Africa: Hidden Gem or Lost Cause?

Separating sub-saharan Africa into east and west is the only relevant distinction.

Most of Africa is desert anyway.

Probably has a ton of potential, but also will take a lot of work, money, and risk

I love me some Ethiopian and Eritrean girls.

I was in Addis Ababa two weeks ago.
I met one cute Eritrean girl at the airport. We had a very long chat about random things, but unfortunately she was married, and I am not a home-wrecker.

Are girls like that the norm in Ethiopia or Eritria?

It depends where you go, I guess. In Addis Ababa, girls like that are quite common (in the right places).

I was at a club called The Republic on a Saturday night, and at least half the girls in there looked like this and better.
Fine faces, perfectly sculpted feminine bodies with a bubble butt. What more can a man want?

This thread title just reeks of silliness. Africa is a vast, vast place. That'd be like me saying "Asia: Hidden gem or lost cause."

If you walk into Asia thinking that way, you're gonna be really thrown for a loop as you travel from Taiwan, China to HK; nevermind Japan, Korea, Phils, Vietnam, and other spots.

Perhaps people have skewed perspectives because of how maps are not drawn to scale but continental Africa is fucking huge.

One could devote an entire thread to a single 5 block radius of a borough in NYC, and I'd be happy to read it. That doesn't mean we can't also talk about things on a macro scale. You don't think that there are any general observations that can be made about regions of the earth? I see people contribute productive and helpful generalizations about Latin America, Eastern Europe and SEA all the time on the forum. That doesn't mean that the individual countries (or cities) don't have their own nuances.

But sure, I'll concede I could have chosen a better thread title

At a nice nightclub on a Satuday night girls like that might be common, but what about at a mall on a Tuesday afternoon?

Girls that look like that are from Northern Ethiopia and Eritrea. You could find these girls in Addis Ababa but Addis is a really shitty city and the hot girl ratio can not compare to Eritrea. Eritrea and its capital Asmara would be far better since it has a better hot girl ratio and the city is much cleaner then Addis.

Addis Ababa doesn't really have malls and infrastructure wise it's a very shitty city. A lot of people think African cities are trash in general however this isn't the case. There are nice cities all across Africa like Nairobi, Cape Town, Casablanca etc. however Addis Ababa is not one of the nice cities it really is trash.

I have never been to a mall in Addis Ababa on a Tuesday afternoon (or any afternoon for that matter), so my answer is: I don't know.

If you're smart, you're used to Muslims' habit, and you know what to do, you can go to Marrakesh, Moroccan girls are quite hot.
Anyway it's a difficult place, only for veterans.

Man eritrean girls are hot but personally i find eritrean people kinda colder than ethiopians(In North America). Theres a lot of beef in that region because of the landlocked position of ethiopia. they're very similar people just look into the tribal displacement in asmara but i think they're habesha or at least some. Girls are conservative, but easy, not the smartest and most intellectual people but warm and easy going. I would say in Eritrea its more arab, and in Ethiopia its more Bantu. I would suggest reading the past trip reports on ethiopia and see what its like ive read a few and most guys did well there, if you can cut it in ethiopia you wont have any problems in eritrea. oh yea english proficiency is low so learning some arabic or tigrinya before you go would help greatly.

With the bases loaded all we needs a hit boy ima still swing for the fences, I guess you tend to over do it, when you come up under-privileged

Africa: Hidden Gem or Lost Cause?

Africa was great for my trip, went to East Africa (Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya et al). The girls love white men, I've been to a lot of places and never had it easier than Africa.

Having said that, Africa is about the nature and the beauty. Zanzibar has some of the nicest beaches I've visited and the safaris are crazy good (I say this as someone who didn't expect to like them, was just doing it because it's the thing you do when in Africa).

People are fairly exploitative, if you can't handle kids following you for blocks begging then Africa will break you quickly. The infrastructure is tough at best and non-existent at times, hot water, power, internet and the like are more lucky dip than anything.

I never felt safe or threatened, if that makes sense, in just about any way.

Lot of the women are pros or semi-pros and spotting them is hard work because the women are super forward anyway, they'll just walk up to you and open you if they're interested which in most cultures is pretty much how you detect the working girls. I didn't find the working girls to be too persistent which is always nice when they proposition and then leave when you tell them you're not interested. Great mix of women, tall, short, thick, thin and the like but I generally don't find the facial structures as attractive as some other cultures and there is definitely a lot of girls I'd consider overweight (as someone who likes thin girls).

It's interesting that it's kind of expensive, they rely on tourism and they tend to exploit it as hard as they can, you'll be haggling on everything or getting taken for a ride, the safari I ended up doing cost 10% as much as some of the other offers and 30% of what they originally wanted even, accommodation of any decent quality tends to be hard to find and there is no real backpacker circuit like in SA or Asia which takes that option out of play to a large extent (this is probably better in the more developed North or South African areas, don't know). Food is dirt cheap, drinks are cheap for the local beers/spirits and can get expensive for the imported stuff.

Certainly not for the faint of heart but for any experienced traveler it's very manageable and it's a great experience.
