London Nightlife Data Sheet 2017 by Boris

Hi All

I’m back in Moscow at the moment but did a fair amount of going out in London recently. Nothing much has changed but thought I would give an update on the current London scene:

Update on previously mentioned places:

100 Wardour street - Soho
Oh dear oh dear…me and my buddy got rejected entry to this place for the first time ever early on a Saturday night recently. This place was always full of essex girls (see my previous link to their photo gallery on sintillate website) and was easy entry for males as long as you got yourself on the sintillate guest list via their website. It seems now that big groups of guys are turning up (hmm… the power of this forum I ask myself?! haha) and the door has got really tight. Turn up with girls or book a table, otherwise you will get rejected seems to be the new regime. Shame

Toy Room - Oxford Circus
This place still seems to be massively popular judging by the queue that stretches down the street on Fri and Sat (I regularly attend aqua which is opposite). The queue seems to feature an average age of about 18 these days (hot student chicks) so I feel I am too old to go here anymore and haven’t been inside for a while. if you want a higher end vibe, are young and don’t want to mingle with older douches like me then this is your goto place. The door is not that harsh and the staff are remarkably friendly for such a venue.

5 hertford street aka LouLous - Mayfair
This still remains most exclusive club in London, they have recently reduced the number of guests a member can bring in as it’s really pumping these days. I have noticed a large increase in the number of Russian / Ukranian models going here, it really is a glory to behold. If you want to drop some cash to join a members club then this is still the one to go for. However it may not retain it’s top spot for long… everyone there is talking about the sister club that will shortly open (see below)

New Annabelles - Mayfair
This is the sister club of LouLous and is yet to open, but the buzz and hype around this place is huge so I thought I’d mention it. Waiting list for membership must be a mile long when it opens I have a feeling it will be epic. My buddy is on the list and has his finger’s crossed. I will report back if he ever manages to get in there haha. If you meet a contact with some leverage here then use it (and invite me!)… guaranteed this place will be top of the tree if it ever actually opens.

Spots I went to recently:

Home House - Marylebone
A big members club, across a couple of impressive townhouses. I have been here a few times and found it quite good, but the crowd usually seemed to be a rather stuffy collection of mid-tier professionals looking to network. But recently went for an event and it was awesome! Much more mixed crowd, several rooms, dj's bands you name it. Loads of girls too and mixed ages. If I see another event taking place I will deffo go again.

Mnky Hse - Mayfair
This is a restaurant club, it has a lounge bar upstairs and the restaurant plus small bar downstairs, not sure if I mentioned it before. It used to be the Dover street wine bar for those who care. The segregated entry system is slightly confusing (there appear to be 2 doors now) I really like this place although it is quite small, face control is harsh so the ratios are great and the quality of the women is high (lots of Russians). This place seems to clear out pretty early e.g. 1am so would recommend starting here for drinks propped up at the bar (or a pricey but tasty dinner), you will easily bounce women from here.

Peyote - Mayfair
Similar to mnky hse, this is a restaurant with small bar scene upstairs. The food here is really good and it’s a celeb hangout which brings in the vacuous chicks. I liked the vibe but we left to go elsewhere pretty early after dinner (awesome food) so I didn’t get to see if it gets jumping. My friend insists that later on in the evening when people have finished eating they clear some tables and the place gets jumping (they have a DJ), but it’s small and I’m sceptical but thought I would mention it anyway. Since I’m getting older I’m gravitating more towards these types of venues where you eat accompanied and then mingle with the other diners (often big groups of girls). Will revisit, stay later and report.

The Long bar @ Sanderson Hotel - Fitzrovia
This is a fairly nondescript looking bar but the main room has no seating and it’s quiet so it’s a great place to stand by the bar and mingle. Start your evening here then bounce to LE or Mandrake. Easy door, civilised, good for over 30s.

The London Edition - Fitzrovia
Walking distance from The Long bar. Another hotel with a couple of bars / lounges. Feels pretty plush when you walk in there, has a separate, intimate lounge section at the back that requires a booking which would be a great date venue - can’t remember the name. Weak face control, similar professional older crowd. Bit dull but worth sticking your head in on the way to Mandrake Hotel.

Waeska @ Mandrake Hotel - Fitrovia
Another hotel bar that is close walking distance from the two mentioned above. This one is by far the strangest of the three. The entrance looks like a shithole but the face control is harsh - as if you were attempting to gain entry to fort knox. They seem to be trying to make this an exclusive celeb hangout. Once you manage to get past the interrogation the space inside is actually quite nice and would definitely appeal to the instagram attention whores. Inside you will find horrendously overpriced cocktails and a nice central courtyard where you can smoke. This place is a little mysterious and could be quite good if they limit the pretentiousness a bit. I have only been early in the evening and it was quiet on both occasions but I’m told it gets busy after 11pm. Will revisit.

Zuma - Knightsbridge
A nice but highly overpriced restaurant that has been around for years. No longer as trendy as it was and not that great but worth mentioning as Knightsbridge can be a pretty disappointing place to find yourself in as regards nightlife. Zuma has a smallish bar section but is often full of Russian chicks doing their instagram thing (i.e coming in for a glass of champagne at the bar and pretending they ate there) so it’s worth sticking your head in if you are in the area and having a drink at the bar. Full of b-list celebs and wannabes - don’t go to the restaurant but do go to the bar for the Russian girls.

Requests for intel:

Beats Afterparty club - Oxford circus
I have tried to get in here a couple of times at 5am (it’s an afterparty club) and have been unwilling to pay the £1k odd for a table they demanded and have given up. Can anyone confirm what this place is like or if anyone is a member here fancy taking me along? I am always intrigued by places I can’t get into… I have a feeling this is an epic venue but since I always turn up already drunk at some ungodly hour I can’t justify the cost.

The NED hotel - Bank
This place keeps getting mentioned and seems to have some hype around it, it’s a new posh hotel with a couple of bars inside and some kind of membership scheme. It looks fairly lame from the website but would be interested to hear if anyone has been here. I haven’t been as it’s outside my usual stomping ground. If anyone has checked it out let me know.

Drama Park Lane - Mayfair
To be honest I’m unsure if I’ve actually been here or not, I may have been when it was called something else (haha too many drunken nights out). The reason I mention it is that it seems to be very popular with girls I meet in aqua. Virtually every group of girls I’ve chatted with recently has said they are going either there or Charlie’s. Anyone been recently, what’s it like?

Art's Club - Mayfair
Member's club, same street as MNKY Hse. Have been aware of this place for ages but never appealed to me to try and go for some reason. However, keep hearing about it from the whorish eurotrash crowd implying it is full of the usual Russian / Ukranian dirtbags. Anyone a member here? Anyone with genuine intel?

That's it for now.

You'd know if you'd been there as it's pretty much in the Hilton although it could be because the interior changes, or at least I think it does as it's never quite the same when you visit once then come back a couple of months later unless I'm just too involved to really notice the decor properly first time around?

It's very good, lives up to it's name with great DJs and is expensive like pretty much every other 'exclusive' club in London although it's easy to get on the guest list providing you've got a mixed party, not tried solo. VIP is £2.5k min. spend now, again in line with the other clubs.

There are far more women than guys there, it's a good vibe and you don't see guys hitting on the girls like desperate shits like elsewhere. Good amount of Eastern Euros as well as your usual upmarket crowd.

Dress code wise, your standard hype wear will be fine as well as the usual club attire although you need to judge it right, less is more as they say but one statement piece is good.
