Big difference between homeless african migrants and latin americans.

Most of the homeless people in paris are white or arab. African migrants are usually in assisted housing in Paris.

Your chances of getting mugged in Latin america is about 100 times higher then near the Sacre Coeur. Clearly youve never been to the sacre Coeur anytime recently. Other then Louvre and the Eiffel tower its probably the most touristy place in the whole city.

I think its ok to go to Sacre Coeur during the day for sure. But me personally I wouldn't want to be there at night. I can imagine it gets much more seedier at night especially with Moulin Rouge nearby xD. I also saw some broken windows at shops in the area and a fast-food chain with broken windows as well.

I was just listening to the french news, this actually happened in a suburb which is very far from Paris. It is in Seine et Marne, which is around 60 km from Paris.

The police is for the moment saying that it is not a terror attack but some kind of depressed guy who tried to suicide last week but failed, he is at the police office at the moment...

Paris isn't Bagdad guys, plenty of tourists are still coming.

Some of you mentioned Saint Denis, why on earth would you go there??? It is a shitty neighborhood full of illegal migrants. Don't book a hotel there even if it's cheap.

If you visit Paris do yourself a favor and stay in a nice hotel in a nice neighborhood, I also wouldn't recommend to stay near Pigalle or in the North in general, there are plenty of bars but it gets dodgy late at night. Also never go in the strip clubs which are around Pigalle, You will be ripped off and might be beaten if you refuse to pay the bill of x hundreds euros that they will try to charge you.

Left Bank all the way. The nightlife on the side streets around Saint-Germain was reliably full of good-looking girls and I had a few spontaneously chat me up in bars, just starry-eyed to be in Paris.

Had one bomb scare, but it was a non-issue out of an abundance of caution, some genius left a baby stroller unattended. Everyone was calmly asked to leave, did so, and that was that.

I spent a lot of time in Paris because of my job and I never want to go back. Never got mugged or anything like that but in my book the city ranks near the bottom of European capitals. It's the dirtiest city I've been to with rats as big as dogs roaming the streets at night (next to the Eiffel tower mind you), hordes of Africans, Arabs and tourists, shit nightlife spread all over the city (no real center), overpriced, cold. I have no idea where you guys come up with this bullshit about French girls having a sense of style, they really love their jeans and track pants. In fact, the French guys dress much better then the girls. My work colleague, a beautiful tall blonde with green eyes was scared to go out alone because she was constantly harassed by shady guys asking her where she's from, does she speak French etc.

If you're into history and architecture Paris can be a good destination for about a week. Personally I find the Eiffel Tower hideous but there are many other places to visit. Versailles shouldn't be missed. Tier 2 cities like Lyon or Bordeaux are much better.

Security wise you're not running any bigger risk in Paris than in any major US city. Don't take travel advice from people braking out in cold sweat at the thought of crossing a state line.

With that said, why would you want to go to Paris? As a cultural destination the city is superb but that's about it. Lyon is better for food, the Med coast better for banging/partying and business can be more readily in the cities closer to Benelux/German border. French people are generally a good bunch, but Parisians not so much. You're better off visiting just about any other part of France if you want a genuine experience.

I'm glad that I went to Paris in 2014 before all those shit that is happening. The city was amazing. Very beautiful.

Unfortunately the bars that I went were very empty. I dunno why. So I won't recommend anything for game. Tinder worked like a charm but that was ages ago.

I'd not come back those days for security reason.

Ive never been to france BUT if you're into food...

LYON is your city...Its only spot on my list as my high end interest in south of france has dwindled over the years.

I'd rather spend time exploring mount blanc solo for outdoors activities than social adventures within france. Paris never really appealed to me other than the 1 off fine dining experience. (In past I did want to experience matignon nightclub as it seemed to have the club vibe I'm used to in NY and LOTS OF GIRLS who fit my type)

If you go to Paris , hit on Corcoran's Irish pub in bastille , its a bar with a decent dancefloor

many stluts , tourists ... people come in and go out even until 3 pm ( it closes 4 or 5 pm i think)

if the bouncer dont know you or you dont have girls , come early , like 10 or before .

In paris , if a place let you enter without girls , except it to be hard , personnaly , i found this place Corcoans bastille as an easy place.

If I were a tourist wanting to visit Paris, I'd wait for the next big false flag terror attack, fewer tourists at sites and cheaper hotels and airfares. That's also true for other places too, well at least in Europe and N. America. Bottom line, don't let the terrorists affect your life, fuck'em.

But yeah, Paris is more for the sites, the food and the shopping, a lot of nice unique non-chain boutiques on the Left Bank, Saint-Honoré, Passy, Neuilly and so forth. But it's also a pretty good place for daygame in museums, cafés, galleries for older dudes like me hitting on late 20s-30s women. American, Chinese, N. and E. European tourists/residents are a lot easier there from my personal experience, part of it is I know the city inside out so I'm always showing them a very good time, and my love for the city is infectious, fish in barrel. The dating sites and experiences are so beautiful and unique that they really overwhelm them, visiting babes just can't resist.

