Entertaining and teaching us some lessons nonetheless. Edmund Burke is quoted with saying that In history, a great volume is unrolled for our instruction, drawing the materials of future wisdom from the past errors and infirmities of mankind.

He would have won even if he didn't get any money.

Thomas Rossi could not be reached for comment Tuesday, but he weaves a compelling tale in his court papers. Before their divorce--and the fateful Lotto windfall--the Rossis were "a couple of homebodies" from the Westside who did everything together, he said.

"We shared the same bathroom, and we even shared the same electric toothbrush," he said in court papers.

Denise, however, tells a different story in her filings and an interview Tuesday. She said she had been unhappy for many years and was looking for a way out. He was always broke, and she was always working, she said.

Amazing how two people being married and living together for so many years can have drastically different perspectives on their relationship.

Superior Court Judge Richard Denner determined that she acted out of fraud or malice. He based his decision on a deposition in which Denise Rossi admitted that she concealed her winnings because she didn't want her ex-husband "getting his hands on" them.

I mean, if you're going to admit to your fraud upon the court in a sworn deposition, say good night, Gracie. Everybody knows these things go on, but you actually put it into evidence?

AFAIK, this is typically treated as a default judgment in favor of your opponent, as if you never tried your side of the case at all.

Tell them too much, they wouldn't understand; tell them what they know, they would yawn.
They have to move up by responding to challenges, not too easy not too hard, until they paused at what they always think is the end of the road for all time instead of a momentary break in an endless upward spiral

Yup - this case happens to countless men too. If you conceal it, then the other party gets 100%.

Still funny that she tried to save 50% and now she has nothing.

The only way to pull that off would be to move to Argentina instantly and to never to return.

I think Brazil doesn't extradite for non-violent crimes. Argy I'm not sure.
