Alcohol and confidence

Gentlemen, any thoughts?

You get better quality out of life, not just women, when you approach it with confidence. Confidence with women empowers you to build confidence in most other life situations, and visa versa. Some men are naturally more confident than others, while most of us need to work hard on constantly improving this quality.

Alcohol helps by blurring boundaries between what's allowed and what's not, in your head. It gives you a false sense of invincibility. This is all good, but you cannot always use alcohol to prop yourself up, and drinking leads you to spend lots of money and damage your health. While my rate of success with women is higher when I'm intoxicated (and they are too), inevitably leading to greater general confidence when sober, I still wonder whether it's such a good thing in itself. I'm beginning to realize that being confident and successful sober gives you a bigger boost in terms of increasing your value in your own eyes. While it sounds pretty obvious logically, it is really not until you really come to that realization. Any thoughts/ideas?

Drinking to calm your nerves is okay but you shouldn't get tooooo hammered and start working your game on girls. If you're way too drunk that chicks are just gonna look at you like some drunken retard.

I concur. That was not my question though.

When you drink, it appears that you do it to gain confidence, which is not a good thing because you're accepting that you don't have much confidence in the first place. Alcohol also messes with your emotions and it does not help you build better qualities. True character building only happens when you are sober. I've realized this recently, and now I'm holding back on any alcohol I have at parties or whenever I go approach a girl. Besides, you don't remember many things when you are drunk, so what if you found a better way to interact with girls, told an awesome story, but you can't remember because the alcohol has now made you forget... that really sucks.

PS: could you reply to my post too? I really need some advice

I just started recently having one or two glasses of red before going out. I hardly drink when I'm out though.

Completely agree - it's false confidence. Elguapo seems to worked out a good tactic though. I presented a paper once to a crowd of pretty serious dudes - had a shot of whiskey before I did that (no more than that) and it went breezy. Same with girls. The key is to reach the state when you don't need alcohol at all, however much it helps.

Yep, Red wine just mellows the heck out of me, pretty much the only alcohol I actually enjoy drinking.

If the problem is nerves, what about an anti-anxiety medication like Xanax?

It's been mentioned before.
The confidence that you get when you're drunk isn't real. That being said, if you do get lucky and hit it off with a girl the next time you see her when you're sober is going to be a bit awkward. Because here she thought you were a funny and confident guy but if you're actually very shy then she will lose interest in you thinking that you're a pussy when you're sober.
Anyway, I don't think that the type of girl you attract when you're in your druken confident state is the type of girl that is a keeper.

If I want an artificial boost, I use alcohol.
