Last night I went out to see Steve Aoki at a small club. I'm walking to the bar and notice this 8 standing there awkwardly staring at her phone and looking around. I go up use the "did you get my text" line she looks at me like she thinks she knows me but realizes she doesn't and laughs. We talk for a while she says she's waiting for her boyfriend I tell her she should have done what I did (I told her I left my girlfriend at home because she'd just ruin the fun we're having) she laughs and agrees. She tells me she has to go meet him in line and leaves(you can see the line from where we were and he was indeed there looking angry I was laying the mackdown on his girl). I get my drink and get to the dancefloor by the time i get to a good spot I've helped stop two shoving matches. A while later someone tries to grab my glowstick belt thing I made. Anyways I pull it back don't look at the person they grab again forcefully and rip it off of me. I turn around and angry caveman boyfriend is there with a shit eating grin. I stared him down not breaking eye contact for a good 30 seconds then out of the crowd came his girlfriend. She started bitching him out and like a mother would to a child who stole something. She makes him give it back he drops his head and I tell him to go for a timeout and laugh at him.
What I'm asking is there a better way to go about this? (say the girlfriend didnt come and he tried to fight me) what is the best way to show higher value in these kinds of situations?

Then go talk to the bouncer.
If at any time he gets physical with you, state,

I would have headbutted him square in the nose and grabbed my glow-belt and left him in a pool of blood then grabbed his girl by the back of her head and made out with her before I walked out the door. I can't stand anyone grabbing at me but would not wear a glow belt the people enjoy fucking with.

I probably would have landed a swift blow to his mid-section, knocking the wind out of him. While he's disabled, grab the belt and quietly walk the other way.
After politely asking for the belt back of course.
No blood and no witnesses.
Probably won't show higher value to the girl but why would you want to at this point?

Thanks for the responses. The bar I was at is one I frequent, its right across the street from my place. They scan ID's and if incidences happen where they get phyiscal you get banned for the year. You can also get banned for the year if you do anything a girl doesn't like such as slapping her ass or she could even just not like you and make some bullshit up. Gmac there would be witnesses haha there were probably close to 100 people on the dancefloor many women too.

That's why you do it extremely quick then duck out and walk away. Of course, that doesn't work if it's not crowded, but with 100 people there? Hell yeah you can get away with it.

Scan Id's? That sucks. I probably wouldn't go there. The last time I was in Tucson that freaked me out you never see that shit around where I live.

Yeah they do it at most places here in Vancouver it SUCKS. I think it was partly due to gang activity in the bars too, I don't think you can wear ed hardy/affliction or anything of that style anywhere, which shouldn't be a problem for most of us. Its also used to weed out fake ids, unless you can get one that scans, the amount of fly 18 year olds has significantly decreased hahahaha.
