Having just read the Youtube censorship thread, I wanted to get a thread started here on RVF regarding the problems in the tech industry that we face as men, or as anyone who cares about individual liberty and defeating leftist SJW thugs.

To that end, Pax Dickenson wrote an excellent primer on what he is dubbing "alt-tech":

Bitcoin promises to democratize this but still lacks the penetration to make it a viable solution on its own. ▸ PayPal and Stripe have denied services to both individual fundraisers and crowdfunding platforms. There are no known viable alternatives that are open to use by right- wing activists or sympathizers.

That market is generally healthy and competitive. ▸ Hiding webservers behind inexpensive front-end proxies is easy to do, when the company hosting the proxy is pressured, only the proxy needs to be moved while our main infrastructure is hosted by a company unknown to attackers. ▸ Hosting makes sense as a product for the sake of offering a complete solution but in itself is not necessary to address.

Here are my thoughts on alt-tech:

1. It is essential to create a funding source for an alt-tech venture capital group. We don't need billions upon billions of dollars. What we need is enough seed money to bring products to markets that are underserved by leftist SJW companies like Goolag.
2. We need a Super PAC that puts pressure on Washington D.C. to trust bust existing leftist monopolies abusing the internet through censorship, firing people from their jobs without cause and other forms of retaliation.
3. We need idea incubators for alt-tech open source projects that support men in the tech industry building great products, even those not for profit. For instance, a free-speech commenting system as an alternative to Disqus would be a great replacement for returnofkings.com in case Disqus ever started to purge Roosh's system.
4. Payment systems and alternative currencies are ripe for disruption. Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX have all dominated the scene for so long and have brought only nominal improvements to the marketplace. They thrive off of abusing their default status in the marketplace. Blockchain and crypto currencies are critical to the success of alt-tech. For example: The vast majority of us have checking accounts with ACH debit or deposit as an option. An alt-tech BitCoin (Little Dark Coin 2.0?) (Ok, there's probably a better name out there) could serve as a conduit for masking financial support of "wrong think". Take your standard US Dollars or Euros and convert them into crypto. From there, fund Roosh, Pax or some other alt-tech personality or venture capital group that supports alt-tech. Right now, Roosh had his PayPal shut down. In the future, for any bank or currency exchange that supports transfers into crypto currencies will immediately cut off an avenue of censorship.
5. Stop using all forms of SJW websites (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) except to promote their free-speech alternatives such as gab.ai, minds.com etc. Use their own systems against them, but also block all their ads and ruthlessly self-promote alt-tech alternatives. If they ban you, so be it. Convert who you can while you're still on the platform and consider your eventual ban a mark of pride.
6. Roosh, please consider adding a sub-forum to RVF that can be a place to bounce ideas around as it relates to alt-tech. For example: Let's say that two or three of us RVF members have experience with Linux hosting and want to create a shared web hosting service dedicated to free speech. That kind of discussion to gauge interest and connect people with the needed skill sets or funding can be brought together to get these needed projects launched.
7. Bring the discussion offline. Talk to other men about alt-tech and the importance it will play for the future of human liberty and individual rights. The US Constitution was written by men that would have supported an alt-tech movement if they were alive today. Carry the torch that was passed on to us by our forefathers.

Vox is one of many that are leading the way in forking key parts of the internet that are opensource.

Great post by the OP and excellent responses. I don't have much to add but would like to affirm that this is an awesome thread. Alt-Tech could turn into something truly amazing and if done right may wind up displacing the current Marxist Silicon Valley monopoly. I'm highly technical (coded for over 30 years) and own my own firm which also happens to be location independent and relatively resilient against doxing or SJW pressures. I actually anticipated the current phase many years ago and decided to extract myself out of the 'system' as much as possible. However even my setup may one day fall prey to a denial of DNS services as it's currently impossible to run a public server without that (yes, there are ways but they are extremely limiting).

So we need a technical solution which bypasses the current DNS network. Perhaps a self healing resilient network of tunnels which rides on top of the existing Internet and thus permits an alternate type of existence. I'm not talking about a handful of servers here but thousands.

Or alternatively we need an alternate addressing scheme paired with an HTTP type protocol which can be used in a special browser. Think about it, just by altering the addressing scheme and the protocol a public domain browser like Firefox could be hacked to access sites/services which are being suppressed via existing protocols. Remember that routers only see packets.

By the way this is nothing new. The Tor project and the onion router work just like that. But we need something faster and a bit more slicker as Tor never made it beyond a niche group of adopters.

I'm not sure that a Dark Web 2.0 is what we want to be aiming for. Remember, the average user isn't a techie that can be bothered with Tor and alternative connection methods. It is imperative that we are visible and making a public stand for the Internet As We Know It.

With your own firm, have you thought about launching an alt-tech venture of sorts, even if you create a separate entity to protect your primary business? If you have the manpower and know-how, there are certainly a number of ideas that I think could be money makers as well supporting a good cause. PM me if you would rather talk about it in private.

The key factor is that the technology in question needs to be resistant to centralization. If that is achieved, then it is effectively impossible for any central authority to block them off as we have now.

