Caligula's New York Data Sheet

With a bit longer in the city under my belt it's time to bust out a real data sheet and flesh out some of the things I've dropped on other NYC threads.

Like every big city there are different fishbowls and you'll have to figure out what works for you. This sheet is actually a Manhattan data sheet. There are plenty of other places Williamsburg (hipster girls), deeper in Brooklyn (especially the Russian girls of Brighton Beach) or the ethnic enclaves in Queens (Jackson Ave for Colombianas) and the Bronx. More on those here: http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-2863.html

Logistics: Because NYC is big getting around can be a pain in the ass. If you stay somewhere reasonably central you will be able to walk almost anywhere. If you go to the Upper East Side or down to the Lower East Side you can get the subway which runs all night.

The girls are flaky. I've ever seen this much flaky behaviour before. Girls have a lot of options and they act like it. Qualifying girls early on is really important here; pretty girls get constant attention, more than most other cities. There is huge variety here and a lot of girls at the top of the scale.

At night girls often want you to join them where they are. Don't do this. Tell them you're at some cool place and that they should join. It's a big city and there are fresh leads everywhere! Girls who move to NYC quickly become status obsessed. A lot of guys respond to this by trying to impress them with their achievements. This is the resume type 'game' they get hit with all the time; do the opposite.

Accomodation: There are tons of options. I like staying at places via http://www.airbnb.com - cheaper than hotels and you can find comfortable / unique places in lively areas where there aren't many hotels. If you want to stay at a hotel I highly recommend The Jane Hotel. You can get a room here from $100 / night and there's a great venue downstairs that has something going on every night of the week (see below). If you can afford it The Standard is a good option, but starts at $350 / night. It's right in the middle of the action and has very nice rooms. Girls will love being invited back to your room there.

With a view to where the nightlife is I recommend staying in the East Village, Greenwich Village or Flatiron. The Upper East Side offers good value and some good venues of its own, but it's also a bit out of the way.

Pros:
- Massive variety of girls and fishbowls you will find a niche here
- Logistics are relatively easy for such a populous city
- Late nightlife every night of the week

Cons:
- Girls get hit on a lot and have inflated egos
- Expensive!

Daygame

Collect a lot of numbers during the day and start texting late afternoon / evening when you head out to the night venues.

I don't have a huge amount of experience with this, but I'm finishing up reading Day Bang so expect a review and more in depth info on daygame in NYC after that. I'm especially excited about subway game.

Central Park - the steps of the Metropolitan Museum are good during the day. Lots of traffic and mainly tourists. Union Square is good because it's a tourist hub and there are lots of modeling agencies in the area and a lot of people passing through. Bookstores are another good bet - look up the big Barnes & Noble stores, there a big one on 5th Ave near 17th Street.

I'm not good at daygame, but I sometimes rack up approaches in the above places. Daygame is tough in NYC; girls are on their guard and often in a rush.

Daytime drinking is more my style. A good venue is the Beer Garden at the Standard in the Meatpacking District. It fills up in the late afternoon on weekdays with a very varied (yuppie heavy) after work crowd. During the weekend it's packed all afternoon. You pay 8 dollars for a beer token at the entrance, they don't accept cash/cards at the main bar. This can be redeemed for beer and food inside. It's a massive place. Grab one of the tall white seats by the entrance to catch the passing traffic as people go in and out.

Outside the Beer Garden there's garden furniture by the main entrance of the Standard Hotel; during the day tourists will often sit there for some rest and it's a good place to approach.

If you meet a girl at the beer garden and need to transition go to the Top of the Standard where there's an incredible view of the city. It's pricy but awesome. If you're on a tighter budget there are many other options nearby.

Night game

There are tons of options. Weekends are terrible, but there's much fun to be had on weekdays. In fact weekday nightlife is way better in NYC than weekends, where places quickly get very crowded.

Scene / trendy clubs - this is where the cool kids, the socialites, the wannabes and the fashion girls go. They often have nights that are guestlist only so call ahead to check before going or try to sneak the bouncer a $20, though it will be the person with the clipboard who calls the shots. Sometimes you can say you're from out of town and ask them to put you on the list if you call ahead the same day, but don't count on it.

