Oct South America itinerary advice

Hi guys.. I got enough points for Oct in South America.

I was planning Oct 2nd Buenos Aries and leaving on Oct 14 from Santiago Chile from home.

My plan was for 3 nights in Buenos Aires... nights in Rio and rest in Santiago before heading home.

I'm late 40's and these days primarily travel for tourism these days but l still like to game and get in a bang when I get a chance ...I'm not much a Spanish speaker other then No dinero.

I'm starting to go through the mountain of information on here ....any tips or advice from guys would be great....as open to changing the itinerary specifically if there are any awesome places to see or festivals going on in the first 2 weeks of Oct.

Rio is an amazing city to visit and has a bunch of tourist stuff to do (beaches, Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf mountain, Ilha Grande nearby), so I'd save a few days to do that kind of stuff if that's what your into.

If you wanna game, during the day hit up the beaches and juice bars and talk to girls, ask them what their plans are that night or soon. At night, there are lots of places (there is a party every day of the week), but you have to know where to go. I wrote a datasheet on Rio (datasheet), so check that out.

I'd give Rio at least 3 days, 5 would be optimal. It's a beautiful city.

The less time in Chile the better. The only cool thing about Santiago is really that there are a ton of Venezuelans there now who have fled their country.

I'm gonna be in South America in October as well. Not going to Chile though but will visit Buenos Aires and Montevideo. Anyway I agree with Celestial and CaptainChardonnay about Rio. It really is an amazing city and as far as girls go, you can't really do much better. Since you'll be flying to Buenos Aires, I'd take advantage of the opportunity with the nearby cities. I'd spend the three days there as you said then take the ferry to Montevideo. From there, you have a short (1 hour or so) flight to Rio. And from Rio, you can take the bus (very comfortable) to Sao Paulo. The bus takes six hours. Then you fly to Santiago and end your trip there.

Oct 2-4: Buenos Aires
Oct 4-6: Montevideo
Oct 6-11: Rio
Oct 11-12: Sao Paulo
Oct 12-14: Santiago

Maybe something like that?

I've heard really good things about Uruguay also, my friends go there to visit vineyards and eat meat. They have some of the best meat in the world along with Argentina.

Thanks for the good advice... I may skip Chile as I have not heard a lot of goods things about there unless you have to fly to Easter Island which I was considering but the flight and accommodation seems really expensive.

Not surprisingly there is not much into on the forum on Santiago...Montevideo sounds interesting.

What about Lima ? Should I skip it ?

Aside from Machu Picchu I did not hear a lot of good things to do there

I would strongly recommend Palermo Soho as a neighbourhood to stay in Buenos Aires. So many beautiful girls, nice places to have a coffee, a bite, or a drink. Also lots of clubs, which don't really get going til midnight but the party goes so late its early morning.

Palermo Soho has incredibly beautiful women. Can't recommend it enough.

Thanks for great advice... AirBNB or hotel ?

Considering the economic crisis Argentina has gone through and is still in... the prices in Buenos Aires does not seem cheap and women I have heard are harder to game then Brazil.

I Was there 5 years ago and stayed in a hostel but in a private room. Unfortunately can't remember the name of the place.

I would definitely recommend going down to the roundabout with all the patios and restaurants at night. Also, I was reminiscing about the trip with an old buddy, and the Rose Bar is still open. Huge club with gorgeous women playing a mix of Spanish and north American music. Had some luck there myself.

I was in Lima a few months ago. The quality of the girls on the street is not as good as in Brazil or Colombia (and probably not like in Argentina or Uruguay either). Lots of girls with the Inca look. In the high end clubs you might spot a couple of hotties, but personally I didn't find it worthwhile. The city itself is pretty bland and boring as well (although the food is good!). In October it's still going to be relatively cold and cloudy as well. I recommend skipping it, especially since it is quite far from Buenos Aires and Rio.

Hey just a quick update to this post as I'm booked to me leaving from Buenos Aires on Oct 12th back home to Toronto.

I was planning 3 nights Lima, 4 nights Rio and 4 nights Buenos Aires but I'm open to change the plans. I'm late 40's and travel primarily for pleasure but it's almost great if I get a bang while on vacation
