Personally I don't buy into the 4th generation warfare concept.

The Russians, arguably, have created something original with their 'New Generation Warfare'. There are aspects of it that might be said to be innovative, rather than simply modern applications of ancient principles using modern mediums/technologies. 4th generation warfare as a concept is of very little value in my opinion. Support troops have always been a target, and liable to end up being engaged by the enemy where possible.

Nobody gives a fuck about the Army. The Royal Marines are the ones we should really care about.

To be fair, the U.S. and other more recent colonies have many of the bravest English genetics.

Imagine the courage it took to travel weeks or months across endless oceans to transplant their families to untamed foreign lands.

The British Army has launched its new recruitment drive.

Just to be clear, these aren't actually memes;

As long as they don't touch the SAS.

As if those disgusting recruitment posters weren't bad enough on their own (see post #30 above), it turns out they used the photo of the soldier in the 'Snowflake' one without his permission! And now he's going to have to resign, cos as he rightly says, he will undoubtedly be ridiculed and bullied forever more!

Imagine wanting nothing more than to join the Army and serve the country you love doing the job you love, and then to suddenly find the organisation you were prepared to bleed for has spent a fortune calling you a snowflake for the whole world to see! Absolutely inexcusable. Hope he sues them for millions.

A Scots Guardsman is quitting the Army after his picture was used below the word ‘snowflakes’ in a controversial recruitment campaign, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Guardsman Stephen McWhirter, 28, who has protected the Queen at Buckingham Palace, had no idea his face would appear alongside the slogan ‘Snowflakes – the Army needs you and your compassion’ before the poster was unveiled last week.

Guardsman McWhirter has told friends he has been bombarded with mocking messages from colleagues and feels that, because he was not forewarned, the Army has left him open to ridicule. He says he will resign at the earliest opportunity.

The soldier, who is based at Wellington Barracks in London, expressed his fury on Facebook in a discussion with other troops dismayed about the £1.5 million campaign. One squaddie wrote: ‘Imagine the army taking a photo of you and writing “snow flake” in massive bold letters above your head. I’d be signed straight off.’

To which Guardsman McWhirter responded: ‘Don’t f****** worry, mate, I am.’

Depends where your sympathies lie. Personally, I view a true Snowflake as someone who gets upset over nothing. This to me isn't 'nothing', I reckon the bloke has a genuine grievance. No matter, if he's lucky he might come out of it with some money, if nothing else.

Regarding recruitment campaigns though, the best Army one was the old Royal Marines Commando one. It went something along the lines of;

'Royal Marines Commando: 99.9% need not apply'

A mate once told me of his 'hippy', 'druggie' mate who saw this back in the day and became inspired to join. Just because nobody thought he could. Shaved his hair, went out running, joined up!

Never mind the fact they used his face without his permission and implied he's a snowflake, in what fucking army is a soldier's compassion needed?

The whole fucking point is to have zero compassion as you shoot another living human being who is just misunderstood and is screaming Allahu Akbar, isn'it it? Oh, wait, it's the British Army, it's only the locals who do that sort of thing.

I don't know if it's bad in the Uk but the worst people are the ones who join the military, get a crap job then brag about being a vet or serving the country. You don't hear anybody else brag about it. No firemen, no police officers, only low-level military guys. Actually, I hear it more from women, the guys know the job sucks but it's not life-threatening. Women join as if they did the remarkable.

Those recruitment posters...
Hitler must be spinning in his grave. ~80 years too early to conquer England...

Although. If the ultimate intent is to cull the weak instead of squandering your best & brightest as glorified cannon fodder in war.
It does actually have some merit.
Only as long as the Safe Space Soycialists don't climb the ranks & start dictating military policy.

Although again, that those posters even exist is no doubt an indication that Safe Space Soycialists are readily working on undermining the military.

Yet with modern warfare taking place among towns & cities just as readily as open battlefields & the nature of smaller forces to reside among civilian populations.
All the while, clear lines of demarcation are less obvious.
Support troops being attacked from all angles is more likely than days of yore where troops met via an obvious front line.