Logistics are the key to mastering game in NYC. You don't want to end up on a wild goose chase being rejected from every place you go to. Plan ahead and dress sharp.

The Jane Hotel Bar: young model girls and wannabe socialites galore. Also trendy looking yuppies in thick rimmed glasses and suits. Is loosing its lustre a bit but still a fun place to go. It's spread over two floors with two bars and a dancefloor in a dark high vaulted room. Think oak paneling, big chandeliers and plushy sofas. Go there early. You should be dressed well or you'll get turned away at the door. If you go as one guy you may well get in, two guys is pushing it and three you'd have to be on the list. This also means that the ratio never gets stupidly out of whack so it's a good choice. This is your best best for getting into one of the more scenester heavy places without connections or guest list.

The Soho Grand - Soho: this place can be fun. Mixed crowd age wise, it runs from young scenester party kids to older yuppie types. Generally fashionable with strict door policy, though guest list is usually not required. Two bars, one quiet bar with plushy sofas near it and another party bar with a dance floor, DJs etc. Sometimes there will be a separate guest list for the latter. If the door is strict downstairs sometimes you can get in by saying you're staying at the hotel. After that you can get into the bar upstairs, but there's generally another guestlist girl at the second venue in there.

Milk Studios - Chelsea: Gigs, art events, film screenings, fashion parties and afterparties. This is not a club as much as a venue for special events. Look it up on Facebook and and find out how to RSVP to the events they have on to get yourself on the list. They'll sometimes have sponsored booze available, etc.

The Kenmare - Soho: Club on two floors. Top floor has a laid back bar where you can have conversations, downstairs has DJs. It's cavern like with lots of nooks to retreat into and talk to girls, etc. Great crowd on Wednesdays. Young and hip, you'll often meet NYU students in there. Door policy not very strict but still selective.

The Boom Boom Room - Meatpacking: the Top of the Standard mentioned earlier turns into the Boom Boom Room at 10-11pm on some days. It's usually guestlist only but free to get in. You may be able to get yourself on the list by calling ahead or get in by bringing hot girls. Well turned out crowd, very good ratio (helped by that gay dudes go there too) and some incredibly hot girls. Incredible roof terrace for smoking and bringing girls for a quiet talk.

High end lounges - these are plentiful in NYC but mostly draw an older crowd. I don't usually approach much here and prefer to use them as date venues.

Lexington Bar & Books - Upper East Side: this is a cigar bar where you can smoke cigarettes indoors (paging gmanifesto). You have to buzz outside to get in but there's no need for a reservation. They have a strict dress code, but if you're wearing at least a shirt and sports jacket you'll be fine. It's an older crowd, a lot of well heeled 40+ guys with young girlfriends. Single women here are mostly older, probably on the prowl for a rich older guy. A lot of couples go here, and because the bar is tucked away at the back there's limited traffic to open. It's pricey, but service is excellent and it's nice being able to smoke inside.

Employees Only - West Village: more a laid back bar than the above. Can be fun on weekdays. Late twenties / early thirties crowd. Pricey but nice atmosphere, excellent cocktail list. There's a long bar to sit at and tables at the back that are ideal for dates.

Auction House - Upper East Side: very laid back place, more of a date venue than a pickup venue, deep red velvet couches, dark lighting and fireplaces. You have to be 25 or over to get in. If you're on the Upper East Side it's a good getaway from the sports bar heavy scene.

Dive Bars / hipster joints - The East Village / Lower East Side really shines when it comes to these. You can walk around 1st st and 1st ave and you'll see plenty of these. It's a good area to start off with some bar hopping or end up when everywhere else is closed. Some places:

Max Fish - LES: grimy, cheap and cheerful. This is known as a skater venue but it attracts it's fair share of of art and fashion girls. Really good, laid back vibe. It has foosball / pool in the back room which gives you good opportunities for opening and doing something fun. Open late and usually has a good vibe. You'll meet some backpacker and aussie girls here too occasionally.