The philosophy here is to use the city as your threesome partner, let the city do its magic.

For younger dudes, Toulouse, Biarritz, Nice (may through september for the beach but good year round), Strasbourg, Rennes and yeah, any number of other second-tier cities. The food is magnificent in Lyon, the culinary capital, but it is also great everywhere else in France, every freakin hamlet.

Same experiences here.
The real side of Paris approaching the city center has hordes of homeless African people sleeping under the bridge and self-proclaimed Syrian refugees seeking assistance.

I went to Paris to tick off a travel bucket list despite being there not long before the Champs-Élysées hit and run car attack.
I wouldn't go back not because of the series of attacks this year but because of the reasons quoted above as I think it's a highly overrated place.

That one Red Pill youtuber got mugged the last time he was there. Well - a bunch of tall African guys surrounded him and forced him to buy a shitty necklace saying: "If you are not racist, then you buy this." Gladly he only had one 20 Euro bill on him - which the guy took out himself.

Watch out where you go in Paris, put on good running shoes, arm yourself, be prepared to fight a mugger, a terrorist, a machete wielder, a truck of peace. Other than that - you can enjoy the city and country.

The reason paris is so expensive is the city is pretty much based on the hospitality industry. And a lot of it is high end. All the top hotels have good properties in paris and business is good. I don't see the shangrila closing anytime soon.
Hence for the budget traveler, paris is out of reach as prices for everything like food or hotels are all inflated in price dueto tourism. If you go to an shitty ibis anywhere in center you will probably pay 100-120 euros normal season, September for example.

Madrid and Barcelona has a lot of tourism too but the prices are much more reasonable.

Was just in Paris for the day yesterday. The airport looked like a bazaar in the Middle East and most places smelled like piss. There are still a few nice neighborhoods with that old French village feel but the demographics have changed quite drastically since I was last there in 2010.

It's an old, obsolete, and overrated radio tower that was supposed to be demolished. Lot of controversy until it became a tourist cash cow. From the Eiffel Tower site itself, with non-sequitur conclusion:

Quote:Quote:

Various pamphlets and articles were published throughout the year of 1886, le 14 février 1887, la protestation des Artistes.

The "Protest against the Tower of Monsieur Eiffel", published in the newspaper Le Temps, is addressed to the World's Fair's director of works, Monsieur Alphand. It is signed by several big names from the world of literature and the arts : Charles Gounod, Guy de Maupassant, Alexandre Dumas junior, François Coppée, Leconte de Lisle, Sully Prudhomme, William Bouguereau, Ernest Meissonier, Victorien Sardou, Charles Garnier and others to whom posterity has been less kind.

Other satirists pushed the violent diatribe even further, hurling insults like : "this truly tragic street lamp" (Léon Bloy), "this belfry skeleton" (Paul Verlaine), "this mast of iron gymnasium apparatus, incomplete, confused and deformed" (François Coppée), "this high and skinny pyramid of iron ladders, this giant ungainly skeleton upon a base that looks built to carry a colossal monument of Cyclops, but which just peters out into a ridiculous thin shape like a factory chimney" (Maupassant), "a half-built factory pipe, a carcass waiting to be fleshed out with freestone or brick, a funnel-shaped grill, a hole-riddled suppository" (Joris-Karl Huysmans). Once the Tower was finished the criticism burnt itself out in the presence of the completed masterpiece, and in the light of the enormous popular success with which it was greeted. It received two million visitors during the World's Fair of 1889.

Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?

I was in Paris 8 years ago for a total of 48 hours ,had a great time. I was with my dad who speaks near fluent French, but yeah it can be grimy. I was harassed by a schizophrenic non native demanding money and yes, I found the city pretty dirty. Overall if you have the money ,sure go. I'm not sure I'd like it again if I went, I did not like Rome and cancelled plans to Istanbul as the cities are too dirty and smelly for me.

For grandiose European cities better go to Vienna,Florence or even Lucerne.

Here's a good tip. If leaving from London look on facebook for Eurostar resale groups.

Q: Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?

A: Yes, go once in your life to see the reality with your own eyes that:
- The fairytale that pop-culture pushes is complete BS.
- Parisien culture is dying due to the demographic genocide by non-French.

For the record I had a great time in Paris (however that's because I enjoy almost every place I visit). Paris is totally over-rated in comparison to other less famous European cities.

I much prefer spending time in the French Alps, this region is truly breath-taking and amazing.

Source: my anecdotal experience as a visitor - visited for 1 week in 2009, and for 1 week in 2015, both times with locals.

Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?

I was in Paris just a few months ago for 5 days. It was the middle of winter, but the weather was warm enough that a simple jacket and scarf was more than enough.

Crowds were massively annoying, but I guess it could have been worse. We managed to get in everywhere we wanted to go.

I would recommend going in the winter or very early spring.

Protips:
1. The Louvre is an expensive, crowded, and over rated museum when compared to the British Museum. The Mona Lisa was a joke. Pretty art and a nice place, but the UK did its trophy cabinet better. The Musee D'orsey is better and more low key.

