True, but Freddie Ljungberg and David Beckham are exceptionally good looking and are both models.

Their physiques are just very slim and toned - the soccer player look. Ljungberg in that picture is pretty damn skinny, I don't think he can weigh more than 150lbs - if that, same with Beckham/

Not to mention are attracted to status and money, both of which those guys have. This is why debating what physique girls like is useless. You can say "well look at Beckham, he's thing but toned" but he's also a handful of other things, that I'm sure weigh in just as much, if not more, on a womans opinion of him. Some girls like 120 pound emo rocker guys, but maybe its also because he dresses the way they like and plays in a band. Some girls like beefy Am. Football players, maybe its their muscular broad physique or maybe its that he's the starting whatever for team blank.

Physique should matter most to the man who owns it. Look good, feel good, be healthy. The rest will come naturally.

I started back on deadlifts today. My shoulder got sore (rotator cuff impingement?) from lateral raises a month ago. How do we efficiently get a good yoke?

And the cardiovascular endurance of greek myth. Its different body types.

I'm a big burly dude, always have been, always will be, and I like that there are Beckham built guys around because it lets me stand out, just like if he goes to the Jersey Shore he'll stand out for not being a roid monkey.

Embrace the differences man, if we were all the same flavor of win then we'd be fighting tooth and nail against one another.

I remember Beckham say he did put some muscle on before. He ended up going back because his game suffered. It must have slowed him down.

I don't see any advantage a soccer player would gain by bulking up. It's an endurance game mixed with bursts of speed.

I never do raises.

I stick with shrugs mixed with both seated and standing shoulder presses. This is combined with the occasional squats (for balance-I hate doing them and since I don't play ball anymore I don't need to, but I don't want my leg strength to go), a whole lot of bench (I usually just rep out every other day on about 225lbs, slightly inclined, go until failure) and ab work. Curls are supplementary(I do them in between sets of shrugs/shoulder presses).

This workout hasn't changed much in 8 years(I do a bit more shoulder work now than I used to since I know how important that is). Combine it with a relatively low car, low fat and high protein diet and things are good to go.

Its a different body type because he doesnt lift heavy weights and eat a lot.

Im not embracing having the chest of a middle school boy.

You can get laid with zero muscle and being as skinny runt with HB8's. So at the end of the day it doesnt really matter.

If you're tall, your frame can carry a lot of muscle and not look big. I'm 6'4" and almost exactly 200 lbs and working on adding weight. As I can see in the mirror, I'm slowly starting to lose that skinny look. I think if you're over 6 feet tall, you need to weigh over 200 lbs to have a decent physique.

Agree.

Guys, I guess I myself have this problem. I really need to build Shoulders and pecs, but nothing is building up as much as I try.
I guess I am doing something wrong - Planning to start over for third time!
Some suggestions will be welcomed.

Need more info. Age, height, weight, metabolism, diet, type of exercise/how long, body fat.

Otherwise, the advice is gonna be generic. Upper body needs to be exercised as a group. You cannot focus on just one part because that part relies on other parts to enable maximum workouts. Focus on very low rep/high weight designs. Someone posted a good suggestion on 5-3-1. I personally do four sets of the same exercise; rep count varies on what I want to achieve with that muscle group: more mass, more weight lifted, tone, etc.

Shoulders have three components: anterior, lateral, posterior. Make sure you work all three. Rotators generally don't affect shoulders; they affect chest and certain types of upper back muscles where you need to swivel your arms either at your elbows or shoulder joints.

Casey Butt: he's got good definition, but his shoulders and upper arms are way too large for *my taste on me*.

As Omar would say, "Looking like Beckham is what we call one of those good problems."

Why not get a build like him first, and build from there rather than theorizing and shit?

Please stop giving advice if you don't know what you're talking about. 10 years in the gym doesn't mean shit if you are practicing the wrong stuff..

Multijoint exercises are way more efficient than isolation movements. Military press is fine for your shoulders. If you're concerned with posterior deltoids then do pullups.

The primary function of the rotator cuff is to stabilize the shoulder joint. You don't need to "work out your rotator cuff for swivel movements." Unless you have a history of shoulder injuries or are in rehabilitation, this isn't a very productive thing to spend your time on..

Please do proper research next time

I was a bit harsh in my tone, it was unnecessary.

But the answer your question- ACSM says it. Single joint movements are more useful for older people and those with poor balance.

What does your daily meal intake consist of? What do you suggest for a taller male who is trying to do squats? I cannot go parallel without leaning forward. Any tips to bypass that?

Do protein shakes work? I really can't follow a strict diet because of school and work but it wouldn't be a problem drinking those.

Is that even without weight? Then it's probably a matter of flexibility. Look around for stretching for squats and lifters, or start doing yoga. stronglifts.com is a handy resource.

If that only happens when you have some weight on, it's probably because part of your torso is weak, likely your abdomen, lower back or upper back. Make sure you're doing exercises that strengthen those. And really squeeze the bar with your hands to maintain tension in your back.

Your suppose to lean forward (while keeping a tight arch in your back).

It's a huge misconception that you keep your torso upright during squats. That will fuck up your knees. If your a taller guy looking to put size on your legs but you don't plan on competing at powerlifting meets or olympic lifting trials (like myself) it's not mandatory to break parallel.

Most of my clients and folks I help at the gym are flexible enough to break parallel but its usually a technique issue consisting of foot placement and knowing how to stand up properly.

I have people do these to give them an idea of how to squat low

when you back squat with a bar on your back, there is and should be a tilt forward
