Have you guys been to Fuerteventura? It was one of those island that had always been on my traveling plan but had somehow never visited. But after reading other article makes me more willing to do some last minute changes on my travel list. They say that the waves in Costa calma and Playa de Sotavento would make a perfect for surfers and many water activities. And if your not into some water action I'm very sure that theirs a lot more to do in this fine island.
Canary Islands Fuerteventura
I've been to a few Canary Islands but not that one. You can get cheap transatlantic "repositioning" cruises twice a year. I try to always book one with a stop in either the Canaries or Azures. Otherwise it's boring 10-15 days at sea.
Best waves are in the north of Fuerteventura during winter, but not for beginners
You can also surf well in Playa de las Americas and party, because nightlife is poor in Fuerteventura
Also Gran Canaria has waves but more in the north and sometimes near the lighthouse in Playa de las americas, and is def the best island for nightlife all year long

I am also interested in Fuerteventura. Im an avid spearfisherman and freediver. I love the ocean. What draws me to this island is remote uncrowded beaches and dynamic reefs to hunt for groupers. Ive made the decision to spend a year in the canaries starting in sept. Im considering Teneriffe, Gran Canaria or Fueteventura.
I need a solid broadband internet connection for work and business. Ive noticed there is a jiu jitsu gym in correlello. Im not into wild nightlife anymore. , beach bars are more my style. Remote beaches to camp on dynamic reefs for spearfishing, id like to learn to surf and windsurf. etc.
Anyone that has experience in the Canaries.. Feel free to reach out.

Been 2 or 3 times to the Canaries, that was years ago. Only been to Tenerife, La Gomera and Lanzarote. I liked Lanzarote, I went there with a girlfriend so didn't do any gaming. I really like the weather in the Canaries, it's very cheap over there (different tax system than mainland Spain), good food, Spanish and foreign and great beaches everywhere. Great place for outdoor activities and friendly people. Lots of foreigners everywhere. Many flights to Spain and Europe. If you have specific questions I can try to help but bear in mind last time I was there was some years ago.
If you were going to live permanently in the Canaries which island would you choose for a layed back atmosphere away from the tourists but still good infrastructure for Wife, kids and family?
Im headed there in sept and im thinking either Las Palmas Gran Canaria or Corralello Fuerteventura

I never lived in the Canaries, nor spent long periods of time there, I'm not the best person to answer that question. Best infrastructure probably in Tenerife or Gran Canaria since they're the biggest and most populated islands. The Canaries in general are pretty chill, stay away from the main resort towns and you'll be fine.

Tenerife
I would go to Tenerife. Most of the island is pretty boring though.