Mehanata Bulgarian Bar - LES: not divey, more of a hipster joint with a Bulgarian theme. Varies a lot. Stay away on weekends, when they charge a cover and the place fills up with an odd weekend crowd. On weekdays it can be a lot of fun. They play Balkan music and attract a varied crowd, including Balkan girls and girls who want to show off their belly dancing. Somewaht pricey. They have shisha too. If you need to get a girl drunk they have a vodka room downstair where you pay 20 bucks for all you can drink high end vodka in a glass freezer for five minutes. A lot of international and Eastern European girls come here, which makes it a good weekday option.

Frat bars - if you want to meet girls fresh out of college surrounded by guys with popped collars this is the way to go. I have limited experience with these but there's a high concentration of them in Murray Hill and the Upper East Side. Brother Jimmy's on the UES is a barbecue joint that turn into rowdy bar at night. The bars on and around St Mark's Place in the East Village also fit in this category and will have plenty of NYU students out.

Dorrian's - Upper East Side: If you feel home surrounded by guys in Nantucket reds and girls in pearl necklaces you'll like this place. Gets going at around midnight most days. I like to roll up around 10 or 11. In winter it's a popular afterparty destination for many of the charity events that go on nearby on the Upper East Side. They monitor the ratio and it will take you a while to get in if you're with a group of guys. But then why would you do that? The dresscode is collared shirts only (includes polo shirts). This is loosely enforced early on but will give you trouble when it's busy. It's open until 3am or 4am most nights, but it becomes quite a cockfest as the night progresses. There are two bars and plenty of seating near the main dancefloor. This is great for isolating. Tuesday night is karaoke night and it's a great night there. This is a place I consistently do well at. Go early if you go on a weekend but really I recommend you avoid on weekends when every horny guy from Murray Hill to 90th Street descends on the to buy the girls drinks.

The Fat Cat - West Village: If you want to meet college students, go here. Big venue with all sorts of games: beer pong, shuffleboard, ping pong, air hockey, etc. There's a big bar, lots of seating. It's $3 to get in, but drinks are cheap. Wander around and chat up people at the tables playing games. Very easy place to open at so if you're struggling with approach anxiety this is a place where, on a busy night, you can easily get in 10 approaches in not too long. Because the place is big it won't look too weird when you move around the place. If you're with a friend get a pool table somewhere central and use that as your base to approach from / invite girls to your table, etc.

Promoter driven clubs - NYC nightlife is full of these. Some of the places listed above partially fall into the category except they usually don't charge a cover. I refuse to pay $20 entry to be surrounded by meatheads and eurotrash. These are your 'bottles and models' venues so I stay away from them. Their one redeeming feature is that you'll find a higher than average concentration of hot girls but not worth the money, the hassle, inflated egos and poor ratios. I know guys who do well on this circuit, but it's only when they've become well known on the scene (ie. promoters hook them up, intro them to girls, etc.) and drop a lot of cash on bottles. There are definitely easier targets out there.

Caligula's New York Data Sheet

Good overview, right on with Union Square and the models.

On the weekends people come in to the city from all over. One trick is that some of the girls took the train in and really don't want to or plan to take the train back in the am. These girls are easy pickings. The flip side is that something is happening Monday-Thursday too. I've done better with the first half of the week.

Its also worth noting that there are underground parties that let in 18-20 year olds, that may be helpful if your in your early to mid 20s. Do your own research to find them. (haha, and I'm pretty sure the bottle service clubs are doing this with models)

Guys that are really good here put just about everyone else to shame, there is never shortage of girls.

Hah I wouldn't be surprised if they did this.

Any tips on where to start looking for these underground parties?

Hey Caligula,

Is it any problem to bring a girl back to a place that you rented off AirBnB? I noticed that most of the places in NYC are shared rooms and I wonder if hosts disallow ONS's.

They have.

And always will. (Unless "police state" California influence continues).

Great sheet by the way.

Just checked The Standard for rates.

Looks like starting at about $525 per night.

