An anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim party won the Austrian elections on Sunday, and its leader might form a government with a party founded by ex-Nazis.

Do they really want to go there? In Germany many high profile post WW2 politicians previously were NSDAP members. It's time this receives a bit more public attention, especially since the Left is so eager to dig up dirt.

Let's see what happen. The FPÖ was leading before Kurz changed the ÖVP into a popular direction. He now take all the topics that the FPÖ talks as well. Let's see what he will do, because keep in mind, he is in politics since 7 years, was in the government of the ÖVP and the SPÖ, the Social democrats and the peoples party. He is or was also foreign minister. In the past he didn't do anything against Islam.
Maybe it was because he hadn't the power, who knows. Its also a joke that again Germany call it a right wing shift. Its not about right and left, this is some elite and media nonsense to separate the people. When you use common sense that is against the elite goals you are automatic right. The FPÖ, they call it the more nationalist party, had be in the government in the 2000s already. Germany and the EU made then some ban on Austria!

I'm sorry, it's quite ridiculous to say that Kurz didn't do anything about Islam, do you really live in Austria? He proposed the Islamgesetz, though it didn't pass in full. He dealt harshly with Turkey after the attempted coup. He had the 50 point plan. He argued within the EU for more control of the migrants.

There's only so much you can do as the the foreign minister of a tiny irrelevant country, but he has showed action and political shrewdness to actually get power and pass effective measures within Austria.

Kurz is, like Lindner, an opportunist who will shift his policies in whatever direction needed to gain power. Still a better candidate than anyone we have in Germany.

Kurz spearheaded the successful closure of the entire Balkan route for migrants. It's possible he could flip, but given that he has substantive achievements like the one I just mentioned coupled with the fact he's probably going to form a coalition with what would probably be the most right-wing party in Western Europe with any kind of power, I'd say we should at least give him the benefit of the doubt.

What are people's opinion on someone so young having this power? Most of our leaders throughout human history have been much older -
is there possibly a good reason for that?

Someone this young climbing this high can only have been a career politician, with no experience in the world outside politics. Is this a good or a bad thing?

Don't hold your breath. Kurz will do whatever his masters tell him to do. The reason why they even changed the direction of the OVP party was because of the massive support that the FPO gets. And I might remind everyone - Austria still gets rapefugees flowing in at levels very close to Sweden! You get 50.000-80.000 per year anyway and the replacement population will usher in a new darkness in the once peaceful prosperous country.

Kurz won, because he changed the policies or was told to do so from above. The reason for this is the very Austrian people who at least are strongly opposed towards the madness. Many other countries like Germany, UK or Sweden are far more brainwashed.

That is why I said that the group consciousness of a people matters and their willingness to even vote for supposed "Nazis". That is why Trump won.

However what it will do remains to be seen. Even the Brexit vote did not slow the immigration much from the third world countries. Yeah - you may say that it slowed, but that is only because the more highly performing more fitting Poles are fleeing the UK to Germany or back to Poland. The UK gets 200.000+ per year of unfitting immigrants.

In any case - Kurz likely comes from a highly connected wealthy family - there are still scores of them in Austria. But keep in mind - he is not in charge - no politician in the EU is. They can best alleviate some major excesses. I did not see him joining the Eastern European anti-migrant coalition. It is mostly words and dumb crap that even Merkel has proposed regarding the Burka-ban. Yeah - ban the Burka which 0,0001% wear, but let in millions more of them.

But I guess the ruse worked - they put a "Whizzkid" in charge (gave him a job with limited power) and appeared to be more shitlordian than they truly are. Thus they prevented the FPO from reaching 40%+ of the votes. What they don't want is the FPO getting even 50% one day and ruling fully. Because that party may indeed do crazy stuff - for example sane stuff like leaving the fucking EU and re-erecting the old borders - and then ousting 300.000+ future Jihadists and their mothers.

His age is a gimmick. Young men like that are never allowed to rise as fast as that unless they are obedient servants of the elite - at least in our times. Ability-wise and intelligence it does not matter, but life experiences are rather scarce for a man in his 20s. But as I said - it won't matter much. Whether he is 42 or 26 is irrelevant since he is working for the same Big Boys.

Is this true? Augustus was 36. The oldest Portuguese monarch to accede to power was 35. More than half of the British monarchs acceded before they were 30. Charlemagne was 26. Maria Theresia 23 and Franz Josef 28.

I think it's democracy that is sceptical of younger leaders, but it is a very recent trend.

Yes, but other than Augustus and Charlemagne those positions were all inherited, and big responsibilities, along with involvement in the economy and war, started much earlier during those days. Also, life expectancy was shorter.

I stop the talk here...

Regarding global politics, Austria is indeed both tiny and irrelevant.
