This week I just finished my around the world trip which took 2 years and 2 and half months and took in about 47 countries.
Over-rated : Rio, Anywhere in Australia (seriously, dont go), Hawaii, Turkey (the most dickheadish guys in the world by far. only italian, aussie and greek guys come close), Prague, Sweden
Under-rated : Guadalajara Mx and nearby Guanajuato, Philippines (once you get out of the major cities), Austin tx (mostly for the parties and live music. local girls are nothing special), Indonesia (but stay out of kuta unless you like tourists and hookers and dont go during ramadan), Lebanon (hottest girls in the middle east), bulgaria, albania, romania, finland, moldova, lithuania

SP sucks but pretty much everyone says that SP sucks so I could not list it as 'over-rated'
It may suck because tourists don't know how to walk around.

Overrated: Costa Rica - There is something to be said when almost all of your more-attractive women are imports from Columbia or other countries.
Underrated: Salvador (Bahia) - I agree with another poster about this place. Although I do not agree with others about Rio being overrated (I feel it is rated justly), Salvador basically stopped me from going to Rio (or had me reducing my time in Rio during a Brazil visit). The women were more friendly and TO ME looked better than the women in Rio.

Great topic, i have to go with two brazillian cities
Over-rated - Rio de Janeiro - I think Rio is just too over rated, you dont really see that amount of bad bitches everywhere as some other places i have been. The media makes Rio look like a paradise plus girls are not as easy as other places.
A few days ago, i would agree with you on this. Now i had two SNL's in the past two days. I changed my technique. Yesterday i took a girl fro ma club to a love motel in under 45 minutes. Must say, she aproached me madly.
Under-rated - Salvador - I think Salvador is too under-rated, i dont know if it is the fact of people there being darker skinned but you see bad lighter skin bitches there too, you get all there. Salvador is a paradise if you into darker skin chicks with phat booties, it is also one of the few cities in the world where you get to party hard from monday to sunday. It has its downsides but its worth a visit if you havent checked it out.
That sounds good, i'm going there tomorrow or day after tomorrow for a week. Planning to do some damage there because i like dark skin and phat booties.

Nomad, didn't you swoop a "Miss Dominican Republic" there?
You have some tough "overrated" standards.

You and Naughty Nomad both need to write books.
I would buy them.
Lumiere, What is your notch and flag count after 2 years and 2 months ?
I would buy the books also. Planning on writing one myself.

Rio is over-rated and SP sucks? Personally think you are crazy. Rio is out of this world on so many levels. Sampa isn't quite on the same level but for 24/7 partying and beautiful girls you can't really go wrong. Great city.

Why would anyone buy your book when it's already out there, on the web, to read for free? Is your book going to be in English?

I agree that Costa Rica is highly over-rated, living in California, that's all you ever hear is people raving about Costa Rica and Hawaii. It is a beautiful country, but it's all set up for and over run by tourists.
The full moon party on Haad Rin beach, Koh Phangan, Thailand was probably the most overly hyped and over-rated event I've ever been to in my life. Needless to say I didn't get laid, but from my impression it was a sausage fest filled with Euro trash roid monkeys, shitty ass trance music, and sloppy 18-23 year olds.

Overrated--Beirut: some of the slums are charming, but it has no downtown to speak of other than a cookie-cutter mall and wannabe Eurotrash snobs who think they're doing it big because they have a TGI Friday's. Also, the socially conservative, golddigging nature of Lebanese women is ridiculous. You can't even open a tab in many bars because shameless sluts will act like they're with you and order hundreds of dollars worth of drinks on your credit card.
This place is hilariously hyped up by Lebanese the world over, usually by girls because they get (literally) 1000-fold more attention from horny, sexually repressed men with oil money when they'd just be a regular broad in an American mall.
Underrated- New York City: This city's greatness is not emphasized enough.

Speaking as somebody who has been to Amman, I would say that anybody who visits the Middle East to "party" is a very misguided person. I fucked a Jordanian international student in college, but the possibility of fucking her in her own country would have been slim to none.
Most Arabs don't drink, are mostly poor, and their parties are very family-oriented. You're talking about a region that is so sexually insular that ~30-50% of people marry their cousins. Not just poor people, either.
