D'angelo returns

all I can say is holy sh*t at these new songs.

It took over ten years for him to come back out, but I really hope he doesn't sit on this new record much longer.

This is great news, and a long time coming. He had totally bottomed out on a personal level. Physically he had gotten fat, and was in trouble with the law. He was even in a pretty serious auto accident. His first two albums were some of the best contemporary R&B/Soul out there.

We'll see. I've been hearing about his "return" for the last 12 years. Hoping to see the man finally return this year. But if I had a dime for every time I heard his new album was about to drop. I was like damn, Tupac will come back before D'Angelo does.

Jesus.

What is this world coming to when people know a two-bit pick up artist huckster better than the greatest soulman of the last 20 years?

Hell, you will probably swoop twice as many girls by just hanging out with them and popping on D'Angelo records than you will be reading everything that pua guy wrote 20 times.

I somehow knew he was coming back. Same with Maxwell. Just about everyone I knew said dude was washed up, then he came out the woodwork with the classic panty dropper, Pretty Wings. Perfect timing for me. That was a great summer.

Ahem, the tickets to his shows overseas are quite cheap from what i've been told. One of my siblings told me that his show in Amsterdam is only $60 USD per tick, if thats the case this is a good opportunity to make a little extra $$. You know when he does his London and Paris show's they'll be sick as f*ck.

It's funny you bring that up, the thing that parallels both is that they have a few of the same musicians backing them up in their live and studio recordings (i.e Chris Dave).

hah Actually that two bit wannabe pickup artist fucked up my "game" years ago. I went from being naturally cocky to just an all out asshole which disastrous results.

I'm gonna guess that D'Angelo the musician isn't my kind of artist. I'm a hard rock kinda guy. Although I am sure broadening my musical tastes would be beneficial in picking up broads, I don't see it happening.

What always impressed me about D'Angelo (and Anthony Hamilton now) is that they're young contemporary artists that feel and sound old-school, when REAL R&B/Soul was being made. They're throwbacks. I prefer my R&B on the gritty side, and these guys fit the bill. Jaheim is also pretty good, and I liked Maxwell's first couple of albums, then they started getting redundant.

Have you ever got into Dwele? He held me over after the disappearance of D'Angelo. This is one of my fav cuts off his 2nd album.

Dude even laid down some smooth shit for a McDonald's commercial of all things.

Check out Allen Stone, he's on the come up. Multi instrumentalist and dope performer as well.

I agree on Dwele, sometimes his songs can get a bit redundant for me but his last album was good.

Not a big fan of D'Angelo, Anthony Hamilton, etc. All that r&b sounds the same to me. But Ronnie Spencer...man. What y'all know about Ronnie? This is the shit Houston puts on when he's feeling a little extra freaky [Image: whip.gif]