Yes, endpoint-to-endpoint networks that are secure and built with privacy from the ground up are essential. That being said, we all still rely on two existing factors that cannot easily be mitigated:

1. ISP access

ISP's, for the most part, especially in the United States have resisted any efforts to block individual websites from their services. If you have the "dumb" pipe, you can access it. In other parts of the world, governments and NGO's have pressured ISPs to block "hate speech" if that "hate speech" goes against the globalist/leftist narrative.

2. DNS access

Domain services, especially if pressured by left-wing groups are already under attack. Don't like someone? Call their domain registrar and tell them they are hosting a Nazi. Now their domain is locked and can't get transferred. We need legal action to be taken against domain registrars who block transfer or freeze accounts of domains that are NOT BEING USED FOR ILLEGAL PURPOSES.

Free-speech advocates must start suing registrars who freeze accounts and hold domains hostage for political reasons. Counter.fund might be an excellent place to start such a campaign once launched. Registrars need to defend any domain freeze as based in breaking the law, not offending SJWs.

While I think it certainly doesn't hurt to consider "alternative web" solutions, there's still plenty of internet freedom out there in the United States that needs defending. Easy of access of the current system is what brings a message to a mass audience.

We need to keep that access open and fight for every inch of it, and only use "alternative web" as a fallback in case we lose the first fight. "Alternative web" should be a secondary consideration, because it also makes it easier to brand it as "Dark Web 2.0" where only the mean, scary people hang out. We need the Web As We Know It to stay intact.

Either you launch an alternative subnet of sorts or you remain dependent on the existing infrastructure which is mostly owned by a conglomerate of corporations. It's not 1990 anymore where a lot of the infrastructure was run by DARPA and various educational organizations. I remember those days well and in some respect I do miss those innocent early years when everything seemed possible and Pandora's box had not yet sprung open (i.e. Facebook and the rest of the social media ilk).

The model that needs to be followed IMO is that of open source public domain software with a strong focus on absolute neutrality and strict abidance to the bill of rights. Trust me when I tell you that there are literally tens of thousands of frustrated alt-right friendly engineers just waiting for an opportunity to donate their time and energy to such a project.

These should be our four main goals going forward:

1) To attract the engineering talent.
2) Define the overall vision and main goals of the project.
3) Enable contributors to participate and meet small iterative milestones.
4) Most important of all: INSPIRE people. We need to clearly define our vision and how it stands in contrast of where the Internet is currently heading.

A couple of observations that came out of the TDS censorship story

Bitmitigate stepped up and offered DDOS protection after Cloudfare pulled out - seems like a service dedicated to neutrality
Protonmail deleted one of the TDS contributors. Proton mail has a good model for privacy and security so its probably a good option if you keep a low profile. If you're public and controversial, you'll need another option.
Weev is saying that Cisco/OpenDNS are censoring the TDS domain preventing 2% of internet users from accessing the site - not being in tech I don't really know what that means or how they're doing it, just reporting in.

Someone I know was telling me that everything needed to be decentralized, peer-to-peer, and use blockchain technology like what zeronet is trying to do. Basically create a scenario where censorship was impossible even if it was desired. Not being technical, I'm not sure if he's right - is that kind of what you're referring to?

All good ideas. I think it starts with pushing an alt-tech conversation into existing platforms like faceborg and twatter. Once enough people are aware of alternative methods of connecting, let them ban the rest of our accounts on those platforms. The more people they ban, the harder it is to deny the censorship, but the bannings also can be used to increase alternative platform membership.

You can still use a whitelist for OpenDNS to whitelist domains that are flagged as "hate", providing you are a network admin who used OpenDNS on your router. I use OpenDNS at my home because it helps block malware sites. Rooshvforum.com is blocked as a "porn and/or hate" site as I recall. No problem, I'm still able to whitelist it and have no problem accessing Roosh. If someone knows of an alternative to OpenDNS, I'm all ears.

One more alternative I forgot to mention earlier: https://2ndvote.com/ (A website dedicated to listing good and bad companies that support different conservative or leftist causes. They also have a mobile app. Now you know who to support and who to boycott.)

Know yourself. The list below is a start. Realize its not just using them but providing feedback to make this tech better. Also, you shouldnt just use "Youtube lite" or "Google-alt". Someone had mentioned protonmail and up to this point they are not at all like GMail plus you may have to pay for the service (the free tier doesnt allow for a lot of space). Weed out the bad tech and the turncoats who may shadowban. Help the development on duckduckgo for instance (all the techies out there). And share with everyone good reasonable alternatives.

We know who the enemy is but sometimes we aren't sure what the focus should be in fighting. This may be hard to swallow but we should not boycott. We should still use their shit to know how they work...how they play. Although everyone should stay off of Facebook.....You have to know how Google and Gmail works to know how they can be replaced. What are the best reasonable alternatives to Amazon? Use their product to start....

Another pressure point would be pointed towards investors. Make a big stink that censorship decreases new and active user bases, drives down engagement and reduces platform loyalty and revenue. If every man here could convince at least 10 other people to find alternatives, and have those ten people find ten more people, we could make a serious dent into their user bases. The key is having ready knowledge of alternatives. It isn't enough to say "twitter censorship sucks". You need to link them to http://www.gab.ai. Do this for enough people and the investors will start to question the wisdom of the SJW censorship. Investors may pay lip service to SJW ethos, but when the bottom line starts hurting, we'll see a reduction of this nonsense.
