Would you go to prison?

Would you go to prison?

This is a mindless thread solely for the sake of discussion and curiosity...inspired by a comment that Gmac left on another thread about fleeing vice doing time (I agree).

Hypothetically:
You bang a woman, completely consensual, and a week later you get arrested for rape (she lied). Your lawyer says the case is strong and while the maximum time is 10 years, you're likely looking at five, but whether it's five or ten, it doesn't matter because you're going to prison. You have $100k in the bank. Do you do the time, or get the fuck out of dodge?
*I know there are many, many details we could argue about, but lets keep it simple: Would you do hard time for a crime you didn't, or even did, commit or would you go on the lam for the rest of your life? If the latter, where would you go and what would you do?

I'd imagine you'd almost have to go on the run. I cant imagine you having any kind of life after imprisonment on rape. You'd be damn near unemployable.

I'd Roosh my way down to Brazil, live out my days. I'm not very family oriented, so not a hard decision, there's nothing that would keep me around.

Easy answer:

Split.

You would have to find a country on this list:

countries have no extradition treaties with the United States

Any experts on here can verify that list?

I'd dip the fuck out, getting locked up in a maximum security prison in the U.S. might as well be a death sentence especially if you're in a state like California.

Basically you'd have to join a prison gang for survival and chances are at some point you'd either get rapped, stabbed, severely beaten, killed, or you'd have to that to someone else.

The U.S. prison system is incredibly fucked, especially compared to other "westernized countries."

Great list. At first glance I see Vietnam and I know Vietnam and the U.S. are becoming increasingly aligned, so I wonder if Vietnam would really resist an extradition request from the U.S. I'm going to look into it out of curiosity and report back.

I'd add Northern Cyprus to the list. I remember reading that is where all the criminals run to hide.

I didn't see Cuba on that list. They won't extradite.

I'd flee if I could. US prison is hell on earth. It'd be just my luck to get stuck in a cell for ten years with the toss salad man. Fuck that!

I noticed that too.

You other option is to get a Presidential Pardon a la Marc Rich.

I know he hides out in Switzerland, but I don't know the legal in's and out's.

How would you pull off a split though?

I'm thinking you have to find work or something pretty quick, beats being in an American prison.

I am going to assume that by the time of my sentencing I would have everything in place. I am not running. Nazis are still being hunted to this day and you will be to.

Hopefully I would have chosen the right legal team that are advocates, and not those who would treat me as a case number...... pursuant to that, see the following:

A. Appeals
B. Support groups (Family and friends, innocence project, city , county , state officials, that I , or my supporters are familiar with).
C. Media
D. Any other resources me or my supporters can make available.

Can u still get a passport with a felony on your record? I would try to fight it as hard as I could but if I knew I couldn't beat the charge, id do my 5 years. I wouldn't even think about running unless it was 25+ or some crazy sentence like that.

See you in Botswana!

Once you have a felony, you can't travel to most "civilized" countries. THey'll turn you away on the EU.

Sex offense conviction equals (and this is guaranteed stuff):

* You will be raped in prison.
* You won't be able to live in a major U.S. city (due to residency restrictions).
* You won't find a good job.

This is serious business.

I would go bankrupt finding the right lawyer and private investigator.

If there's any time to go "all in," it's when hiring your legal team in a rape case.

Short of cancer, it's the worst thing that can happen to you.

Go to prison on an armed robbery stint? Your life will be completely different in the prison and out of it.

A sex offense...You guys don't even want to know the shit you'll go through.

This guy I know here got caught in a sting by the feds for sharing underage porn. They came to his house took all his computers and his passport. I told him to get the fuck out and he thought that it was just going to go away because he never heard back from them.

A year passed and then they showed up at his condo swat team style and brought him to county then federal jail.
He had a family friend who represented him at over 50k and had to plea out because the feds were asking for 260 months if he went to trial. The minimum is 5 years for this. He's sitting at his place waiting for sentencing wearing a bracelet that talks to him and he has to respond.

I know that shit is sick but he lived in Taiwan for years and developed some schoolgirl fetish.

This dude had a year though. Why did he stay? He lives right on the water and knows how to sail like a champ .Dumbass on both counts
