I also recognize him as the first in a new line of soyboy-leftist musicians using whatever fame they could cobble together to push a political agenda. It's like they knew they were second-rate talents so they had to take advantage of their 15 minutes to get pandas in the news.
There's always been lefty activist musicians, but at least 60's rockers were going to marches and interacting with the people from the stage, and made good music as their first cause...these fools just push play on a sampler and pretend they are performing, then give interviews that are 99% about malaria or the rainforest.
