Medical Tourism Thread

Medical is something that isn't really included in datasheets, or at least the ones I've read, but I think it's very important. So, in addition to seeking input on what sort of elective procedures might be conducted in what areas of the world for slightly more reasonable prices, I thought I'd create a thread where people can chime in on the general state of medical care in a given locale. Because sometimes mortality comes at you pretty fast.

Regarding the elective procedures I'm interested in: I have glasses, and I don't think I want glasses anymore. I have a correctable (I think) astigmatism, so I've been pondering laser eye surgery.

Then there's my teeth. They aren't bad, by any stretch; only mild crowding, and my dentist always gives me compliments. But maybe some of that visalign shit.

Of course, I also want to get some travel under my belt. I was entirely too neurotic in the army to enjoy South Korea, so I need to get it in now. I'm 'Murican, filling out my passport application. My first stop will probably be Alberta, for work opportunities, and hopefully soon. I could go to Texas, but why the fuck not Alberta? But yeah, let's talk medical. Where to go for what, where not to go for anything, and so on.

this is a rockstar idea for a thread. +1 from me.

I was about to buy some XYZ RX creme in good ole' USA and after checking Walmart pharmacy (which is often the cheapest <not always, but often>), I even tried BLINK health who is spamming me all over my secret stalking FB profile and even with the XMAS $50 dollars instantly off, the RX was still like $179 dollars or something close to that....
So I was heading to Spain anyway and I found the same RX for 15 Euros at one Pharmacy and 20 at another.. Im gonna buy another before I leave just for good measure.

I know in UA the dentists are awesome and REDIC cheap.

in the Phils they are doing open heart surgery and cancer surgeries with the same instruments they use in AUS... 2 bad I still wouldn't do it ha but I've heard good reports

Glad you like it. I just looked up the XYZ stuff. Is that something you've used in the past, or is this a new experiment for you? If you've used it before, I'm guessing you've had good results since you're buying more?

UA is Ukraine? Great to know about the dentists. And definitely wouldn't have thought that about Philippines. Interesting. It seems teh developing world is developing faster than I thought. Good to know. I really need to get out of the states and see some places.

I did about $3500 (quote from doctor in USA) worth of oral surgery in San Jose Costa Rica with a doctor that speaks English and went to high school in Alabama. It cost me about $375. I also got some regular cleaning and a filling. Saved myself thousands of dollars. I'm in Mexico now about to get a lump-thing removed and I'm thinking of getting my hairline enhanced a bit with some robot done hair transplants. Minor things but part of an overall makeover I'm trying to do.

I've had dental work in Ukraine (root canal, porcelain crown, annual cleanings). Many young dentists speak adequate English. I also get annual blood tests at Synevo. Prices about 30% of USA prices. Generic Viagra (sildenafil) about $1.50 per 50mg pill.

Has anybody had dental work done in Cancun/Playa Del Carmen area in Mexico, particularly dental crowns?