2. Get to Versailles early and make a day trip of it. The place is f*cking huge and will consume an entire day. Worth it even with the swaths of tourists.

3. Eiffel Tower is better at night and less crowded. The whole thing is a massive security nightmare. The beautiful lawns surrounding the place have chain metal fences everywhere and soldiers in full riot gear. Telling a north african street peddler to f*ck off is an enlivening experience.

4. The catacombs are really cool., BUT make sure you register online ahead of time. You can avoid the line of back packing idiots who line up and never realize you can get your tickets for a specific time. I did this and royally pissed off these american bitches who had "been waiting since 10am" (it was 2pm).

5. Lots of places to walk to. The Arc de Triumph, cool to see. Wouldn't go up in it.

6. There's a cathedral on a hill near the Moulon Rouge whose name escapes me. Also pretty cool. Throngs of tourists but still cool.

7. Notre Dame, very cool inside as well as the "underground" experience. There was a stupid long line to go up to the spires, passed on this. You get better views on the Eiffel Tower.

Watch out for large groups of Africans and anyone brown. Patrols of armed police are fairly regular in and around the city. Like I said earlier, do your best to go on the tourist off season.

Is Paris still worth a visit in 2017?

Paris has a significantly lower murder rate than Raleigh, North Carolina. Which is obviously a fraction of the murder rate in any major US city - nevermind actually dangerous worldwide cities like Caracas or Johannesburg. Anyone telling you its too dangerous to visit is either a shut-in, a coward, or pushing their own narrative. A tourist with any kind of common sense will be fine.

Paris is however horrible to live in for many of the same reasons London, or many other mega-cities are: overpriced, overcrowded, polluted, unfriendly and not great weather. If anyone is thinking of moving to France it should be way down their list of potential destinations as other posters have mentioned.

It is however still a great old imperial capital, and an absolute must see for anyone interested in European history or culture alongside London, Vienna, Madrid and Rome for similar reasons. Go there once for a week, see the architecture, history, and culture that resulted from hundreds of years of money and power flowing to the city, and then get out of there and go spend time in the real France in a medium sized city like Strasbourg or Toulouse.

< Many American cities are much less safe than almost all European ones.

The reason is multifold and often it extends in the US only to certain parts.

The issue here is that Paris used to be much much safer in the past. Now you have Korean buses getting robbed at gunpoint, terrorist attacks and large illegal Africans mobbing you to buy their crappy stuff (or else).

Crime is different than in the US, because the social net in Europe is much better and the contrast between rich and poor is less clear. Also there is no large specifically destroyed underclass in France. The Muslims there cause many problems, but they are mostly out of stable families which helps somewhat. They can survive by social security and some weed-selling/odd jobs on the side. They are frustrated, but they are not on meth-trips or joining actual violent drug gangs and shooting other gangs over turf-wars. This is a specific US problem (at least in scale and scope).

Those that remember the old Paris simply decry a lost grand city. It's just far less safe than it used to be - that is all.

This is all completely true, and I don't disagree with a word of it. My point in comparing the crime rate in Paris to Raleigh was not that it hasn't gotten worse in Paris in recent decades - it most certainly has, a lot worse. But instead that it would still be one of the safest large cities in the US to be in, so the doom & gloom posters in this thread are a bit ridiculous.

Direct quotes like:
"an enormous street crime problem"
"The French police walking around with rifles drawn did not help with that uneasiness. "
"You can feel a certain tension in the air that is quite palpable."
"I rank Paris on par with cities like New Delhi or Dhaka Bangladesh in terms of appeal. "

etc are in this thread. Which paint the city as a crime riddled war-zone. And theres also the 52% of the poll respondents saying the city is not visiting. My point was directed at them - if Paris is too dangerous to visit for them currently, then essentially any major city in the world will be too. Anyone too scared to visit Paris in 2017 is going to have a very boring collection of passport stamps in their lifetime.

It really depends. Do you speak or at least appreciate French? Do you like good food and art? Do you enjoy fashion and dressing well generally?

Paris is always a beautiful city, but most of it is no longer Paris anymore. You actually need to know where to go to find nice café terrasse, good food, street music, and with classy French people. Otherwise most of the city stinks of piss (both dog and Arab piss) and the most common restaurant you see are kebabs. The old building are still nice and charming, but again stink and reeks of desperation. Inside the metro you can play "find the white French" and see how many you got.

Being in Paris is like dating an extremely hot girl with bipolar disorder, who dresses extremely well but her clothes stink. Those who knows her enough can simply pick and choose when she is in a good mood and enjoy the best of her.

If you are the typical Trump-loving, shitlording red-blooded American, Mexico or Philippines is way better.

Forget Paris and go visit the rest of France. Bordeaux is good, Montpellier I heard is better. All the French countryside is gorgeous.

Paris is a beautiful city with plenty of art to see. The centre of western civilisation and culture for a very long time indeed. The freedom you feel in the city is amazing, and seeing north africans and middle eastern girls partying in Paris makes me proud of western culture and what it affords us all. 10/10
