to stay with her etc etc'
i couldn't even imagine being with a chick for years let alone for life.
i have gone past the point of no return where i now have zero desire for marriage... zero. i dont even think marriage is normal.
thing is one day i think i would like to have a kid.. i think mid 40's

Just think, the operative word here is "settle"... As in, to accept less than you deserve.

Have your kids if you want, but why complicate things with marriage?
