Where do you find web devs?

I need a web dev for a project I'm working on.
It's a simple web page, like 2-3 pages and a recurring monthly credit card billing system, nothing complicated. I would write the copy, so I'd literally just need the page and the billing system.

The guy I would normally ask is busy making his own cryptocurrency and won't answer the phone, so now I'm not sure where to go.

Where do you even go to hire someone to do this?
What does it cost?

Once you start collecting payments. The developer will need to authenticate users on your site. This will result in it being more expensive then your usual 2 to 3 page website.

Pm me if you dont find anyone. Im a developer but id have to do some research on billing software.

This isn't 100% true. If there is no paywall protected content on the site you do not have to do user authentication. For example, an e-commerce store that allows you to check out as a guest.

Sounds to me like the OP is creating some newsletter, or other content, style monthly production. The web site pages are probably some type of copy designed to sell, and there wouls be no paywall protected content. You could setup a basic WP site and use Stripe payment processing plugin to handle the payments. The OP would then log into his stripe account to get the list of emails that signed up.

That is, however, a low end solution as some type of automated emailing system wouiod be a better user experience. That way the second the users payment is processed they will receive an email with some type of verification or paid content.

I'm fond of Strips as their API is pretty easy to work with. I recently spent 3 or 4 days building a subscription service python backend using Stripe as the provider. It was straightforward and nice to be able handle the webhooks to uipdate the users status automatically....if, for example, a recurring payment fails to go through Stripe will send a post request to some url endpoint with the json details of the event. You then just have to handle the incoming post request a and update the users as appropriate.

Single purchase, such as ecommerce, are just as easy. You create some order object for the order. User enters in their payment Information and stripe processes the payment. When the payment is complete, stripe sends a webhooks to your endpoint. You use the json data to find the order in the database, update it to paid, and then do whatever automated business logic you need.

But I digress. To answers the OPs original question, you can find developers here apparently. Good luck with your project OP, drop some posts here if you need a consult to make sure your developer is doing things correctly.

Edit - forget that you asked about costs. If you with a brick and mortar US based web development firm, you're looking at an industry standard of about $120 per billable hour. I normally charge 50-75 if I know the person, and go $100 an hour if I don't. Freelancers on upwork will range from a few bucks an hour (stay far away from these people) to about the industry standard. $40 an hour is a good sweet spot where you will find quality freelancers.

If your project is similar to what I said earlier, I would charge somewhere in the range of $2000-$2500 for it. The biggest portion of that would be setting up payment processing. If you need paywall protected content as Godzilla mentioned, that price can rise drastically depending on the complexity of your needs.

Never cross streams.

Go to your nearest university, pay a student minimum wage, you will get exactly what you want on a project like this for a FRACTION of what anyone else can justify charging.
