Girl films video of iPhone X, gets dad (Apple engineer) fired.

Her dad, a long time Apple engineer, had a pre-release version of the iPhone X at home with him, one with features and software not intended for public release (probably for testing and evaluation, etc.) He let his daughter play with it and make a video, and was fired not long after its posting.

I'm immediately thinking damn, it's an unfortunate situation where his six or seven year old daughter got a hold of the phone for a few minutes while he wasn't looking and made a video, totally unaware of the circumstances of her dad's employment or the experimental nature of the device with which he was entrusted. Turns out its an idiot dad pedastalizing his chubby college aged broad with a serious case of last child syndrome and a bad bleach job. He let her play with the pre-release phone while he and mom takes her shopping to buy more stupid shit for her place, the rent for which he's probably sponsoring.

Well, Apple understandably got pissed and handed dad his pink slip for egregiously violating the terms of his employment. Merely filming on the campus is prohibited, not just the part about sneaking videos of new products like the iPhone X (right around the 3:00 mark). Surely the dumbass knew this....

Once dad got canned, she released a "mea culpa" video, where she only continues the self promotion and talks about how wonderful her dad was about taking full responsibility. It never occurs to her she ought to be shouldering a bit of that too, but whatevs, she's a youtube star now:

This video is a case study in what's gone wrong with American women, mentally and physically. Entitlement, vapidness, gluttony, materialism - all rolled into one.

She disabled the likes, dislikes and comments on her explanation/crocodile tears video.

The guy makes living developing vanity products, whom responsible parents keep off their children as long as possible. Vanity products that have ruined so many personalities and lives. He didn't have the wisdom to keep the poison he is making off his own children. He was a believer in shallowness and technocratic feminism. Got what he deserved.

I think it's supposed to be like that. Whatever you do, don't break it - super expensive to fix.

It's unfathomable to me that people make videos like that. The narcissism is completely off the charts. You video your entire (mundane) day and then carefully edit it and set it to music and put it on YouTube? It's obvious from the style of the video that she thinks herself the star of her own reality television show. It's just bizarre. What is wrong with these people? How much attention-whoring can people possibly engage in without any self-reflection whatsoever?

Social media honestly might be the most destructive force currently at play in the West. Which is really saying something. But it's unbelievable how quickly and readily social media corrupts young people (especially women) and turns them into narcissistic, attention-whoring drones who literally have no concept of a true identity. When you are constantly anxious about what others think about you, it's impossible to build real self-esteem (hence the constant push to preserve peoples' sensitive feelings), the only thing that matters is how you appear to other people. Everything is facade. There's no inner reality, no sense of being a person independent of the judgment of one's peers. These people don't actually exist in the normal human manner. Rather, they inhabit a pseudo-reality created in their mind based entirely on the perceptions of those who view them. They become disconnected from engaging in the real world and living in the present moment, and their focus shifts to carefully curating a social media image that exists independent of their actual reality. In other words, social media is literally making people insane.

Social media is just a vehicle that one can use to create whatever type of message you want to send.

The vast majority of people, 99%, are consumers and think that putting their everyday lives is good enough.

The other minority, the 1% use social media as a vehicle to deliver their message. If they use social media to serve others they will make a positive impact.

They are a lot of people that use social media for good.

It's like a mirror that reflects one's self. If they want to serve and give value social media is a powerful good.

This reminds me of the discussion of Don Draper in the Harvey Weinstein thread. Paracelsus posted a quote from The Last Psychiatrist on Draper's character, saying the character is explicitly all a front, meaning the guy in the story actually has falsely assumed the name and persona of Don Draper, and his whole life is just a front, pretending to be the person everyone sees him to be. Preserving this false persona is actually his number one priority, above health, career, and relationships. TLP says this is a textbook case of how a narcissist lives their lives.

This girl and her video sure looks like an example of this.

On a separate note, I advanced to the 3:00 mark to see the phone (couldn't stand to watch the whole thing) and before they got to the iPhone, they showed her knock back the better part of a whole medium pizza by herself. No wonder she's so fat.

Final point: the dad was right there as she videoed the iPhone X. He may have thought she'd have enough sense not to post that part online, but he violated his contract even letting her video it at all, and he certainly knew it.

Dumb cunt, and dumb dad. Oh, and WNB!

Mind if I steal or paraphrase your quote? Because that is one hell of an eloquent indictment - social media and its effects distilled to its rotten core.

I would expect a little more discipline and self awareness from a six or a seven year old girl, and that's just really, really sad.

Thank goodness I do not own an Apple product. AT. ALL. Speaking for myself, a lot of the iPhone owners I personally met more than often fit the "Apple owner = NO CRITICAL THINKING" mold.

Thanks, moron, for perpetuating the dumb blonde stereotype.

There is so much to say about that video.

What strikes one first and foremost is the intense pastoral beauty of each and every Silicon Valley setting -- the achieved and utterly taken for granted luxuriousness of every verdant vista, every suburban mall and promenade, every roomy store appointed just so. The airiness and light of the Californian house of today with its endless, sleek and somehow weightless and uncluttered trinkets; the speedy and comfortable car sliding through the freeways, the post-new-age smoothness and solemnity of the Apple campus, the unthinkable abundance of food in the cafeteria, the family sized pizza pie served up by the white Californian dude who works there; the bright and ingenuous miracle of engineering casually offered up for our review and appraisal.

We are sated by these visions of paradise but it is a reality that transcends all fairy tale -- far surpassing the fondest fantasies of human beings from the not-so-distant past. If such a human being from the past were transported at once into this heavenly vision, he would be left standing there, too stunned for tears. He would fall silent.

All this bounty has been created -- not by the whim of deity, but by years and years adding up to decades and centuries of meticulous toil of men exactly like that father, the engineer; and it has been built purposely for the enjoyment and consumption of creatures like that daughter -- who, incidentally, embodies the concept of the BASIC BITCH perhaps more completely than any female that has ever walked the earth. It is fitting to see that the father had to lose his job for this video to see the light of day; it is as if, after all his years of labor, he had to make the ultimate sacrifice -- the final renunciation of the hapless daddy-of-his-daughter -- so that the basic bitch princess might not only enjoy the fruits of his work, but blithely and shruggingly tell the forbidden tale. It's good to see things line up so perfectly -- it's good to see and to nod; to understand.

Taking everything good in her life for granted, nitpicking what isn't perfect, and attention whoring without a thought about the consequences for herself or others, she is a perfectly designed girl of the future.

We laugh at the *Sovereign Citizens* !!!, but they are our future, the perfectly designed propaganda units, feeling like kings and queens right up until the moment they are herded into the gas showers of the future.

She is just a prototype.

This is why I won't raise my children to simply enjoy life - I will raise to understand duty and servitude.

The home I provide them - with as much beauty as my wife and I can manage - will be something they work on as well. Not a dwelling maintained by servants, but earned through the diligent chore-performing of all those who are present.

Duty and servitude are how we make ourselves, and the world, better. A life without struggle is not worth living.
