Vitiligo - Having both light & dark skin at the same time, & it keeps changing

Writing a different post about Michael Jackson today reminded me of this topic.

I first saw vitiligo in some classmates who were from india when I went to school as a child. I remember as a child being surprised that such a thing existed, but not in a negative way. Now, as an adult I find this trait quite fascinating, but I haven't seen it very often, even though I travel a lot. From what I've read online it isn't a permanent skin color/pattern either, but rather your skin keeps changing its appearance all throughout your life.

I don't know if Michael Jackson really had vitiligo, or he just claimed that to hide his numerous plastic surgeries, but in this short segment of an interview in 1993 with Oprah, he seems to make claims that hint at this without actually saying the word "vitiligo".