Caligula, didn't you do an NYC sheet a while back?

I was checking and couldn't seem to find it.

Comes down to where you're staying and who you're staying with. I've never done couchsurfing, but AirBnB seems to be similar in that way.

I've only stayed at places on there where I had my own entrance, own room, etc. Essentially like a short term apartment rental. AirBnB hosts don't seem to care much about what you do as long as you're not bringing people back for a party. If you keep it discreet you should be fine; make sure you choose somewhere that looks likely to be fine with it.

This is my previous (less detailed) breakdown: http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-932-po...l#pid67676

Surprised about the rates you're seeing at the Standard. Last time I stayed there I was paying $350 / night. Either they've upped their prices or they're more expensive on weekends.

Similar places are the Ace Hotel and the Bowery Hotel. Both lively, with good rooms and conveniently located.

Caligula's New York Data Sheet

Here is my 3 day trip report to NYC, A Bundle of thanks to Caligula and Parlay and a virtual + 1 for all the golden info...

Caligula's info is spot on as provided in this thread and another one here..

http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-8-page-2.html

I will add to furthur the existing data.

Accomodation: I stayed in EV, which I think is ideal for both night and day game.

Day Game: I concentrated on Tourist chicks in Central Park the first day and got numbers from a japanese student from Montreal visiting her friend in NYC and also a chinese student from LA.

I somehow fare well with Foriegn chicas, I had a good set with a girl from Sweden, two girls from Germany and loads of Girls from England.

Union Square:Great for day Game, Can literally pick any kind of target one likes.

Brooklyn Bridge: Same Tourist chicks , my default opener was how long does it take to go to brroklyn and come back , got a number from a Russian chica that I met in East Village while sarging with Parlay...
she wants to meet today and I have already left NYC.... Oh well will send her parlays way [Image: smile.gif]

Night Game: Like parlay said sun goes down, bitch shields go up, tons of lookers in EV, just stroll around St. marks place and open sets on the streets is a better option rather then going to night venues IMO.

I had a date pipelined for a night that I applied Tuth's Recipe to, here is the report on that

http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-8681-page-6.html

Two places woth mentioning for night game are Bulgarian bar and Gallery Bar in LES,

Bulgarian bar had lots of stunners, I spitted game at the smoking hot bartender, she had my blood boiling , we bantered for soem time but no dice....

Gallery Bar has tons of lookers but no one DTF or ready to leave as e-mech puts it.....

Glad you could verify that the Gallery has a lot of lookers there and that it wasn't just the night that I went there.

That's a fun place to go.

I think a few good spots to spit day game is right around the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden. MSG is right above Penn Station, which is probably the busiest area due to all the commuters in and out of the city. The place is always busy and there are always cute girls around in every which direction you could look.

Huge cosign on the Jane Hotel bar. I went there last Saturday, decided to do a spontaneous trip to the city and only had 2 hours to put in work. Every place in the village had long lines but Jane didn't have a single person. I was with 3 others guys, not the best dressed and they still let us in. Great ratio, sexy girls and $12 drinks. Highly recommended.

Nice data sheet. I too really like that Beer Bar at the Standard always had a good time there and good beers on tap, and you're also close to Meatpacking and the Village so can get around easy down there. Some of my favorite beer bars are Lorelay in the LES and Radegast in Williamsburg....but just for good beer not much else.

Wondering about a few older places as it's been awhile since I lived in NYC and things change so rapidly. Probably dating myself a bit, but what about the following hangouts, any good (or bad) now or have you been lately (or still there? [Image: smile.gif])

Ace Hotel
230 (roof deck bar)
Schillers Liquor Bar
Merc Bar
Pravda (used to be really good awhile back, no longer I bet)
Happy Ending

I used to love Soho Grand and had a lot of good times there, nice to see it's still going strong.

Finally, re day game, Brooklyn Bridge always seemed like a pretty good spot for me. Wondering if you can you now work the elevated subway line park near Meatpacking on the West Side maybe too? That's a cool little park, and nice walkway - worth a visit regardless of the pickup potential.

Thx.
